Remarque84 oh yes that was lovely. The way he described the last battle was nice too. I think he said awesome or incredible? That sentence reminded me of the dark tower series. The man in black fled across the desert & the gunslinger followed. Something like that.
Thom was pretty much my favourite character from the get-go. He's just so interesting and has so much history behind him. I find his interactions with Elayne touching, and yet sad at the same time. The one that tugged at my heart was when she tugged his moustache and said she could remember doing that as a child.
And you forgot to mention that Thom was defending Rand while also composing a ballad about Rand and the Last Battle, and, no big deal, IS PROBABLY THE INSPIRATION FOR MERLIN!
Don't forget that the one Seanchan general thinks that Thom is a white tower spy and must be the general against whom he is battling when in fact it is Mat. Can't remember which book, but it's fairly late in the series where Mat is trying to get to Caemlyn and is vastly outnumbered and works his battle luck to the max with crossbows and clever tactics etc
Just subscribed, love the WOT stuff you do. I’m anxious to see a character breakdown of Verin Mathwyn as she is by far my favorite Aes Sadai! And one of the best characters in the series in my opinion.
Thom always struck me as interesting. Though I didn't share the admiration you do. I remember Moraine basically trying to buy his cooperation with information. She told him that if he plays along she'd tell him who gentled his nephew. Implying possibility for revenge. His stories were always cool, and the way he dealt with the Two Rivers folk in the first few chapters cracked me up. He didn't insult them _too_ much... but clearly was amused by such simple folk. Michael Kramer, the male VA for the audiobook did a good voice for him imo.
And there are hints he made Morgase a widow too, when her consort was looking at taking her throne. Would make him a kingslayer twice over.Beat that Jaime Lannister.
My favorite thom scene is when he’s sitting outside shayol ghul and picking off black ajah. He so completely understand acting and movement that he picks up on subtle details in how they move to be able to notice imposters. Though I completely missed the moraine thom thing. It seemed out of nowhere. I’ve read the series more times than I can count. I reread every time a new book came out from winters heart on except after towers of midnight and a memory of light. In that case I just started at the gathering storm or knife of dreams. I don’t think I’ve reread the series since knowing they get together. Maybe I need to and will pick up on it. I’m behind on so many other books including oathbreaker and rothfuss that I don’t have time to reread the entire series. Plus, I love the series so much that when I read it, it dominates my life which I can’t afford right now.
Thom Merrilin was one of the strongest Taviren (sorry for the mis-spell) in the series. An awesome character to have followed. Sigh. I only wish there were more books! Lol.
Loial21 as i am known to many. Ahem ....Im hooked young man. I found no flaw in presentation excellent job i looked forward to all your work. I must admit to rationing off the rest of the series i have read the first 8 books 9 times over waiting for the next and spent countless hours on dial up in the WOT AOL forum (So long ago sigh) however i stopped reading at the prequel. and found no time for reading *blame first person shooters .Your enthusiasm has again lit the binge reader in me and im going to finish this series and the rest of forgotten realms dranglance and macaffery books etc etc time to put down the playstation and start reading again.. .thank you.
You should review all the books bro, you can do it before anyone else does and get a huge following. I'm talking about. All. 14 books or was it 16 books, including prequel and a massive overview of. The wheel of Time series. You can do it!!
I'm just starting my first reread. I started last week And in about a quarter the way through TGH, (super stoked for the seanchan intro.) I started EOTW for the first time in January and got hooked. Since then I got up to book ten of drizzt, the first Witcher book, all of fire and ice, and a good 85% of all Tolkien shit. Super glad to have found this hobby. Good content dude.
Reincarnation of Merlin. Could be. There’s Arthur. There’s Gawyn. Haven’t finighed the series but wouldn’t be surprised if Lancelot and Gwennivere were introduced. Moraine is Morgana? Who knows.
Can you please do a video on Petyr Baelish aka Littlefinger ... ? Please. But Books Only ... A Song of Ice and Fire series... I love that Character along with Doran Martell too. Can you please do these two characters... Please ???
I'm finishing up "The Fires of Heaven" and in the story Thom and Elayne and their group are in a traveling menagerie which features an illuminator named Aludra. Now if memory serves Thom and Mat saved Aludra from and ambush in a stable in "The Great Hunt", but Thom never alludes to having previously met Aludra. Does this ever get rectified in future books or am I mistaken?
I do not see that Thom was helping the people of Elmond's fight the Trollocs! Lan stated that he was no where to be found. But, I am still in book one...
Thom teaching mat to sneak and fight? Mat was demonic and then when he found Thom in Tar Valon he already had all his weird abilities. Love what you do.. maybe the research was need afterall =x
Thom didnt teach rand politics. Elyane did if anyone. Thom was nowhere near Rand after he left tear in TSR. Rand never really even realized Thoms hidden side or knew he was intervening politically on his behalf, besides secret notes in jacket pockets. Also Thom met Morgase after she was queen and was exiled when elyane was a lil girl. so at most he supported her for maybe 6-7 years. during that time she had Gareth Bryne as well. The Silver Fox is quite a devious strategist but you creditied him with things he simply did not do.
A neat little thing about Thom is that he and Moraine already start playing the game of houses the minute they meet.
"Thom Merrilin sat on a large, soot-blackened boulder, smoking his pipe, watching the world end"

SPOILERS
If I am not mistaken this was Furyk Karede looking for Tuon who waltzes into Mat's war camp asking for Thom.
Thom was one of the best characters in the books. A big role model for the boys and you see how his teachings follow the boys throughout the story.
hahahahha, "might low-key be the creator" ahhahahah
Was going to comment this too hahaha
There’s only one creator
and his name is Robert Jordan ☺️
dude I just finished the series, you're videos help me cope with the post book depression, wish we could talk in person hahahahahaha Thankyou
lol.. just finished the last book and these videos really help!
Lol I’m in the same boat 😂😂
He and Mat are the reason I keep going back to WoT .
Just subscribed, love the WOT stuff you do. I’m anxious to see a character breakdown of Verin Mathwyn as she is by far my favorite Aes Sadai! And one of the best characters in the series in my opinion.
Agreed, I think she's so underrated as a character!!! Love her to pieces.
Love hearing ur respect for them in ur voice

Don't forget that Thom killed King Galldrian, thus plunging Cairhien into civil war
Only makes him even better 😂
I know he's amazing
And there are hints he made Morgase a widow too, when her consort was looking at taking her throne. Would make him a kingslayer twice over.Beat that Jaime Lannister.
"Killed King Galladrian?" I think you mean "John Wicked the kingdom of Cairhein"
@@SH-qs7ee LOL
Totally agree! Thom is an incredible character and you do him justice with your video. Enjoying your channel and looking forward to more.
if you pay attention, you find a lot of fantasy authors insert themselves into their books. Thom Merrilin is Robert Jordan.
"Ray Lewis's a Myrddraal" is an apt description (even though that's Bart Scott in the pic).

THIS IS THE BEST CHARACTER EXAMINATION I'VE EVER HEARD
Thom Merrilin was Merlin, but without the magic.
WOW ! So glad you love " Wheel of Time " .
ha "His past remains a cloak of mystery" I see what you did there 😁
Always been one of my favorite characters
Thom is likely a Hero, by that I mean if he weren’t already alive, he would respond to the call of the Horn of Valere.
your passion for Thom is enjoyable. "most interesting character" bold statement.
Thom Merrilin was one of the strongest Taviren (sorry for the mis-spell) in the series. An awesome character to have followed. Sigh. I only wish there were more books! Lol.

His song in the show is awesome!!!!!
I absolutely love your character analyses! It would be great to see one of Moiraine!
You should review all the books bro, you can do it before anyone else does and get a huge following. I'm talking about. All. 14 books or was it 16 books, including prequel and a massive overview of. The wheel of Time series. You can do it!!
Amazing video, thanks for that.
Oh my God a city!Yeah... A city...
Great video! It would be cool if you did an update video discussing how Thom is presented in the show
Thom being the creator makes me think of thanos saying "Fine I'll do it myself."
I'm just starting my first reread. I started last week And in about a quarter the way through TGH, (super stoked for the seanchan intro.) I started EOTW for the first time in January and got hooked. Was not super impressed with book of Kings. Almost forgot I read it
Hmmm, I get the impression that you like Thom Merrilin. :)
I do too. He is one of the best characters in the series, bar none.
He's a bit of a father figure for the boys.
Reincarnation of Merlin. Could be.
There’s Arthur. There’s Gawyn.
Haven’t finighed the series but wouldn’t be surprised if Lancelot and Gwennivere were introduced.
Moraine is Morgana? Who knows.
Guinevere you already should know... Egwene al’Vere.
@@Merlin1908 I feel like an idiot now haha thanks
Zyphnab the fabulous!
Thom Merrilin is the original uncle Iroh.
"one of the most just rulers" and "angry jealous queen". Are the two even compatible?
Is Thom Merrilin Tom Bambidil But Helpful?
Can you please do a video on Petyr Baelish aka Littlefinger ... ? Please. But Books Only ... A Song of Ice and Fire series... I love that Character along with Doran Martell too.
Can you please do these two characters... Please ???
Such. Handsome.

It will be addressed.
Is it at all possible that Thom from WOT literally is Hoid from the cosmere?
Wait the h is silent in Thom
I do not see that Thom was helping the people of Elmond's fight the Trollocs! Lan stated that he was no where to be found. But, I am still in book one...
Wouldn't it be nice if Patrick Stewart was cast as Thom Merrilin.
Mick Dolce-Riggs this would be so good
I definitely didn't name my son after Thom.
Sam Elliot for cast as Thom
How many times have you read WOT?
Between 5-7. Not sure exactly.
Daniel Greene Wow. I plan to reread someday, but there’s way to much in front of the line before WOT again. Glad you liked it that much!
One dislike from Morgase
damn it it wasnt perrin. Best character hehe.
perrin gets on my nerves when he spends 2 books planning the rescue of faile.
you cant rush these kind of things.
Matt imo!
You left out your mic drop dude...
I want to watch these wheel of times but I haven't read the series yet! Gahhh
GhostRadio read the series first
Thom teaching mat to sneak and fight? Mat was demonic and then when he found Thom in Tar Valon he already had all his weird abilities.

Sorry bro, Thom can’t be the Creator. Bella is.

very poorly expressed. Take a break, and make a pause sometimes between sentences. And add a description in the beginning
