My next pen is going to be a Momento Zero. I don't know why it never occurred to me to get the 1.1 nib, since I have a couple of them in other brands, and I like them. You've opened my eyes to the obvious!
I've gone for an Esterbrook Oversized 1.1 nib as I already have an Leonardo but I find it has hard starts more. Maybe be tempted to get the Zero Grande Sand in 1.1 though... Tempting!
Question. I have a Leonard Momento Zero Grande 1.1 stub. I wanted to ask you if your nib has a gap along the length of the nib. That is, it does not get narrower toward the tip. I find it writes really wet. Thanks.
The slit on my nib is the same gap from thr breath hole to the tip. It doesn't taper like some other nibs. Stubs are wetter than regular nibs. More line width needs more ink. Is it unreasonably wet? Do you have other 1.1 to compare against?
I’ve never had a TWSBI be scratchy or hard start after a fill. You must have a defective model. The TWSBI stub is my go to nib for TWSBI and I have about 20 of them. I did just buy my first Leonardo and it is a stub so I’m looking forward to the comparison but the TWSBI stub is lovely and is my favorite stub at the moment.
Is it steel nib? I cant decide should I get a steel or gold version (200 euros more). Some gold nibs are as stiff as their gold equivalents, to there's no difference in feeling. How it is in case of Leonardo?
Think I am about to order this pen. Same nib different colour. How do you find it posted? Too big? My worry is that it is going to be too small unposted and too big posted (I like the size of the Platinum 3776 posted - I think the cigar shape of that pen helps the balance imo).
I find it totally fine posted. I post almost all my pens, I have pretty big hands & most aren't big enough for me without posting. I don't own a 3776 for reference but I believe this pen is a bit bigger from what I remember when seeing them in stores or meet ups. It's a good size pen & everyone I know who has one enjoys. I just wish I had bought the GRANDE version. You'll be happy with your buy.
Stubs are problematical unless you get a Leonardo or better pen. They're scratchy at the low end. Pilot Metropolitan stub is scratchy. At low end stick with regular nibs up to broad with balls at tip for smoothness--better chance for success.

BTW your handwriting is just fine. In fact it’s better than that of most ‘reviewers’
Thx, trying to improve it.
Gotta love when things all go to plan lol

Did you try Leonardo's CSI Nib? They offer two, one Medium and one Broad.
Haven't tried those yet. This is my only Leonardo pen so far

Hi there...I find lots of variation between 1.1 nibs.... Nice vid
I hear ya. No real standardization it seems, just call it whatever width you think it is lol

This is a steel nib. Not sure how the gold one compares as I have never tried one
@@Doodlebud based in your review, I ordered mine :-) I love how it writes. Also 1.1 stub steel

@@Doodlebud Cheers! :)
should tell you.. you got a great voice
Hey thanks!
yes.. different nibs.. could do a nib swap to test in converse bodies :)
If I have a hard start, I just draw a line with the top of the nib (ie reverse writing). It starts right up after that.
Thanks for sharing

The Pilot Plumix at less than $15 is a spectacular stub nib. It does require good handwriting but it competes with stubs from Pelikan
I have Pilot stubs and TWSBI stubs and NONE of them are scratchy. They are very smooth and wonderful writers!
Pilot Metro Stubs I meant to say there.
