    get a large space station into SUCH a low orbit around a planet or moon where if the space station is oriented in the wrong way it will crash into the planet at least. and then have bill jump over it when it comes by.

    i've seen this on almost every SSTO design that features rapiers: why do people put a little inverted nosecone on the end of the rapier? does it actually improve aerodynamics, or does it just look cool?

      It actually reduces drag =)

    • @Snubbs
      @Snubbs 7 років тому +1

      nifty! Does it reduce thrust at all? i would've thought that sticking something on the end of an engine would drop the total amount of thrust it could produce. Or does KSP not model that/model it so well that the thrust actually comes from the four nozzles rather than the centre of the engine?

    How does he do this? I can't get out of the atmosphere with 2 clydesdales

    • @t65bx25
      @t65bx25 4 роки тому +1

      Clydesdales are boosters designed to supplement a Rocket’s delta-v/TWR upon launch and be jettisoned early in the flight. If you want to get out of the atmosphere, do this:
      Rocket- Place a MK1 pod (black w/white stripes one) and mount a TD-12 (not TS-12) decoupler underneath. Then mount a FL-T800 tank under the decoupler, and finally an LV-T45 Swivel engine at the bottom. Mount 4 AV-R8 fins around the bottom of the tank, and don’t forget to put a MK16 parachute on top of the pod.
      Flight- First, check yo’ staging: Should have the engine in the first stage and both the decoupler and parachute in the second stage. Activate SAS (press T) before ignition, then throttle up and blast off. Head straight up until you pass 100m/s on the navball’s speed indicator, and then begin gently pitching eastward. You should be flying a little steeper than roughly 45° by the time the engine burns out. Once you leave the atmosphere, stage the booster away and prime the chute, and point the capsule to have its flatter side face first. The capsule should land itself after that.

    You talked about all the hypocrisy and ridiculous claims people believe in and I basically think the same way. However, you specifically addressed religion as ridiculous beliefs and in that case I have to object. Even though I don’t believe in god for the exact reason that it’s scientifically unprovable (and thus insignificant for the actual world) I would call it extremely arrogant and ignorant not allow believing in meaning which science can’t provide whatsoever.
    Unless it’s the kind of believing in wonders but the church I know (European Christianity) specifically states to support the Big Bang theory, evolution and also confirms that all of the Bible’s content is written by humans and thus to be seen as such.

      KSP of course only uses a simplified gravity system where celestial bodies are on rails around the celestial body above them in the hierarchy, and vessels are only affected by one celestial body according to SOI (sphere of influence). In reality, every celestial body affects each other and any vessel. This "n-body problem" is computationally hard and long term unpredictable (search for "ternary star system" e.g.), which is why KSP uses the simple model. However, in the n-body approach, there exist many more possibilities to optimize dV at the expense of travel time.[1]

    Brad, I think that at some point when you've exhausted all the stock planets you should get the outer planets mod, saying the KSC discovered more planets, and try your hand at going to them. I'm certain you can do it knowing how good your oversized SSTO here already is.

    I dont think anyone (mostly) thinks the world is flat. I have heard other things about how space flight is impossible that sound a lot more put together (radiation belt, how physics dont work like that, exc) and i do think people believe that, even if they are just a wrong. Humanity has never collectively thought the world was flat. We could see the shape of the moon and other bodies, the shadow of the earth on the moon, and how the botom of objects at sea was obscured by the curvature, to tell us its shape. We may have thought it was the center of the solar system, and even that it was much smaller, but ever since people wondered what shape the planet was, we have known it was a sphere. The flat earth thing comes from an old fantasy novel and has been taken by some people as an actual belief. Sadly those "some people" were cultists that formed Zetetic Societies in the 1800s and published books with flawed experiments cited as proof. More people believe in a flat earth today than they did in ancient egypt or rome but most people are just trolls.
    The claims of vaccines giving you autism, global warming being false, and the worldwide belief in magic is the real problems that do cause real damage. The biggest problem is these beliefs only exist still because people want them to. They dont want to be wrong or to think about things in diferent ways. You cant show them evidence or ask for it because facts and evidence are irrelevant to them. The entire foundation for these things has nothing to do with faith and belief, it has to do with not believing anything else.

      "if only everyone in america".. Yeah.. Only the human beings specifically residing in america are opinionated political hypocritical idiots.. It seemed the main part of your moral was "no matter what point you choose to put forward, always double-check it yourself, because no matter how right you think you are, there's always a chance you might still be wrong." I created a similar moral for myself to follow, back when I was 14. "Never assume, make educated guesses"

    • @BradleyWhistance

      I agree with the concept here, but "Nobody knows anything" is a bit too much of a solipsist aesthetic for me. I prefer to say that I know some things, but with the awareness that most of this knowledge comes through inductive processes that are inherently probabilistic or non-absolute in nature.
      There are some things which no one could know anything about. The supernatural is one of them. If someone has justification for the supernatural, that means they have observed supernatural phenomena. If they have observed supernatural phenomena, this phenomena is a part of nature. It is therefore not supernatural. Supernatural phenomena falls into the rare category of things that can be refuted through deductive reasoning.
      (NOTE: Not all god claims argue for a supernatural god, most theists argue for a god that manifests in the natural universe)

    While I never aim to force god upon others as it’s their choice what they believe in, I do want to challenge your viewpoint on god. While a scientific belief in god is definitely irrational, god does not exist in a physical sense, and cannot be perceived through observation or our mind, which is why almost all theological arguments you’ve heard fall flat.
    I believe in god, and specifically the Christian god, because when I read the New Testament I feel a sense of life in my spirit. A feeling beyond just mental knowledge or emotion. I can’t describe this feeling through words as it isn’t something words can convey.
    If you really want to know if god is real I challenge you to read the gospel, read through the book of John at least and give it a chance. Worst case you learn something about how a large amount of people believe.

      @@K.O240 I don't understand the "more pizza" thing, is that a reference to something? And I don't believe others "should" be Christian, it's up to you to decide and research what you believe, not up to your parents to tell you to believe what they believe because they believe it.

    • @skillcheese

      Kevin O fair point, I agree with you that most religious people are religious out of tradition and I think that is not a good foundation for any belief. “I believe it because I believe it” sort of mindset is dangerous, and can lead to all sorts of problems.
      Nice to have a civilized discussion about this.
