This was definitely how ark videos should be was so relaxing and great to watch thank you so much for sharing all these tips and please keep the content coming
This is a good start to some of the basics skipped over or passed in detail by youtubers like Aaron Longstaff (fast builds), Sitharias (massive creative builds) and FirePumkin (interiors half walls with fence supports, painting and skumorphism with Primitive Plus). You can go really far with creative use of fence supports, thatch as nesting material and layering doorways.
Biggest tip for pillars and ceilings. Do your first pillar as he showed. Then that first pillar will have a snap point for another pillar and that for another. So lay out your pillars first then your ceilings will just snap top the tops
Love how calm you are while showing it and that you're really showing what you're doing. So many videos are doing things so fast and you have to rewind to see what happened. Love the calm music also! ❤🎉
Thank-you James. Even though I have over 3000 hour playing Ark I have played very little non modded Ark. Pullers on corners is also something I like but did not know about this trick. Now my builds will look better when playing vanilla 😄
As someone who has been playing ark pretty much since the start and recently started playing again, tutorial videos like this one, altough extremely simple, are extra helpfull!
Good vid! Shame devs didnt introduce s+ pillars on the homestead update, those snap under the ceilings by default and also can be placed in corners w/o fence foundations. But your tips can do that very much 100% legit on vanilla Btw, circular vanilla buildings are also very cool :D
i use stairs to help me keep a strait foundation set up. place the stairs on the foundation, then place another foundation at the bottom. at the end place one wall and use a ceiling to then give you an even surface
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. That background music you had was very relaxing too, that should almost be the background music the game in building mode because wow
1 tip everyone forgets about is you can snap connect pillars to act as foundations, literally works 100x better. Vanilla it creates floating structures. All it requires is 1 pillar to connect to a structure, run it to the ground, then snap your pillars to the next one. You're welcome
One way to deal with the pillar sticking out is to place a pillar halfway through the actuall ceiling and place more until it reaches the bottom then demolish the halfway through. It may take a few try’s so dont get frusturated
Love the video very informative if I would have only seen this months ago when I started.... A tip I think you should have included stairs and how invaluable they can be to building on hilly areas and still making things look clean.
You actually don't need the pillars to touch the ceiling piece. If you keep them locked into line with the original pillar then it exstends the space by 2 without having to do all the extra.
Do you do voice acting? Your voice is so soothing and nice. I think your voice really fits as a narrator voice in relaxing games or something along those lines
what about if your building is going downhill and you want to keep the height of the foundations the same so the surface is all the same height? like when you were building towards the water
I've found that the pillars aren't actually needed once everything is built so I can just delete them and have a massive internal room with no supports anywhere. Not sure if this still works, haven't played in a couple of months.
I think it only works if you have a foundation under so you could build a second floor or ceiling without pillars. I can't say 100% for sure since I've always played with S+. I played in a server where they didn't make any modifications to S+ and once when i picked up the wrong structure, everything came crashing down. c: Now we use S+ in a private server and I modified the configuration so foundations or pillars are not needed. It allows pretty much all the freedom we want for building things without the frustration.
I'm on ps4, no S+, and I did lay foundations first then pillars and ceilings. Once all ceilings were attached to walls I deleted the pillars and everything stayed up. Room is approximately 20x20 square.
Fun fact: placing a wood, stone or metal window frame above a single or double doorway will stop you from being able to go through it. Don’t know why but there ya go.
On mobile there is this specific corner at the top of my build a few floors up where it wont let me add a wall on two corners, saying that it reached the height limit or something even though there are ceilings and railings above it????
I buy a license from epidemic sounds for all my videos but for most of this video I used a lot of jack and jake stuff so think this or 1 you are after ua-cam.com/video/xA6Q6MrxzfE/v-deo.html
I think it's very stupid that a game , which has a limit for the amount of placeable structures, needs extra pieces to be able to build like you should be able to to begin with.
Meanwhile me: destroying the other player's buildings in PVE server with trike charge attack. Because that is NO 1 obstacle they spammed their bed and chests everywhere and of course I can destroy the chests too free estate agent lmao
i disliked the way you kept pointing the camera directly at the boom intensified sun turning the focus of the video into dark shadow (and blinding us, well me anyway), and only at the very end put your back to the sun Also i didnt understand why anyone wants uneven foundations yet time was spent showing us how to get them, then an obscure throwaway and unelaborated upon comment at the end hinted at "how to get them perfectly even" Im very new to Ark, so maybe i will work all this shit out for myself, but honestly, this wasnt very helpful for me, maybe its more helpful to people who have a thousand hours in the game, but then they probably know it already

I've spent ages trying to find a USEFUL no mods building tutorial. Thank you for making this video!
Have you not tried captain fatdog?
I spent endless amounts of time looking. Catch up 🤪
At the beginning all I can think about is this man cursing at a Pego after stealing from him

The first tip was crazy helpful thank you
To those of you actually still playing ark on Vanilla settings in 2020 ; nobody knows you exist , but your work is important!
All official servers use vanilla settings...
@@codemang87 honestly the same goes for people playing on official servers. All 25 frames of it.
Thanks alot for clearing this, literally a life saver on foundations and roofs
This is so chill. More like this please.
2:41 to get no pillar coming through at all, place the pillar first and then the celling on top
I had no Idea level pillars were so easy. I was using the lowered pillar trick. This is so much faster thank you.

Aaron longstaff (I think) does so many building videos! Definitely recommend
he does use s+ but i will say most of his tutorials are mod free official

most doorframes are shorter than the average survivor height, you can place two story doors, or create chibi characters to get around this
