All I want for the 15th anniversary is a RT podcast with the original crew, Burnie, Geoff, Gus, Matt, and Joel. It could even be for a #500th episode special. It’s just been so long since we’ve had the original crew that started it all together.
The garlic bread guy did a video of him making garlic bread from scratch and compared it to store-bought garlic bread as well as a store-bought baguette that he tarted up with homemade garlic butter. He ended up just doing the store-bought baguette for the edge of space video.
Then that means he didnt make the garlic bread for the video... He bought bread and garlic seasoning and butter... From the store and, 1+1×1=space fish
Been a fan since 2004-2005. Still here. I remember when Barb & Gav were interning at RT. So cool to see them still here and doing so well! Love you all so much. Thank you for still making incredible content everyday for us ❤️
The thing I regret most, over the course of being as old a fan as Barb and Gav, is not being involved in anything RT. Sure I've watched their content for 15 years, but never felt the urgency to get involved. Though I suppose your options are limited when you were 12 back in 2004.
theSilentCartographer Pft, I wish I was 12 by ‘04. By 2010, you could’ve tried to intern back at the congress office when there was only around 10 to 20 people working there.
theSilentCartographer I was 10/11 in 2004 so I know the feeling. But I’m still watching their stuff everyday and I’m just glad they’re still there. Maybe one day I’ll get that studio tour like they use to do at congress or even 636
Technically all solids are already "frozen". For example, metals melt at very hot temperatures, but they also "freeze" far above room temperature (besides metals like gallium or mercury)
1:14:35 As Gavin is getting emotional, I have a flashback of chocolate Trevor with ping pong balls... I wish I could Photoshop strawberries on him instead.
They definitely should NOT redo RWBY season 1 & 2. Those were the seasons Monty worked on. It's got his fingerprints all over it. So redoing them is like erasing a part of his legacy.
To "freeze" means to transition from a liquid to a solid. Water freezes at 32 degrees, but other substances like metals freeze at 2000+ degrees. It doesn't happen when something "gets really cold", it happens when something reaches its freezing point, which is different for every material
In regards to the rock conversation, when I was in scouts I heard several times that you shouldn't make a fire ring with rocks from a river bed. They said that there was water in them so if heated up enough, the water would expand and the rock could shatter/explode. Idk if it's true, but it sounded plausible.
Gavin is right something has to be a liquid to be frozen, things that are solid are technically already frozen. When you freeze bread you freeze the moisture.
Having just binged 2016 RT Podcasts, the plane fatalities talk was nearly verbatim (minus the most recent addition to the story) to one from 2 years ago, including reactions.
I do the exact same. Rather than have it go bad, I toss it in the freezer and when I need more bread I take it out. I can't tell the difference between bread that was frozen and 'fresh' bread. I do it to bread rolls too. Really doesn't matter. Unless you're a bread snob, I guess. My dad thinks there's a difference, but he's a snob.
I can't believe it was 5 years ago when you celebrated being 10 years old (not sure how I worked that out). I just remember it so well and its so weird to think 5 years has gone that quick.
Technically anything that is solid is frozen. The transition of liquid to solid is called freezing, liquid to gas is boiling, solid to liquid is melting, etc.
Gavin is correct in a way, that a dry piece of toast does not contain enough water to actually freeze solid. You can eat it right away. If the toast has butter in it, it will become chewy.
Has no one else ever been kicked out of a Starbucks before? I thought it was common practice. Ive entered a Starbucks less then 5 times and the 2 times I was not getting something I was asked to leave not more than a minute after I entered and didnt approach the counter.
So....you don't see how wrong it is to be asked to leave "not more than a minute" after you enter without ordering? What kind of business would do that?
Speaking about the 18 year olds from 2000, I was born in 2001, and I can now buy M rated games at a GameStop without a signature. It flipped me out the first time I went in
Going back to the starbucks thing: The trespassers asked to use the bathroom, which forced the staff to react to them. Had they minded their own business, the staff probably wouldn't have asked them to leave. When you're not a paying customer, it is within the right of the store to ask you to leave so a paying customer can use the facilities.
It's not weird, and there's plenty of reasons why you wouldn't want 'guests' in your cafe. They wear down the place slowly. Sitting on the chairs, using the bathroom and walking along the floor. If they're not paying you have to cover these (although minimal) costs out of your own pocket. If your store is full, each seat taken by a guest is a seat not taken by a paying customer. If customers are looking for a less crowded area, having a handful of guests in your cafe can cause paying customers to seek out another cafe. If you disrespect the staff when they ask you to buy something or leave you're causing trouble.
One asked to use the bathroom and was denied. A witness said a woman walked in and asked to use the bathroom some time later and they gave her the code right away without asking her to buy anything. Another women stood up when the men were being arrested and said she had been there for "a couple of hours" without buying anything but no one said anything to her. They were singled out because they were black. I can't believe it's so hard for people to grasp the absurdity of the situation.
I'm gonna help you guys out. If it's solid it's already the "frozen" form of the material, because everything has different melting points. Water melts at 100 C but gold melts at a much higher temper and "freezes" at a much higher temperature.
The thing that was strange about SWA 1380 wasn't really that the turbine failed, it was that it wasn't contained the way it should have been, the protective band around the blades broke apart instead of containing any blade/ engine failure. Though trajic, for an engineer like myself, I was incredibly interested in why the saftey feature failed this one time.
I've only just realised this but there is something about the thumbnails of the RT Podcast videos that makes me want to watch them. It's not so much as click bait but I think it's the face of Burnie 😂😂😂 I don't understand why though.
@ 24:00 gavin is absolutely right. this is a group of people that apparently dont know how a manual car works. the turtle back on a road is not enough grade to stop a car rolling. the grade on a turtle back road is less that %1 and the weight of the car alone will overcome that. if the road is sloped in any direction more than %1 Gavins idea will absolutely happen.
If you WATCHED the video Gus, the inside was a solid mass of stuff, not just butter and garlic. Thats how it was frozen. And that how it was "made" and not just bread with butter on it.
I have never felt more sorry for Guss on this one. talking to three people that instead of waiting the hear him out they just start shutting him down before he can finish what his saying.
45:13 when I sent something up with school, we had to have confirmation on where and when we could do it, do flight calculations and could only fly it if was gonna land in a certain region
It is tough to put the heatsink on because the boards are thinner and more flexible. One must use some sort of hard static-free foam to press against. IRL, Intel had cradles you put under the pegs to put those in. Used to. Can't find them anymore.
RT podcast talking about Tom Scott... Not an interaction I ever thought I'd see, but hey, now I can connect RT to Brady Haran's stuff and a bunch more people from there, that's cool
5 years too late but you can freeze rocks so long as there is enough fractures in the stone that the water can penetrate and then expand when reaching freezing temperatures. For enhydros, freezing can break those as well. I knew people that accidently left their crystals with water pockets outside and they broke when it reached freezing temps. Some enhydros can even evaporated through the material under the right circumstances. The more you know. 🌈🌟
In regards to Gavins thoughts on aircraft engines surviving bird strikes, they actually tend to heavily mess up the engine, these are highly tuned pieces of equipment that are measured to thousandths of an inch. So yes, it is possible for an engine to survive a bird strike, but something as small as a zip tie or a nut off a bolt can completely destroy an engine, hence why aircraft carrier crew did (maybe still do I'm not sure) walks down the deck shoulder to shoulder looking for any foreign object debris.
I listened to you guys laud Fogo de Chao then 10 minutes later got an email from my company about a fundraising event there. I live in DC, I didn't know there was one here. I might have to give it a try sometime.
Here's why it's different for Starbucks in Austin and why it would be different if they had laptops. In that area where the Starbucks is they have had big problems with vagrants coming, people doing drugs in the bathroom and other things that has led to the policy of you have to buy something to stay there. Classic example of people living in an area without those problems judging the people who have to deal with them. Congratulations, the Starbucks you frequent are in nicer neighborhoods than this one. But okay, let's say the manager wanted them out because she's racist, even though nothing in her time there would suggest so, they still had plenty of chances to leave without incident. The police talked with them for 7 minutes telling them this is private property and if they don't leave they will get arrested.
Does the UK store mean I can buy t-shirts and not have to pay 30% tax on imports, or have to get them sent to my dad's house in TX and collect them or get them brought over when one of us travels maybe once a year?
Martin Jamieson - 30% tax? If it's over £15 it should be 20% (VAT on imports) in UK, but then the Royal Mail will slap a £8 _handling fee_ on top of that. If the RT merch has a UK distributor, it would certainly make it a better, more affordable option. Probably better for EU buyers too.
go stuff yourself full of pure meat until you feel sick, and then ask this question to yourself again. Also, Burnie is wealthy AF. 40$ to you is probably like 10$ to him
Working in a glue factory, I can assure you I've never seen, heard, smelt, or noticed any signs of a horse. All we use is solvent chemicals, rubbers, and dyes to make our stuff. Even though I know Gavin will never see this.
I once had a friend who didn't have wifi at his house so he would go to Starbucks literally from 3pm to closing everyday to play videogames. He told me how at first he would buy a drink a day however he got tired of that and started just ordering food from other places to starbucks and practically lived there
I HAVE THE GREATEST IDEA: DO IT ON THE NEXT STEAK PODCAST. MAKE THE STEAKES AND SEND THEM TO SPACE AND TRY THE FRESH ONES FIRST AND THEN TRY THE SPACE ONES AND SAY WHICH WAN WAS BETTER FRESH AND WHICH LIVED THROUGH THE JORNEY THE BEST
When they were talking about bringing a typewriter into Starbucks, all I could think of was the typewriter song and someone going into Starbucks and playing that. Do people today even know that song? Do they even know what a typewriter is?
Regarding remastering old footage for superior style or resolution-I completely understand not completely redoing RWBY Volumes 1 & 2, but if you're doing something for some anniversary, the original RWBY trailers (Red if we had to pick one) would be incredible and remarkably nostalgic.
I was sick from copenhagen to barcelona, same on the back flight and the way back was even worse. I was dizzy, couldn't keep the food i ate and all i could have was water in tiny amounts and chewing gum, it was horrible. But I can't imagine flying for 10 hours with food poisoning.
I’m sure toast will freeze, you’d have to really dehydrate something like super Freeze dry or dehydrate something and that is very difficult because a significantly large amount of moisture is removed to the point it doesn’t go bad, roast can go bad because it is dehydrated but it retains some moisture. So it can freeze maybe not as solid.
So are they opening a production studio in the UK? I wish they would open one in Canada. I can think of several different Canadian UA-camrs that would be awesome hires for an RT North production studio.
They need to make a series that puts Gavin’s ideas to the test
All I want for the 15th anniversary is a RT podcast with the original crew, Burnie, Geoff, Gus, Matt, and Joel. It could even be for a #500th episode special. It’s just been so long since we’ve had the original crew that started it all together.
what about Jason saldana ?
Rick H that would be great but I doubt that would happen, Burnie has said that Jason has no interest in doing podcasts or stuff like that
oh ok. I didn't know that, thanks.
What a sad disappointment past you was set up for
We up woo woo
Did you just let Gavin get away with saying toast isn't a solid?
The internet shall not forget this
The states of matter: solid, liquid, gas, plasma, toast.
The six states of matter: solid, liquid, gas, plasma, toast, and shutting off.
"Toast isn't a solid" -Gavin Free
Wise words Free wise words...
STRAF3x I was hoping someone else noticed that
Well once you eat it it becomes a gas, then a solid in the toilet
new RT-Shirt
wheres risinger he better get on it quick
Burnie must have said "it shuts off" like 20 times in 1 minute
The garlic bread guy did a video of him making garlic bread from scratch and compared it to store-bought garlic bread as well as a store-bought baguette that he tarted up with homemade garlic butter. He ended up just doing the store-bought baguette for the edge of space video.

No, he bought the bread but made the garlic butter himself
I love it when they argue semantics.
Mr Hot Salsa almost kinda like its their fallback if they cant think of stuff :o
Akaash Ram still interesting
As someone who has literally studied semantics, it's both hilarious and infuriating at the same time.

theSilentCartographer i know exactly what you mean, looks more or less impossible to do anything at all now
oi at least you have other a decade on them i'm only a year or 2 older then rooster teeth is
Doesn’t matter. There’s always new companies starting that will become the new rooster teeth. Just gotta find one or create your own.
theSilentCartographer Pft, I wish I was 12 by ‘04. By 2010, you could’ve tried to intern back at the congress office when there was only around 10 to 20 people working there.

I haven't been here in a while and then they talk about Bread for 30mins great podcast
11:30 "Toast isn't a solid"
Complix and eyes arnt real
Thank you sir, I missed that small bit of greatness lmao
They definitely should NOT redo RWBY season 1 & 2. Those were the seasons Monty worked on. It's got his fingerprints all over it. So redoing them is like erasing a part of his legacy.
I love it when it's gus, burnie, Gavin, and Barbara... I keep hoping. Thanks

Note to self: it shuts off at 1:10:06
Gavin is right something has to be a liquid to be frozen, things that are solid are technically already frozen. When you freeze bread you freeze the moisture.
Does anyone know what was wrong with Burnie's computer? Did it shut
off?
no i think it shut off
It shut off.
C’mon guys, for real though...it shut off.
Sawyer A maybe it shut off?
This is what being old friends is about. Laughing and arguing about the stupidest things. ".... and it shuts off." LMAO SOOOO FUNNYYY lol
I bet that Garlic bread was _out of this world_ ...
K915B Khalid Brown is this barb’s anonymous UA-cam profile?
Jon Logan I just make sure no pun goes _puntold_
It was almost.
♥️
Well... it was still technically in this world soooo...
i've never laughed as much as i did through the whole of this podcast, especially the frozen toast/garlic bread debate 😂 You guys are comedy geniuses
Last week Gavin was blue. This week he's red. Maybe green next week?
"Does bread freeze" gavin's next shirt
Hope next podcast they talk more about what they just ate for lunch and what they should eat for dinner...
I'm one of those kids born in 2000 who's leaving for college this year
Good luck. Don't let all that studying get in the way of why you're really there, to party and have fun.
Having just binged 2016 RT Podcasts, the plane fatalities talk was nearly verbatim (minus the most recent addition to the story) to one from 2 years ago, including reactions.
as soon as they started talking about the 15yr Doc i stopped and went and watched it. amazing, truely amazing.
I like that fade from the photo to Barb and Gavin, it's a nice detail
I freeze bread all the time, it last longer, i defrost it in the fridge from the freezer. I can buy lots of bread to last awhile.
I used to make my sandwiches for school with frozen bread and it just defrosts but stays cool by lunchtime.
faceless58 wouldn't your sandwich be soggy?
TheLast Esper it just reverts back its original form because the moisture was already in the bread to begin with.
If you can't tell the difference between fresh and frozen bread, that just means you've never had fresh bread.
I don't think I've ever heard Barb laugh as genuinely as she did at 1:11:15. Oh my goodness I love her laugh there.
At 11:30 did Gavin say that toast isn’t a solid
Please do and RTA on this! 1:10:07
Love the bursts of loud laughter coming from somewhere. XD
Yea, it's from the camera/audio crew.

It must have been because you are black.
Sir the whiny brat community regrets to inform you that you must have black skin or your opinion on the matter has no value.
So....you don't see how wrong it is to be asked to leave "not more than a minute" after you enter without ordering? What kind of business would do that?
@@BardocksSynphony Do you know what loitering is?

Oh so a unsubstantiated claim was made and you just believe that's the case?
I notice you didn't mention they were black...racist.
44:38 That was an epic callback, it was so good most of them didn't even put it together. XD Nice one, Gav.
The OG crew is back!!
I'm gonna help you guys out.
If it's solid it's already the "frozen" form of the material, because everything has different melting points. Water melts at 100 C but gold melts at a much higher temper and "freezes" at a much higher temperature.

So it can freeze maybe not as solid.
Burnie's computer just sails right out there.
Burnie's most likely right. If it shuts off once, it's usually heat. If it keeps cycling on/off then it's more likely power supply.
This episode should definitely have been called "It Shuts Off" lol
So are they opening a production studio in the UK? I wish they would open one in Canada. I can think of several different Canadian UA-camrs that would be awesome hires for an RT North production studio.
RT prefers to import their Canadians. Brits lose something in transit.
1:17:40 I just went to sub to Baba Sen, and apparently he's passed away.
