I think what you're attributing to the "burial ground" is actually the Wendigo. The Wendigo cursed the land and is responsible for bringing the dead back, not the land itself. There's nothing significant about that spot of land other than it simply being where the Wendigo and its influence resides. Without the Wendigo, you have no cursed burial ground. Once you realize it's the Wendigo and its perpetual and insatiable hunger, as it were, for life, then the events become a bit more clear. It's been decades since I've read this, but I think having the knowledge of the burial ground passed onto you acts as sort of a curse and you become drawn to it as well as compelled to pass it on to others even if you don't want to, it sits and itches at the back of your brain until you make the mistake of passing it on to somebody else, and then those people pass it on, etc. almost like a virus. The Wendigo has influence over those who enter its territory, which is why trucks drive through the town so fast -- so they're more likely to hit and kill anything living that has the misfortune of crossing the road at that moment. Jud isn't some subtle villain, though, nor is he looking for reasons to visit the burial ground, it's the influence of the Wendigo. Pretty much the answer to everything is: the Wendigo did it. I'd recommend reading up on the lore of Wendigos because it'll help explain some things about Stephen King's version of it. Wendigos, if I recall correctly, seem to have been something made up to scare people away from committing heinous acts like cannibalism during times of famine.

My cat jumped in my lap earlier while i was reading. It made me jump and drop my book 😂 Its almost midnight where I'm from. I don't know how I'm supposed to go to bed now. Lmao

Of all the books I've read, Pet Semetary has the single most heartbreaking chapter in it. After reading that scene I had to put the book down for a couple days, because I just knew the rest of the book would be a precipitous descent into grief and madness.
My personal favorite King book. A lot of people say that IT is his masterpiece, but for me it’s Pet Sematary by a country mile. A dark and horrifying story about the nature of death and the inescapable reality of it. Love it! To add to your conspiracy theory, it’s possible that it was Judd, but also wasn’t. The book mentions that the burial ground and the Wendigo entity within manipulated the truck driver into speeding up his truck for no reason. The real horror at the core of the burial ground is that its power is inescapable and unshakable. To clarify/answer your question asked later in the video, the ending implies that bodies that return from the burial ground are possessed. When Louis kills Gage again, the real Gage returns right before he dies. It may have been my own interpretation, but my understanding was that there is an evil force beyond comprehension that steals and inhabits the bodies of those buried within.
Great video! My opinion on the evil in the woods is the Wendigo soured the ground. Any corpse buried out there gets possessed by the Wendigo and reanimated, not brought back to life. The reanimated corpse then returns to whoever buried it. Apparently the Wendigo has a supernatural ability to know people's dark secrets.

Really good stuff man. You actually got this factually accurate! I just reread the novel and wanted to check out some reviews to see if its as horrifying to others as it was to me. The movie as well. Actually saw the movie at 8 years old and it sparked my obsession with horror. My mom gave me the book the night i watched the movie. That's the reason im just not afraid of anything. Nothing can come close the terror that book puts you through. Well done

Fred Guin was great in the movie. He was also great in My Cousin Vinnie. I can say I have an only son that is about Gage's age and imagine doing anything to revive him if he died.
I could swear that they do explain their personality or why they are the way they are when they come back. They see something that upsets them, but their understanding depends on the animal. Jud's dog comes back as lame and docile (unlike the films,) because he cannot understand what he saw. The bull that comes back as always enraged because it remembers what it saw and has become really angry, but maybe doesn't fully comprehend it. Humans see, understand, and remember the thing/energy, and it causes them to lose a part of themselves, so they have a vendetta against the person who buried them. They want revenge on that person for causing them pain and for losing a part of themselves.
Alright guys, I'm a bit confused. I downloaded the audiobook of Pet Semetary but the audiobook isn't really matching with the book itself. As in they're starting from different places. The audiobook was basically broadcast on BBC Radio drama. So is that the right one and should I keep listening to it?

Excellent review - just one small thing you didn't mention in the multiverse bit: there's a mention of a large dog in Maine that went mad and killed its owners, which is clearly a nod to Cujo. He seemed to be pretty heavy on the references even this early on in his career!
theory: in the second movie, norma is said to have died before the events of the movie. there is a theory that jud brought back norma from the micmac burial ground but she attacked him with a knife and jud killed her. hence why jud has a long scar on his arm and dead Ellie tells jud that norma is rotting in hell or somet like that before he's killed. BUT wait, Imagine hat bud isn't really 83. he is actually middle aged just like Louis but is a victim of the ageing effect that made Louis look like an old man at the end of the book. it explains why norma herself looks middle aged when Ellie is impersonating her in the more scene. THEORY!

Don’t bother with the new movie it’s total jump scare trash, I was highly disappointed. I think I can provide some answers to your theories as I’ve read the book over a number of times 1. Jud didn’t kill church, in the novel King writes that Chruch didn’t even look broken or bashed in so if Jud had killed Church with a shovel it definitely would have shown severe blunt force trauma on Church’s body 2. Once resurrected the people in the mic mac burial ground are possessed by all knowing demons, but they aren’t immortal and can be killed easily. 3. Once the burial ground is fed with a fresh corpse the ancient evil plot of land within those evil woods comes alive and will do anything to the people that woke it up to stay fed. 4. Louis has all those drugs on hand because he had been a doctor for a few years before arriving in Ludlow and back in the days the Novel was written it’s quite plausible that a Doctor would have access and take quite a few medicine samples. Hope this helps.

I read 112263 over a period of 3 long days. I'd do a review on it but it's been many years since I read it.
Such a depressing book which shows the realistic grief that we go through, and the obsession of the burial ground is truly terrifying.
