I grew up in the south and we are just not equipped for cold weather. We just aren’t, and each year, the arctic blasts are stupefying for us. I felt every gust of wind you did. lol. Still, you got out there with your sleepy fiddlers and made a go of it. Thanks Beach Bum!😊❤️
16:56 sounds like any December day catching Steelhead in Michigan…but don’t get me wrong, I don’t like cold feet and hands either… the day after Christmas I head south to Orange Beach and return to the north when the walleye start to run in the spring.
I don't even mess with fishing when gets down in the 30's but I grew up in Southern California, so that didn't happen very often! 😮 Thanks for your service!🫡
Quite the struggle there my friend but even at that whether that's just long sleeve shirt weather for us Northerners LOL glad you caught some fish still makes for a good day
The last time I went to the North Carolina coast, the weather was supposed to be decent. It was everything but. A nor’easter developed and the waves were 13 feet coming in. Even the bridges were rough. I saw no fish caught. I didn’t even get to fish. The best thing is that I was able to spend time with my wife. She went home to heaven suddenly only five months later. I’ve also been ice fishing when I lived near Lake Erie when it was zero or below zero. When the one blows the snow across the ice, it’s like a sandstorm. The snow hets into any open place in your clothes. Wind chills can be down to 20 below. I miss ice fishing, but not the freezing wind. Have a great time fishing.
Thanks, Matthew. I appreciate your fortitude - for a Southern boy. lol As a Northerner, I spent many days sitting on the ice, freezing my feet and hands and came home empty. It's still great to be able to get out and chase after those finny creatures.
Thanks for the video. I enjoy all of your videos, because you mostly fish from the bank or beach or piers, which is what most of us are limited to. You catch a variety of different species, which is also encouraging to us. But, there is one thing that the vast majority of your videos have in common, and that is, you almost never have a measuring device (one of the most important tools we must have to stay legal). I would be happy to send you one. 😎
Moved here 6 years ago from northern Michigan...and I love the cooler weather down here instead of the brutal heat. And yes, I do enjoy hearing you whine about your cold hands😀
Beach Bum I like that video I know how it feels to be out there fishing in cold and windy I go black fishing in windy cold and even in the snow I am from NJ so I know what you are talking about like I said good video 😊
That’s sheepshead fishing from land, man. It’s tough. Something I like to do is put 2 crabs on the hook. You’ll feel the initial bite where they grab the 1st crab. Then get ready for them to come back for the 2nd. Way to grind it out man!
Looks like your fishing with Brant, LOL, just for the cold temperatures alone let alone that your able to catch something I give you a thumbs up from here in Panama City FL not far away.
I'm from Virginia and I've been fishing the Chesapeake bay and inland rivers all my life. When the cold weather arrives so do the stripers. I've found thru my experience that if the weather is pleasant enough for me to be comfortable I don't catch as many stripers. They like it cold .
Being from Indianapolis where it's 7° right now, I gotta laugh at you Floridians fishing in 30° weather. Good attempt, decent results. Thanks for the posting, and pray for warm weather. 😂
I know the locations of the first 3 spots you showed because I fish there all the time, but where was the 4th location? Good to see you on this side of the bay.
I think if you fished behind acme oyster house, you would have some real good luck. I bet some of the oysters end up in the water and fish know to hang out there.
I always pic on you about the temp because I used to fish when water would freeze on the line but honestly now I'm old and fat with poor circulation and I can't stand anything below freezing. way to tough it out bro!
I’ve fished tht pier a lot , it’s challenging but there’s some good fish there from time to time. Instead of trying by the platform throw by the rock point
I have family outside of Evansville that's had no power for like 3 days now. Not that I'd want to be snowed in, but of course I just left after an Xmas visit and I haven't seen snow in 14 years. Ugh!
Lived in Daphne my whole life, been living in West Virginia the past 3 years and just went fishing in Ohio last week while it was 8 degrees I’ve never missed the gulf coast so much
I've always said that my worst day fishing or hunting (unless someone is hurt or killed) is better than any day spent at home. I would be wearing some gloves though.
Such a click bait thumbnail that I couldn’t even tell what the video was going to be. Great work coming up with genuine content as advertised in the thumbnail!
I would trade the ice shack on a frozen Alaska lake at -10 for fishing in Florida at 32 degrees any day. Haha, but keep complaining about the cold weather down there...great content, btw!
Thanks for watching! If you are interested in a surf fishing trip with me, check out the link in the description!
Great video matt, it's 23° here with a foot and a half of snow, I wish my winter looked like yours 😂😂

Yea .....NO. You have no idea. You dont have the humidity. Summer and winter.
@dasavage been close spent 6 months
6 months in South Carolina on the coast spent three years in Southern Cal San Clemente Oceanside area
The last time I went to the North Carolina coast, the weather was supposed to be decent. It was everything but. A nor’easter developed and the waves were 13 feet coming in. Yessir. Wisconsin boy knows just what you are saying.
I def appreciate your patience, skill, fortitude, and keeping it real. Some days are just slow

To keep your fiddlers alive/active, fill a water bottle with hot water and put it in your bait box. It does help.

I've broken the ice in the creeks to get into the Chesapeake Bay to catch rockfish. Ice in my beard and frozen coffee is worth a 46" rockfish!
Sure do enjoy and really look forward to your vids. Have you ever tried suspending crabs with a float up against pilings for sheeps?
I've had some success with that. Got to have the right conditions to keep it against the structure. Need a big float.

I bought myself some neoprene gloves with openings for your fingertips. They worked great for fly fishing and kept my hands warm.
Gulf Shores has some marsh areas. The specs are in the marsh now. Try those areas.
too funny...try coming out to Canada in February and chop through the ice to fish, you might see what real cold fishing is LOL
Being from Indianapolis where it's 7° right now, I gotta laugh at you Floridians fishing in 30° weather. Good attempt, decent results. Thanks for the posting, and pray for warm weather. 😂
Congtarts for being out there. Your hands must have been freezing. I cant fish in that type of weather personally.
I lived in Pensacola in the 60 70 s , one time part of the bay froze up enough to walk about 5 ft out from shore😮
That was probably the same year it snowed all the way down to the Venice/Sarasota area. Thats crazy
Keeping the faith! 🐟🏔
Ft Gaines. My first job. Welcome to MY island!
You make me laugh. Those conditions are nearly normal for wilmington NC. Always tough fishing. lol
I know the locations of the first 3 spots you showed because I fish there all the time, but where was the 4th location? Good to see you on this side of the bay.
I know the winter is tough but al 3 of you guys have fished that same spot. It feels like I'm watching the same video.
Great video. Thank you.
I love that you share even the unsuccessful days. Because that’s fishing! Keep those vids coming!
I think if you fished behind acme oyster house, you would have some real good luck. I bet some of the oysters end up in the water and fish know to hang out there.
Looks like the same place Brant was recently.
You know it is cold when, Steelhead fishing and your line is icing up and the top guild is breaking off the ice when being in your line.
Looks like fun!
Yep....if you've never fished this area in the winter, people just can't imagine how cold it can be in the SOUTH on the beach.
If you can stand the cold, fishing windward areas can be better than spots out of the wind.

I grew up in WPB but live in Indiana now for several years we have 14” of snow and ice at my house now with a 4 degree morning highs of only 20
I have family outside of Evansville that's had no power for like 3 days now. Not that I'd want to be snowed in, but of course I just left after an Xmas visit and I haven't seen snow in 14 years. Ugh!
Your welcome to come up to northern Wisconsin and ice fish with me.
From the West side back to the East side. Thanks for the vid.
Pretty cold down there
Looks like you were on my side of the world today on the pier
If you think 32 degrees is cold try -32 here in Alaska last night or try ice fishing here when it is - 20 degrees like we do here for fun 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey, there are gloves and fingerless gloves for fishing!🤣
Oh, it's actually cold this time. 😂
Brant did his video there yesterday I didn’t realize you was fishing with Brant. I never seen you in his video.
thanks for dealing with it for us
I’m damn cold just watching you.
love your content!
Lived in Daphne my whole life, been living in West Virginia the past 3 years and just went fishing in Ohio last week while it was 8 degrees I’ve never missed the gulf coast so much
Isn’t that the spot where bearded Brad catches, she pan right near the Fishing store
Olá boa pescaria 🙏👍
That looks like the same place Brant was as at

The northern would be out on the lake at 10 below zero. ICE FISH
Welcome to the island.
Nice. I am watching this and our current temp is 6 degrees. But hey. It is what you are used to.
Should've went hunting today lol
It’s not cold there come up north when all our water is frozen 😂
It was a good decition, any fish is a good day.
Been there,,, Done that ......
I swear that fish is the same one Brent caught twp days ago😮
Cmon beach bum. More positive vibes!
That’s angler’s up spot
I Love to fish but there aint no way I'm going outside in that.
Those fish neededsweaters!
If you can, why not just measure out the length on top of the cooler with a permanent marker?!
Such a click bait thumbnail that I couldn’t even tell what the video was going to be. Great work coming up with genuine content as advertised in the thumbnail!

He caught a few
After all this time you dont bring a mesure. Just mark some tape on your rods princesse
Need to wear gloves with finger tips off
Cold hands are not fun
Ok stop with the click bait
Man up
Oooohhhh 32 Degrees. We hit a high of 17 degrees where I live
