Tremendously helpful video. Followed-along, and then was able to use a few of these tips on family car. Key points include familiarity of location of oil filter & plug, where the o-ring sits, and the way to feel how the oil filter housing there "threads" back onto its spot. Got it on first try. Thanks & good luck to others who are trying to learn some basic auto maintanence. We should all be able to do (at least) a number of these general-purpose tasks.

It’s 6.3 quarts of oil for this 3.5 according to the manual. Also tighten filter housing and oil plug to the recommended specs by Toyota. We always overtighten them 100%
    Very good video.
Fran XG9972 filter is probably the best option at this time. Mobil got terrible. Toyota filters are meh.
Also manual calls for an oil change every 5k conventional(nowadays you can only get a synthetic blend). Even full synthetic they don’t recommend increasing oil change intervals, I do 10-15k full synthetic on every oil change easy. I add 3-4 quarts in that period, it definitely leaks/burns oil but who cares. The cars is 15 years old.

Did you check price OEM Toyota filter at your dealer? At my dealer it's very good price and quality guaranteed with the drain plug gasket for around 10 dollars. I would say that's preferable over aftermarket filter, and FRAM at that

I got my filter and crush washer from Toyota for about 8 bucks. Definitely the best option.

😮 How do you *clear the codes* and the *maintenance needed* 🔧 *warning-light* without a *fancy-scantool?* 🤔 I'm pretty sure there's a *trick* by pushing two buttons on the dash simultaneously. But I don't remember how. 😔

Missed a step. New washer ring on oil drain plug.

I replace them every other oil change. It wouldn’t hurt it

Why use the FRAM FF9972? Any preference in oil filter for this vehicle?

I just use Fram on all of my cars but you can use anything.
If you always do oil change every 3-4 months, those filters last from 6-10months. Depends on how you drive them
