    Well my heart skipped a beat when you showed the light house painting. It is the Portland Head Light, Cape Elizabeth, Maine. I am from Maine, now in Maryland. It is a beautiful light house in person. Enjoy your channel, new subbie.

    Thank you Melanie for what you do. I have excel spreadsheets for my booth items also but a little more in-depth. I too keep track of the things you do on your lists but I do number everything, with a description and include the date I place it in the booth and also the month it sells. I also take a picture of every item with the tag attached in case I can’t remember what the item was by my description. A lot of work but necessary for my peace of mind.
    I finally started painting barn quilts when I moved to SC 5 years ago. (I had first learned about them in 2009 but there was no call for them in South Florida) I’m a retired draftsman and have drawn over a 100 different patterns to eventually paint. I’m saddened that even the people here have no idea what they are…..and there are so many barns. Anyway, I’m rambling. Thank you for your content and the time it takes to share.

    I like your mish-mash vid, Melanie. Sometimes that's the way it goes. I could almost taste that apple cider. I bought a couple botanical prints for resale a few years ago, that are very similar to yours, but a bit smaller. Guess where they are .... Hanging in my dining room, that's where. I loved them too much also. (giggle)

    I’m glad you kept the prints. Some items are more valuable to you than the money you can get from selling them. I have a Weiss brooch that I love that didn’t sell for what it was worth to me, so I brought it home. I’m especially glad I kept it, because I’ve never seen another one like it.

    Another trick that I’ve done when painting taped off areas, is paint the undercoat on the taped lines, let that dry well, then add color. No bleeding, usually! Some people even use a bit of mod podge on the taped lines. I’ve not tried that, but I can see how it’d work too! I’m off to get some surfaces to paint some quilt blocks now!! Thanks for the inspiration!! ❤

    Great video, enjoyed seeing your booth! I loved your comment about seeing things moved around and showing “people are shopping”. I had always seen it as such a nuisance that people cant just put things back where they found them. I think I need to adopt your perspective! Also as a new seller I was encouraged that I keep the same type of inventory system. I add a few things like what my item actually sold for.

    Hi- Could you describe what you did after painting the dresser with the beautiful blue paint…exactly what did you do after painting and how many coats did you use?

    • @LostFoundDecor
      @LostFoundDecor  2 роки тому +1

      Hi! Yes, I used 2 coats on it. Then added a layer of the Fusion Beeswax Finish, just to add a subtle sheen. Fusion Mineral Paint doesn’t require an additional topcoat to seal the paint, but I find a little bit of an oily wax helps the darker colors not show so many scuffs and fingerprints

    Do you have trouble, getting receipts for second hand items, so that you can prove how much you paid for them to the tax office? At least one British reselling channel says this is a problem.

    • @LostFoundDecor
      @LostFoundDecor  2 роки тому

      Most of my items I buy at thrift shops and flea markets, they do provide receipts. My garage sale finds, obviously not. But I make my own recordings of the cost and haven’t had any tax issues :)
