  • So, let's see what we've got going on with this 2014 Toyota Camry. Blows hot and refrigerant has been filled already. Customer was told it is an electrical problem and they don't do that stuff. Lucky fo rthem, we do and this Camry is a great example of how to test modern AC systems. Soooo....let's take a look.

    Refrigerant control valves are available on Amazon. I have replaced a couple already. They vary the refrigerant flow based on a PWM signal from the computer. I can tell if they are bad by reading my gauges if the refrigerant capacity is correct and there is no moisture in the system. I have also seen them stick and then suddenly open after a full system service. Some uninformed shops will try and sell the whole system when only the $30.00 control valve is bad. I just charge for the valve replacement and the system service, Happy customer. Great video. Thumbs up.

    Good work Joe. I watched the Denso webinar the other day. They guy basically admitted the flow sensor is problematic but not available as a separate part. He did suggest to look online as others are making this. If I remember correctly it's a hall effect sensor that measures a small floating magnet at the discharge port. 😁

    It is genuinely sad that professional shops out there tell a customer they cannot fix their car. I don't get that, I sometime struggle but I always fix the issue without changing "not broken" parts. I had a '16 Ford Focus not too long ago the shop told the lady that she would have to go to ford to get the ECU replaced and upon checking the car I found that the inertia was tripped and the car was out of gas do to an inaccurate gauge.

    If I am not mistaken there are 2 AC compressors that will work with same sensor TSE14C AND TSE17C. You should find one of those part numbers on the compressor. I believe the part number for the AC compressor / sensor you are looking for is a TSE17C OR TSE14C for the 2.5L. The TSE19C IS FOR THE 3.5 V6 SO DON'T CONFUSE THE PART NUMBERS FOR THE COMPRESSOR / SENSOR. They look the same but apparently there is a difference. You can search ebay amazon google, etc and find it. There ranging form around 20-80 dollars from what I see on ebay. Here is a link to one. If you do a more thorough search you will find what you want. Just be careful as some ship from china on ebay and shipping will take forever. I see them shipping from the united states as well that is what your looking for to cut down ship time. Besides that there all probably made in china no matter where you purchase from. www.ebay.com/itm/A-C-FLOW-SENSOR-for-Denso-TSE17C-Compressor-fits-Camry-RAV4-Scion-TC-2-5-Liter/122789060293?hash=item1c96cc5ec5:g:OSgAAOSw0wRZ-jAv

      Did u change ur compressor? I have same issue on my rav4 2007

  • @SG-go9zc
    @SG-go9zc 4 роки тому +2

    This is an extremely common issue. This is my understanding of it. The sensor usually does not go bad. (When I see a sensor that quite working it has always been an aftermarket sensor.) It's a hall effect sensor, it just sits on top of the compressor case. Inside the compressor there is a metal disk that gets pushed closer or further from the sensor pulling the signal to ground ground when pressure ("flow") increases. The issue is that corrosion builds up pushing the sensor away from the compressor. When the system is off the HVAC ecu expected to see 3.8v-4.2v, this is its circuit test. When the sensor reads below that it flags the sensor bad (code b1479) and does not send power to the control valve (it's a clutch less compressor). If you push down on the sensor bringing up the voltage a smidge, the compressor kicks on. The problem is that the sensor can not be removed and then clean the rust because it breaks when trying to remove. To prove that the sensor really does work you can activate the ac "clutch" under active test and you will immediately see the flow sensor voltage change and show flow, it's just that the ECU flags it as bad sensor with it's rest voltage

Low line is sweating and high line is Luke warm. Alldata says flow sensor shouldn’t drop below 3.76v for more than 4 seconds. Mine is bouncing from 4.1v down to 3.55v. What I’m confused about is your Camry works with flow sensor in 2v range. Can you help me understand? Did you measure flow v after replacing compressor? I also have a history code b1479.
