    I have the same issue too. I’m not happy with it, so thanks. There’s a scene to ruin the display. I did it for about six months. It doesn’t round display.

    IP67 waterproof, able to withstand immersion for up to
    30 minutes and at a depth of up to 1 meter. Not to be confused with able to withstand being constantly covered in juice :D

  • @VulcanGoF
    @VulcanGoF 6 років тому +1

    I too, have the same problem. The juice doesn't make it into the USB as others have stated, the rubber plug works great for that. Juice seems to leak in around the button as you have said. I have removed the cover on a few occasions and cleaned it out, but it's to the point now, where the Phillips head screws that hold the water proofing in place, are starting to rust.

    • @guvnafied
      @guvnafied  6 років тому +1

      That's a good point... Rust. I actually have given up cleaning the inside, figuring it's pointless, but now I know with rust there's limited time left for this mod. Very disappointing, I expected more from Geekvape.

    • @VulcanGoF
      @VulcanGoF 5 років тому

      @@guvnafied Update: after the screw got worse, I put some vinegar on it (vinegar removes surface rust and corrosion). There's no real damage to the screws. There's some very very light surface pitting, but I think that is engineered. I believe the screws have a coating of some sort. By the color, I'm thinking, probably titanium dioxide.

    On the button part, they didn’t put a seal so when you push the button that’s where the water is going into the display so they should’ve put a seal where the button is you click, so I think geek should fix that with a new waterproof button seal

    Nothing to worry about. The water seeps in from the firing button.
    You can drain it by turning it upside down and pushing the button.
    The circuit including the actual screen is waterproof, as it sits behind the decorative components including the outside screen cover.
    If you read the GeekVape forum they mention this. Nothing to worry about.
    I wash mine under a sink everyday and get the same thing. No harm.

      but... its an extremely poor design fail, they should have tested this and resolved it before it ever came to market, and offer replacements. NOT a replacement screen that will not address the issue.

    Ok man I fixed mine. All you have to do is with a plastic edge tool like a guitar pick get under the plastic screen the first layer and pry it off. Work ya way from bottom up just don't bend it to much.Pull back the silicon to get under it. Was quite easy just be gental it's only stuck on with sticky adhesive. I cleaned it with tissue and stuck it back on. I actually used a little flat head screw driver but something plastic would probably be better.

    • @guvnafied
      @guvnafied  6 років тому

      good job! What did you use to stick it back on? Or did you just use the remaining adhesive?

      A guy down below said its through the fire button (I originally thought the 510 but that is incorrect) - and that seems to be right as I was able to squeeze some out of the FB while holding it upside down. Geekvape told me it was a "design fault".

      I'm getting some RADBAR DOUBLE-SIDED MEMBRANE TAPE 4000GA 50 X 10M from the shops tonight, as when I did it (carefully) the tape didnt stick back as I'd like. I'll cut the exact proportion out and replace.

    A while back I was charging my geek vape aegis (same mod as yours) over night and my tank leaked , well it leaked right into the charging port while it was charging, kept displaying battery problem when trying to fire it up so I tried drying it to get the juice out but was still not working , I figured it most have short circuited due to the juice and electricity for charging , bought a new mod , 6 months later I decided to try and see if it would work again to my surprise it did and has been working for over a year with no problems but I no longer use the charging port to charge it in fear that their might be left over juice in the port and I don’t want it to short circuit again , sorry for the paragraph but thought I’d put my input on water damage and the geek vape aegis

    A leaking tank is a bad problem even if the mod is waterproof/dustproof. Just bought mine two weeks ago and I have my "go to" tank, which is the freemax mesh pro. No issues

    • @guvnafied
      @guvnafied  5 років тому

      It is. I now have a Dead Rabbit RTA that cannot leak. Its a pity, as its good, but not as good as the Griffin 25 plus, but no more leaking... but the fact remains - its a screw up in design. Water still enters it if you wash it.

  • @gbalkam

    Just wait a bit. Eventually enough juice will leak in that the screen first goes totally blank but still fires. ( sometimes it does work properly, but mostly stays black) and eventually will not even turn on or fire. I have noticed if you let the mod sit a day or two it will fire and screen works for awhile, but then goes blank screen and no power again. That said.. I dropped my seawolf mod (usually my spare) in the bath tub last nite.. Took the batteries out, shook out excess water.. and BAKED it in the over on WARM (less than 200F *around 175* for a few hours) Not hot enough to melt anything but hot enough to evaporate liquid. Not sure, but this might work for ejuice as well.

    There are 2 screens the inner cover that is the water proof part. The outer screen is customer serviceable. Mine won't detect the coil on any tank. All tanks I've tried work on other mods not mine. Atleast urs still works be happy about that. I got an $80 boat anchor.

    I had juice leaking behind the screen. Geekvape said it's ok and that the actual chips and board is sealed from the screen. They also said to get it out hold down the + & -. I suggest maybe when you sleep put a rubber band on it.

  • @gbalkam
    @gbalkam 5 років тому

    ok here is the thing.. the mod is waterproof.. BUT.. if your tank leaks at all, it can get into the 510 socket. I used a simple hack solution.. take a 22mm square of any rubberized tape.. gorilla tape, electrical tape, etc.. put the top cover of your atomizer on the square and cut around, punch a hole in the middle and adhere into place over the 510 so when you put your atomizer on, it forms a liquid proof seal under the atomizer.. 3 months now and NO issues. by the way.. if your tank leaks at the O rings.. you can use plumbers teflon tape to create a better seal

  • @FASHDADDY

    This is simply user error.
    The Aegis truly is waterproof BUT
    Because you have a super leaky tank please remember that anytime you press the fire button you are opening your Aegis up. The way they designed it, they assume if you accidentally drop your Aegis Legend into the tub or something ofcorse the fire button will not be firing when it is accidentally dropped into water.
    When you hit that fire button when you have e-juice leaking all over your mod you are just creating a gap every time for your e-juice to get in. Luckily there are 2 separate screens though. The important screen under the screen protector luckily is sealed so no water or e-juice will be able to get in there and effect the screens abilities.
    The outer screen is removable, it is only kept on with a light adhesive so you could very easily get a very small mini flathead screwdriver or something and carefully wedge it under the rubber at one of the upper corners and use even CAREFUL pressure to pull the screen away from the mod and you can go in and clean all of the e-juice out and simply replace the screen and it will be good as new.
    The reason why they will not pay the postage for you is because they know it is accidental user error and it could be a very simple fix if you just wanted to carefully clean it yourself :)
    I hope you are able to get it cleaned up and always remember to insure no e-juice is leaking before you hit the fire button :)

    • @guvnafied
      @guvnafied  5 років тому +2

      Hi @FASHDADDY1991 Thanks for your comment. On the last part - I've already done that (I actually had to replace the screen as the adhesive would not work when I attempted to replace the original screen, and as such know that the interior is waterproof.
      However, this really isn't the issue. What they should do, (or should have done) is make that clear on the packaging & advertising. People's tanks leak sometimes. It happens. If you use it in the rain, I assume this could happen also. You could unwittingly press the fire button when its submerged. The reality is that if someone has a leaky tank but loves the tank nevertheless, they would be the sort of person who would buy a waterproof mod in the first place.
      I've since changed tanks to one that is a top airflow so won't leak personally.
      What hasn't changed is my point that this IS a design fault. It would not be an engineering impossibility to stop this from happening in the first place. It's like saying 'If you drive your car in the rain, yes water will get into the door interior and inside panels, but you won't get wet, you will be cozy and dry inside" (until the panel and joining screws etc rust away, just like the Legend most likely would). That is just an excuse for missing an important design error.
      And I hate excuses.

    • @andyspencer6308
      @andyspencer6308 5 років тому +1

      I don't think that is the issue if I'm honest, mine has the same problem, brand new, happened on the first day. There was no fluid on the front screen to be let in through the fire button. I think the leak is elsewhere, seeping in from the top or corners of the screen cover maybe.

    • @larsvonrinpoche1229
      @larsvonrinpoche1229 5 років тому

      He also stated that his USB connector will no longer work and he cannot do updates. That is a more permanent issue.
      I can speak from experience, and say you may be correct in your theory on using the fire button while juice/moisture is present. However, I have never ever used my mod when a leak has occured ( I know this because if I pick my mod up and feel sticky...I clean it immediately. I refuse to do anything else until it's clean) and I recently noticed a small dab of moisture behind my screen towards the top. Very small compared to this guy's puddle at the bottom of his screen! Mine hasn't moved, hasn't dried up,. nothing. It has been there About a month.
      Anyhow..I've had TWO leaky situations, that's it. I was surprised to see the moisture collecting.
      I may write Geekvape just so there is a more realistic accounting of customers issues.
      I also wonder if it can seep through the USB plug.
      Anyhow, all in all a great mod, and I can easily understand the odd product that may not be perfect. I assume it will be another few years until these products are perfected , where manufacturers aren't rushing around to get new models out just to make a buck while the hype is still there. It will find stability, and only quality companies will remain.
      Untill then, we the consumer will continue to be the tester, guineas pig etc...and paying good money for this role we never signed up for.
      Just like every other piece of tech that arrives! Sigh.

  • @contestsvu4538

    I bought a Legend mod that at first glance looks just like this one. It has the same range buttons and plate, is that what it's called? Skeleton maybe? Whatever anyways, the screen cover isn't all one piece like yours. The display has it's own mini window surrounded by the rest of the front cover. I wonder if this is the updated version? My firmware says V1.1 2018 0611. I wonder if I need to update to avoid the shitty battery life I've read about.
    I can't abide a leaky tank. Leaky tanks have no buisness sitting on top of your mod. It's just asking for trouble. I either find a fix, or get a new tank. Also don't get in the habbit of purging. That means blowing outward while pushing the fire button. Condensation builds up on the mod and in the bottom of the tank that eventually spills over. It comes out of the airflow of your tank and gets on the top of your mod making it wet and messy.

    I have this problem with my brand new Aegis Legend (happened on the first day with fluid leaking from the vent holes).
    I did a lot of research, and choose this mod because of it's robustness and the fact it's waterproof (supposedly).
    I'm in agreement with you that they should send out a new one, surely once you start pulling the screen cover off that makes it less waterproof?
    What was the final outcome with your one? Sucks that you had to pay the postage for a faulty product.....

    • @guvnafied
      @guvnafied  5 років тому

      Hi Andy - they ended up sending me a new screen free of charge, but the problem happened again (this time from water). It's still waterproof on the inside, but a few others on the comments section here and I think that there is a fair chance this will rust out the device's screws/metal parts.
      Its pretty lame - I had a Wismec 2/3 before, which is nothing-proof, and there were zero issues with water under the LCD screen.

    • @joshualuck2145

      And also if u use an rta learn how to wick it right. The leaking is due to the fact that you don't know how to build an rta. Ive never built one but that's why I stick to subohm tanks, rda's, and rdta's

      Know this is old but my Geek Vape would do this and the fix for it was to unscrew the tank all the way and put it back. Ill have the batteries fully charged but on the screen it'll show that one of the batteries was completely dead but after the method above I posted it fixed it. Still shouldn't have to go through the trouble with this vape smh.

    Again???? I have the aegis 100. Careful with your 510s all the same. Had a leaky tank too and it took some time but it finally seeped in and built up beneath the connector and grounded my mod. Opened it up, cleaning and drying it now. Hope the damn thing works when I put it back together. Just planning to somehow add some silicon sealant on the 510 'n look for a leak proof tank. gee, thanks geek vape.

  • @gbalkam
    @gbalkam 4 роки тому

    The mod is liquid proof. The problem is with your atomizer. Juice leaks from the atomizer down into the 510 socket on the mod and heats and condenses under the screen. Very easy preventative fix. Clean the top of the mod so there is no dirt, juice, grease, fingerprints etc. Cut 2 inches of 1" wide rubberized tape (electrical tape, gorilla tape) and lay it across the 510 socket. Use wire cutters to clip away the tape ONLY over the 510 socket.. Screw a 22mm atomizer into the socket, then cut around the atomizer. Remove excess tape. Remove atomizer. You know have a liquid proof rubber gasket that prevent any liquid from entering the 510 socket. You can see my video on my channel. Google "Aegis Legend Liquid Under Screen Fix" I wont post the link so I don't hijack this guys post.

    If you want this mod to actually be waterproof, you need to fill the USB port with a permanent adhesive or stopper that can't be removed. If you were to actually do their waterproof test on 50 random mods that have had that thing open/closed by someone with a little oil/juice on their fingers, it'd probably fail 90% of the time. Any liquid that gets in there, and it's quite easy for that to happen, can kill the mod, and the positioning of it does absolutely 0 favors.

      I've been using a Uwell Nunchaku tank on mine. The .2Ω mesh coils are simply amazing. Outstanding flavor and longevity with these coils. I have two of these tanks and they've NEVER leaked. Not even a drop, it's so much better than the Cerberus or Aero tanks by Geekvape. You'd be wise to get a Nunchaku and a pack of the UN2 mesh coils .2Ω. They're rated "Best 50-60W", but I use them at 48W. Did I mention the fantastic flavor? Yeah, the flavor is really good..

      Hi @Dale - The shouldn't leak. I persisted with a leaky tank far longer than I should've. Most of the time with leaking tanks it's that it's not wicked properly (you've covered off the o-ring issue already). If you are sure your tank is properly wicked and it still leaks, get another tank.
      Hope that helps!

      No, tanks shouldn't be leaking in this day and age. I haven't had a leaky tank in years and I've been buying a lot of them. The actual coil head has orings on it as well.
      Try securing the coil head to the chimney first. Then put on the glass section. Lastly, attach the bottom of the tank making it fully assembled. A lot of the time, the coil head isn't making a proper seal to the chimney. This will cause the liquid to leak out. There's other fixes as well, you just have to pay attention to what's going on and problem solve.

      Hi! Its really easy to remove. I'd suggest using a hair dryer to make it easier, but my advice is to not worry about it. As long as you don't get any more liquid on it, it will dry up by itself. It doesn't affect the use much.

      Stick something thin like a fork prong in the airflow hole. Use the fork as a lever and torque it off. A mini screwdriver might work as well. I just grab a fork because they're readily available and work.

    • @guvnafied
      @guvnafied  6 років тому

      FWIW it's a good mod - it's still waterproof - it's just that water/juice can get under the plastic screen. If you are not OCD like me with this stuff and can put up with it, its still 100% waterproof, and a good mod. It's definitely tough. But I just couldn't stand looking at the liquid. They should have found this before release. It's almost like they tested the waterproof part (core) then that was it for the testing. They are aware of the issue, I told them. Perhaps they'll release a v2 - and that would be worth buying.

    • @eddyhaze8239
      @eddyhaze8239 6 років тому

      I think if you take a very thin sheet of rubber and drill a hole through it just enough for 510 to go through it would solve the problem ....as far as the mod there is a lot more problems with it than juice getting in it.

    I can't understand your issue here it's rated for submersion up to a metre not for constant leaking from a tank. My advice would be buy yourself a better tank, i've had my aegis legend for 3 months and it's almost in mint condition and im a heavy vaper (2 sets of sonys vtc6 used a day) the only problem I have is scratching around the 510 thread connection from switching out tanks. I've dropped it a few times even and still I have no damage. Just buy another one due to your crappy tank as the griffin leaks like hell dude, i've used both the innokin crios and zeus dual rta and have had not one leak.

    there is an issue with tanks leaking... all tanks do it, everyone walks around with their build in their pocket. the fault is that the usb charger dock is directly under the tank. this is a horrible design. the juice will eventually destroy your mod. DO NOT BUY THIS! over time the juice will react with the components inside the device even if you have cleaned it well. PCB's are supposed to completely dry after every time a device is used or fired up. I have no idea why geekvape didn't bother coating the PCB with con-formal coating... dumb asses trying to save money i guess >.>

    Ya those norms "IP67-68..." only applies to standard WATER not for gazified water, fruit juice or VG unfortunately but yea it's still quite a big engineering fault which I can hardly believe they haven't noticed from all their testing before giving the "OK" and building over 20 thousands unit world wide.
    It has happened to one of my customer within 2 weeks so I'm going to see with my wholesaler what they can do about it but it's good to know that otherwise Geekvape directly could prolly send a glass free of charge or at worse for 6$. I'm gonna go tell him.

  • @joshualuck2145

    I can tell you that the leaking is due to the fact that you don't know how to wick an rta. They are tough. That's why I stick to my subohm tanks, rda's, and rdta's. Rta's are the hardest to build solely based on the wicking.

    • @joshualuck2145
      @joshualuck2145 5 років тому

      So due to that fact this is partially your fault. On the other hand the mod is supposed to be waterproof. My guess is that due to mass production they probably did not get enough of the sealing adhesive to protect the screen. Goes to show if you want something fault proof never go through the Chinese. On the other hand I've had my aegis for 3 months and still don't have any issues (knock on wood)

  • @jhonhynodelacruz8962

    Did you not notice the leak? At the average of liquid on the screen it seems your atomizer leaking for about 1week. 😂

    • @guvnafied
      @guvnafied  5 років тому +1

      Hi John - yes I noticed the leak (of course!) - I clean it regularly but that tank just leaked - another Geekvape screwup. The thing is the mod slopes toward the fire button, so any liquid moves down the mod straight to the fire button. You don't need a lot of liquid for it to be visible on the screen, as the space inside the screen is extremely small.
