Picking 25 Miles of Garage Sales, Was it Worth It? THRIFT HAUL + Antique Reselling
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 жов 2023
- My husband and I set out last weekend to head to "Picking Time on 59", an event that happens once a year in Northwest Arkansas. It's roughly 25 miles of garage sales and pop-up flea markets that set up along Highway 59 from Siloam Springs to Sulphur Springs, Arkansas.
Come along with us to see what we find, and then check out the thrift haul for the second half of the video!

Come along with me to my first every "Picking Time on 59" event and let's see what items we can score. Thanks for watching :)
Love the mirror with the wonderful patina and the frames that you got. Thanks for taking us junking with you.
Thank you so much 🤗
The spoons are soup spoons! I love them. The butter knives I collect. They are always on my holiday entertaining tables and conversation pieces every time.
This is my first time seeing your videos, I love them, will be watching more when they are released
Thanks so much for watching!
Love the mirror
You always find the sweetest dog figurines!
Ha…thanks! They do seem to catch my eye
The group of utensils you bought had one with curly wires . I am 77 and i have my mother's. It is a whisk used to fold in whipped cream or beaten egg whites. Fun to see that!
Oh my! I would have had to buy that SWIFT Beef Brains can. I've never seen one. Didn't know that item existed for retail sale. We had beef brains, but only when my dad had a beef butchered. It was a high priority for my parents and grandparents. I couldn't eat brains and eggs, my gag reflex was triggered by the odor.
That’s a great story and memory! I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to eat them either 😁
Love the mirror, for sure, but they’re all great finds! Also, your hair looks pretty like that🥰
Love that tri-fold mirror! Would be cool with candlesticks in front of it and the backdrop to a Halloween vignette!
Totally!
Love those blue steins! Fun video. Also, your hair looks fantastic!
So glad you posted going to this event!!! We hopped in the car and went!! Had a blast and made a haul. Thank You!!!
Oh what fun! I think the spoon is for frying foods. It gets the food out of the grease. The deer forms are for taxidermy. They stretch the hides over the form to create the mount. The one that had the horns looks like the hide didn't make it. Maybe whoever was doing taxidermy decided that wasn't the craft for them! Wouldn't it be cool to take one of those forms and put broken china pieces on it to create a mosaic piece!. Great finds!
I love that idea with the broken china pieces!
Te spoon with wire I believe it was a type of beater, possibly for eggs, the three spoons are probably soup spoons.
Thanks for taking us along. You did get some cool things. That mirror is my favorite.
Thanks for watching! I agree..that mirror is pretty great!
Love that tri~fold mirror! Great deal on the rocking chair and I love that tie holder idea! I’m going to be on the lookout for one of those! 💓💓💓
It really was great! Hope you find one!
Hi Melanie, have always wanted to be able to experience thrifting like that. Absolutely love the tri fold mirror. You found some really nice treasures. Very interesting and informative videos that you post. Wanted to mention also that your hair looked especially nice. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! 😁 thanks for watching, too!
You got some great items! Check under your boys' beds for those missing spoons. Ask me how I know! Lol! 😉
That was fun! I would love to go on one of those loooong yard sales one day. You found some good finds!!
I love the trifold mirror, Melanie!
Me too! It’s great!
I think those spoon and fork salt and pepper shakers hold onto each other like they are dancing if you put them together. I've seen similar ones that did.
Oh my gosh, that's so fun!
Great finds! Learning a ton from you! Thanks! Starting my first booth ever this month! Thanks for all your info!!
You can do it!
Very nice !
Yea - you bought something red - the bird. It would look nice with a potted plant.
Enjoy your channel. Thanks.
Great idea!!
Great finds Melanie! I've been on the hunt for silver and silver-plated flatware lately so I will check out your online shop! That mirror is amazing!
Awesome! Thank you!
Love ❤❤❤ the Jolly Jingles!
Yes! It’s almost like it’s made for you my friend!
The rounded spoons are cream soup spoons.
Those funky animal figures look like they're what some of my family members use for archery: target practice, but they are missing the body, so taxidermy does make sense. Now I'm looking through the other replies. Ha-ha!
I love Master butter knives I've got a nice collection of them
It’s fun to have a collection like that. Thanks for watching!
Oh my goodness, I was up in Gentry this past weekend, and I visited your booth! My best friend from Collierville and i were visiting her daughter, who just recently moved up there!
We went to Vintage Market Days.😊❤
No way!
Haha, yes! I would have loved to have run into you!😊
My mom used that utensil for getting things out of hot oil, like donuts
Oh yeah! It’s be perfect for that
Hurry Back, Melanie!
Lots of great finds!!
Yes! Thank you!
I think your kitchern ware item is a whisk.
Thanks Nicky!
I would love to learn more about flat ware- silver plate, brands etc. There isn’t a lot of info out there!
Check out Replacements.com, they have a little search tool where you can take a photo of your piece and they will search their database to try and match the pattern. It’s not perfect… but a cool little tool. And yes, the world of flatware is kind of a bottomless pit 😂 You can spend hours reading and researching to identify one item!
You are correct
Those are deer forms for taxidermy
Awesome! Thanks for confirming :)

I just know that leaving a comment and hitting the LIKE button always helps the algorithm for your channel.
I watch a lot of different resale channels and I know locally it's getting tough with the economy 😞 and it's not going to get easy in the upcoming year for antiques.
So hang in there 💪 and the main thing is stay positive.
Even in the Great Depression people that where creative became rich 🤑.
So keep pushing those videos and pocket money 💲 to buy out people's collection that didn't save. Then when things get better you can come out swinging with deals you got in the bad times.
ROCK ON!!!
I think those little spoons are bouillon spoons. People don't serve that anymore.
Are the spoons a soup spoon?
THX FOR TAKIN' US ALONG ~ FUN VIDEO. KEEP THE ROCKER MELANIE AT LEAST FOR A LITTLE WHILE & ENJOY, LOOKS LIKE A PERFECT FIT‼️
Thank you! I probably will. :) the whole family loves it
I am keeping it 😂😂 The whole house is enjoying it :)
@@LostFoundDecor "YAY" GREAT FIND‼️ I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT MIRROR WAS ALSO A SWEET 💞 DEAL, DISPLAYED WITH CHRISTMAS GREENERY AND CANDLE REFLECTING OFF MIRROR, THAT'D BE SO VERY PRETTY.
Bouillon spoons
Got it. Thanks!
Are you headed to Vintage Market Days in Bentonville this weekend? ❤
I am not! I have to miss this time, too much going on in family life 🤪 But if you go, enjoy it!
I’ll have to miss this one Michelle :)
Nice finds - love that tri-fold mirror!!
Thank you! 😊
Love the "Master butter knife", I had no idea...so cool. Love the mirror, love the restaurant ware, love love love the dog! I have about 200 (no, I'm not crazy lol!) Did you buy the old falling apart french book? I totally would have. I make "junk journals" and that book would be awesome for that. Thanks for the fun video!
Your outrageous prices are laughable. People are struggling to fill their gas tanks and put food on the table for their families and you're marking up your stuff up hundreds of percents! If you get a deal--give a deal! Good job.
Calm down Karen
She isn’t selling a have to have item- no one has to purchase if they feel the price is outrageous. These are fun items so she should price the way she wants. She is doing the shopping and has the great eye, I think people pay for that!! Great video!❤
Hi Cindy! Yes, I do mark my items up a good bit, often 60-80% because that matches the online going retail market price. Everything we purchase in our daily lives has been marked up from the original price, that’s the nature of capitalism. I don’t sell things that people need, so I don’t feel that I am depriving anyone from a basic necessity if they can’t afford it. My profit covers all of the other expenses that go into running my business-gas, shipping supplies, website fees, credit card processing fees, and then paying myself for my time. The day I filmed this video I worked 8 hours, plus several more hours of cleaning my items, researching online, and then editing this video.Because I run a business I should get paid for my work. Not everyone thrifting on UA-cam is running a business, and that’s ok :) But I am, I have 3 children to help provide for and I deserve a paycheck. I will never feel guilty for paying myself for my work, and I don’t think other resellers should either.
Agree- and finding items is hard work.
@@LostFoundDecorexactly! Good job setting her straight.
Bouillon spoons
Awesome, thank you! After a bit of research I settled on that too
