Expecting delivery today of my Trail-Runner. It looks like a capable rock climber with the bigger wheel/tire combo. I agree that the 1.5 wheels look better with the larger tires. Great video as always! :)
I like the Injora 1.55 beadlocks. They look very similar to the RC4WD ones but at a fraction of the cost. There's a lot of different designs / colours on Ebay if you don't mind waiting a little while on shopping. Their 1.55 tyres are pretty good as well for trailing, but not convinced they would be great on the rocks. Maybe a little better than stock still.
oh man that body gets caught on everything.. great truck tho and cant wait to pick one up! thanks for confirming that the class 1 hyrax tires fit no problem
I like them... I think the axail rims look really good on gen8 too. Little smaller scale then other rigs its classed with for sure... like to see how a lil weighted rims with after market tire. The truck seems extremely capable its size...
I love the 4.19 tires better than the stock 1.55. Maybe a heavier silver finished beadlock wheels to make the rig more planted. The 10-3 plastic wheels are light. Just my 2c.
Made a Noob mistake and bought my 1st set of Hyrax G8 1.9, and accidentally got the class 1 tires. Going from 4.73" tire to a 4.19" tire was a big change. I mounted them on some classic look Centerline type Aluminum Beadlocks and I was surprised that other than having to adjust for clearance on my approaches, the tires climbed much better than the stock Axe tires. The extra wheel weight probably was a factor, but i was impressed with this tire, even in the G8. I have a set of Hyrax 1.9 (4.73") Predators on order, and am mounting on some gorgeous Treal Beadlocks. The wheels are almost to beautiful to crawl with, bling bling.
Well.. You still have the stock "bumpers" on it so that is part of the issue. The front bumper included with the addons for the truck provides an extra half inch of front clearance. I have no issue at all crawling on my 4.19 Mickey Thompson Baja Claws.
I like ur videos I learn alot from them. I have a question, I bought my kids a trailrunner and put some of these 1.9 hyrax tires and wheels on and there's a lot of body rub how did you get it to not rub. I tried to lift body mounts but they are all the way up already.
Hey, this isn’t directly related but I have a question about a vehicle you inspired me to purchase and I’m excited to start upgrading. I bought a used xmaxx and got a great deal. It’s the 6s with an 8s upgrade. Which batteries do you recommend, which esc/motor, I intend on reaching 45-55mph, and I want to jump it so basic bashing upgrades for durability and I know you’ve tested about everything I can think of. Please let me know and I’ll be sure to purchase everything with your affiliate link and Igbo can find how to join I’ll make a donation monthly to help out. Your channel is my favorite because I can depend on getting real honest advice and you stay busy for us. I appreciate you!
Hey man. Thank you. I’ve had the 6S to 8s before and now have the 8s. The best overall combo I’ve had so far (it’s not cheap) is the castle monster x8s and 800kv combo with a 45t pinion and stock spur. Tomorrow I have a new video out on it using the WFO motor mount and 30/35 mod 1.5 gears. You don’t need those gears yet to get going. I will soon be testing out the castle 1650 on 8s in it as soon as I get the parts in. 45-55 is easy to get with the Xmaxx. I can send links this evening to get these parts if you really want to spend the money. What all does the Xmaxx need to get it running? Maybe we can go cheaper to get you having fun with it. That’s the #1 thing.
Thanks for the reply, I may hold off a couple weeks and go for the castle. Overall, I really like the mamba x on my crawlers so having the castle’s programming is probably going to make me happier in the long run. If you wanna send the link for the castle I’ll use it when I buy. Not sure amazon has it
As intriguing as well as 'scale' is the independent front suspension on this RC truck I find its cheesy lack of inner fenders and the stupidly diminutive wheels and tires a total turn-off. Apparently, though, the manufacturer is sending out scores of them to youtube RC content creators (complimentary?) because every last one of you is gushing over this uniquely engineered but barely perfunctory mediocrity.
I'm not big enough to get free trucks, when I first looked at it, I almost sent it back. But then I drove it and it was way better than I thought it would be, it surprises me when I put it on stuff that's beyond what its supposed to do. I have some mods in the works for it and I'm still trying to get that fender!! LOL
@@ExocagedRC I'd sooner peel off the cash for the aftermarket independent front suspension offering for my TRX-4 than waste my time and money on this gilded lily.
I’m running 1.9 class 1 Rc4wd wrangler Mtr they fit perfect on some heavy SSD contenders in grey finish. Looks scale TRD style 😎

The slightly larger tire OD looks good.
the small tire in back is the Class 1 Hyrax
I'm not a crawler person but I have really been intrigued lately. Good video!
Gotta hand it to the TrailRunner, it has a hollow plastic scraping, plastic twisting, groaning sound all it's own. LOL. Thanks for the vid. 👍
Those tires look so much better on that rig
3:35 lmao the front suspension tho.

You bet

The 1.55 Wheels look so much more Scale... I wish there were 1.55 Hyraxes.

New wheel size definitely looks better

Hyrax 1.9's Class 1 on the stock Proline foams. Running Proline 2 Stage on my stock Axe tires now, replacing tire with Hyrax 1.9 Predators

Seems like an exhaust delete is needed also along with a butt lift...
Awesome videos as always! 😎👍
1.55 growlers are 4.19 i like it, it's more realistic
Wppow I am impressed
A better crawl with the new tyres, I quite like the silver you have with the predator tyres, each to there own,😀😀😀

These are the 4.19 tire size, you may have got the 4.75" size

yeeesh, the approach angle on that thing is just the worst. haha.
👍🏾
Paint the “beadlock” rim black and leave the centre silver and they might look better then.
try a set of 1.55x4.19 boomracing hustlers in super soft NOT ultra soft
with the 1.55 boomracing 16 hole steelies they are reversable
Are you gonna get the proline body for the udr? Since you said you were in a older udr vid.
well I've seen the retro style and its not really what I'm after for it, besides I just bought a new Rigid body so I gotta tear that one up first lol
Exocaged RC yeah I don’t really like the old style too but I’m interested to see if it’s stronger then stock
I couldnt listen to that lexan just rub and drag like that. Really should be bumpers on this thing
Truck looks great with the bigger tires but this video helped me decide l will not be getting this truck
Ifs is a unique scale look but like leafsprings brings the performance way down
Once I get a few more videos in with it, I'll probably put it on the shelf except for trail stuff and the USTE in February
It doesn't matter what tires you put it'll still sound like a piece of plastic been dragged over broken concrete!
