Another nice tip you can add for the next one: place a torch with painted sparkler skin on a standing torch or wall torch to change the color of torch fire.

Great job man, I'll have to get myself some building pants now! Thank you for the shoutout, that was a nice little surprise. It's good to see those lampposts become so popular. Just want to mention that the method you used to turn foundations 180 degrees, actually works for 90 degrees too if you place the triangles on a different side. I also had the thought when watching the umbrella part, that we can now do them without the triangle ceilings, just with the triangle roofs floating.

Imsink cables into foundations so they are safe and also only use the 4 way ones and fill the entire floor with them like a grid so if some break the grid continues to function.

So many good tips! I've followed a lot of your builds and I have to say your directions are the easiest to follow from any other channel. Recently I've been working on a build from Pilgrimz Project, and while the building looks great, impresses my friends and frightens my enemies, the "how to build" video on it is literally just a video of him making it, mistakes and all, with no directions or logical order to how he's placing things down. Your videos are much easier to follow. "Do this, then this, place this down, put down fence foundations to get pillar snap points, snap this wall here". No disrespect to PP, his builds are beautiful, but you've really got the formula for "how to" videos nailed down!
I honestly think I might have to take down my entire build and re-do it now, which is upsetting because of time wasted and structures built, but I'd rather do it right and have it look good than just be complacent with what I have. That bit about making the roof pieces flush with foundations was a spark of inspiration and I'm upset I didn't figure that out myself, but oh well!

on metal and tek structure to make sure that ceiling are on same levels as my foundations, i use the technique where I lower my foundation at 1 spot then i can connect the ceilings everywhere and its perfect
Any tips on lining up foundations to a pre-existing structure, i.e. tek buildings in Genesis 2? It takes an incredible amount of testing for me to get things straight.
Just watched your Tips videos for the first time and now I know how to hide cables and pipes! Do you know when you'll be doing the next one in the series? I need to lower some metal ceilings to foundation height due to wonky "something's in the way" on official so my greenhouse isn't off inside, and you mentioned that would be in the next video. :)
@@AaronLongstaff Specifically, it was lowering a ceiling to match a foundation height. I have spots at my base where the ground won't let me set a foundation, so ceilings are there in place of foundations to finish off the floor. But ceilings don't go flush with the foundations. You had a tip to fix that using a wall and stairs, but said it only works on certain build types - metal not being one of them (and my base is metal) but you said you would be showing how to do that in a future video. I did try the technique and it helped, but it's not all the way flush. And now the greenhouse wall that I replaced has a gap at the top. LOL.
Hey Have you Ever tried to place a Cliff Platform on top of Stone pillars? can that even work. I want to make a Modern Pseudo Aviary on a ocean platform.
Can you do one on how to build foundations in the ground, and if you can, can you do one on how to build into the terrain because when I build it annoys me when i cant build because of the terrain.
Hey Aaron ! I started a big castle and I have a problem. Even if i have pillar to the ground, it ask me to have a base. So i put a base with pillar on it and bring it to my structure. It work.. 2 time on 10 ! Lol So i dont know what to do to continue my structure... I think it can be cause im on a mountain and continue on is side, so the pillar dont get to the "ground" but on the mountain. What can i do for it ? Sorry for my long explaination and my basic english skills lol. But since I watch your video, I really progress in built so I hope you will have the answer I need 🙏🙏🙏 thank you so much in advance

Only just started on Ark. It's very confusing, all the rules about structure placement, but your videos really help me understand what I can accomplish. I really was only interested in the sandbox aspect. I wish someone would make a sandbox game as pretty as Ark but with a limitless building ability that was very user friendly and just let people create. I tried Dream but got disheartened when I lost a lot of progress over a saving flaw, and it's not easy to pick up. I really just enjoy building. I wish there were more games focused on it where we didn't have to fuss over physics for no reason. Just let the players create.
so i have been trying to get into building in ark, as its something i havent really bothered with much in the years of playing and i know about fence foundations and pillars when placing walls, was just wondering what is the actual reason for doing it that way? instead of say just snapping to the foundation
How do you hide electrical cables on a multi-story building? Also, I keep trying to use your ladder technique to center myself, but my character keeps refusing to grab the ladder & just phases through it. Doesn't matter if I'm in creative mode or not.
I'm watching all your build tips and as they get more advanced I start to realize just how much I took for granted in Valheim when I'm building. Who designed these build mechanics? How overly unnecessary and complicated. Why? I hope ARK 2 takes some notes from Valheim on how to do build systems and snap points.

It is mazing what can be done in a game that to me has the worst building mechanic i have seen to date. I find it confusing with all the snap points and how to keep creating new ones just to get that single piece down you need. I do hope you will make one on the uneven ground and how to build and get foundations level to each other, as that would open many new build locations.

Its crazy how Wildcard just wont add or adjust snap points to solve all these issues. Modders in the community can do it, but its too hard for the devs?

Not sure how this is useful, but if you build a window, then put a reinforced window in it, the replace the window frame with a greenhouse wall, the reinforced window remains there.

Tek triangle ceiling flushing with tek foundation technic, pls.
Its similar but you need to use lots of pillars and lowering techniques I will be making a video specifically on lowering soon

I always use a tek generator. No wires around then
Why are the walls so short you cant even jump while in your base unless its double wall high. 1 extra foot would make a huge difference in immersion.
