Definitely. So glad to see his final performance in Swan Lake with Fumi Kaneko.
And now he's director of the Northern ballet! Which is great

One thing I noticed from Federico is he is a very, very good partner! I watched his Sleeping Beauty with Fumi Kaneko and also Swan Lake with Akane Takada - all really show that he can adapt to his partner, match their level of energy, 'correct' and camouflage any slight mishaps that were barely visible to the general audience👏🏻

Bonelli is one of my all time faves. His performances in the classics, Macmillan and all kinds of other ballets are unmatched. It’s criminal his Rudolf in Mayerling wasn’t recorded as it was the best male performance I’ve seen on stage ever 😮

His Mayerling with Laura Morera was the best ballet performance I've ever seen (maybe tied with his Onegin). It so should have been recorded! I miss him greatly.

What a treat it is to have not just any video from you, but a "ballet deconstructed" video!
Hopefully you have had a great and healthy summer so far!
As a non-dancer, I can only marvel at how dancers have to execute all these very difficult steps, while staying with the music, AND while portraying a character!
I like how you also explain what Federico is doing and how difficult that is while not being the star attraction.
Alina is very captivating and has a unique charm! When she was 15, she danced the most unusual variation I've ever seen! It involves a sword and actual gymnastics! You probably know this already, but Alina used to train in gymnastics, which is no surprise as she grew up in Romania! It sounds like the commentators were in awe (respectful shock? 😄) after she finished. That a 15-year-old can play this character so convincingly has got to be VERY unusual! Link: ua-cam.com/video/1XYoyDdtrlA/v-deo.html
In case the link does not show, just search "Alina Cojocaru at 15." Although it must be pretty obscure, I would love to see an analysis of this!
I believe you mentioned that you would be dancing this exact Sleeping Beauty pdd with your partner in the near future? Is there any chance you will upload or stream this performance on UA-cam?
Thank you very much for sharing your expert knowledge!
Do you have a UA-cam channel community that one can join or Patreon or something similar?
    Best wishes! 😍🙏💐❤

Thank you for this analysis! I love Alina and Federico. Something Alina is nearly unmatched in is her subtle head movements that add so much to the character. I got to see her with ENB in Swan Lake at the Royal Albert Hall. It's such a huge venue that dancers have to emote so much to even be able to see it from so far away. She did it beautifully without being over done; a true artist,

Hey Kathryn, would you consider breaking down a video of Fonteyn and Nureyev? Her style is different from what we usually see now, and she was 47 when she and Nureyev recorded the videos of Swan Lake and Romeo & Juliette. Would love to hear your analysis of Fonteyn, especially from Romeo and Juliet - she's fabulous in the role and is such an important artist.

Alina is one of my favourites! Such a master of the classical style, and yet I feel somewhat underrated?? I love her precision but without overexageration. Her sensibility and musicality are beautiful. I'd love you to do Olesya Novikova, I feel like she's another one of the great classicists of our time.

I totally agree with your statements about Alina. She is much loved in Europe! What makes her very special is her ability to construct a character and play it out, beyond steps, technique, musicality (all extremely important, of course). She is an actress and ballerina. That is unique to her as an artist. "Critics' Circle Dance Award for Outstanding female classical performance Aurora in Sleeping Beauty (2017) Dance for You Magazine Award, Best dancer 2014 for her roles as Juliet and Giselle by John Neumeier (2014)" - from Google. She is amazing in ballets created for her by John Neumeier, never danced in America. Thank you, Kathryn for this treat!

@@1088RIL I know she's beloved in Europe (I live there haha), but I still find wild she has not performed in America. So many european stars have guested with ABT, for example. She would fit very well in their repertoire.

Cojocaru and Osipova both have quite severe bunions, which makes their shoes look even more untidy. I think it's also probably why (apart from very strong feet) they wear their shoes pretty dead.

I don't know a lot about ballet but at circumstances like that at 4:15 you really have to have a lot of trust in your partner. If he let her hand slip that could result in significant injury to her (falling down backwards like that). They must have a really good working relationship and trust.
It amazes me all the work put into the foot movements; movements where the total time is only a few seconds.
