  • With the coverage of 35-150mm focal length at such an open aperture of f2.0-2.8, Tamron has really introduced a new standard for E-mount with this lens. The focal length range really covers a lot, which is why this lens is amazingly well suited for a wide range of applications. But do not want to talk to much about the Tamron itself, there is already a video out there.
    BUT - Samyang has also launched a lens, which also covers 35-150mm starting from f2.0-2.8. Phew!
    That is something you first have to imitate. And then also in cheaper, where Tamron as a company is already known for not selling its name. That leads to one unanswered question above all: Which one is the better of the two?

    Please produce more reviews in english! This was a very good one and certainly the best one on this topic - and I did watch them all. No other review mentioned any of the things with flare or corner AF. Thank you.

    Well, I think this video is a another case of lens sample variation for both the Tamron and Samyang. It happens with even the best of lenses. I've seen seen a number of head to head Tamron vs Samyang written tests and videos that show different resolution results at the different focal lengths, they are basically tied. I do think your finding of the Tamron having a wider 35mm angle is not a sample variation issue, it's been verified elsewhere.
    On the Samyang autofocus performance, I wonder if you were testing the lens with the updated 2.0 firmware? BTW, the two lenses have different optical formulas in terms of number of elements and groups: Tamron 21 elements-15 groups; Samyang 21 elements-18 groups, so there is no copycat issue there.

    Not to add any thing to the disscusion witch is better...but from an artistic point of view I rather have the flaring Samyang...This is the same as with the Sigma 105mm f1,4 Art and it looks so much better that the 100% clean look...And I use flashes to correct the light in those situations.

    Lovely and amazing breakdown. For those who are able to get a used copy of the Tamron and have ability to return of the are issues, it's an amazing lens to add to your kit.

    First of all, thanks for the honest review, and the review in English. most of the 'reviewers' were sent their copies my samyang and as such, almost all of them painted the 'rosy picture' of this lens. But after watching this reveiw, I can safely make my decision. Plus, the Tamron lens is on sale here in Sweden with the difference between the two dropping down to almost 250 euros. so naturally, I would go with the Tamron.

    I am a wedding photographer and I have a Samyang 35-150mm f2-2.8. The only thing that really bothers me about it's the size and weight, but this problem also has the tamron 35-150mm, which is only 40-50g lighter. This lens worked perfectly for me at 3 weddings. If I were very rich, yes, I would buy the tamron, but for my budget, I'd rather buy a samyng and another lens for the difference in money or another camera

      @@yottooverland Can't complain about the price. Sony 70-200 costs 2500$. This replaces it and the 24-70 for the most part. I'd rather buy the Tamron over the Samyang. The 5y warranty alone is worth it.

    This should be enough to ignore the new lens - I have Tamron and it's already losing quite a bit in AF compared to 70-180mm, but I'm in the process of switching anyway due to the wider short end; losing even more in AF capabilities would really hurt. If only the zoom ring was not so stiff and rough... this was my main hope for Samyang, that it is easier to turn, but other reviewers were already negative about that.

    Hey there, wonderful video! Very quality :)
    I notice you had a selection based on a grey / brown dog running. I'm most interested in these, because I'd like to know how the Samyang's Autofocus tracking performs on subjects which move very quickly. Very important for sports / bird photography and videography. Let me know if you have any tests for the Samyang based on this, many thanks :)

    The colors on the Samyang are way more natural. Why Tamron allways has that disturbing warmth / yellow tint ? I had the 35-150 Tamron- Perfect picture quality but because of thecolors I went back to GM 24-70 ....

      Wait, how and when such a lens lens would make a positive impression? 24-70mm seem to be an old standard, and it's a considerably longer range.

    • @USGrant21st
      @USGrant21st Рік тому +1

      35mm was always very problematic. I used to have Sigma 24-135/2.8-4.5 long time ago, that was a great range. I wish somebody would make 24-135/2.8.

    • @marcinmrzyglocki
      @marcinmrzyglocki Рік тому

      @@USGrant21st we don't have even 24-105mm F2.8 yet, there are patents as I recall, but nothing physical. I guess getting to 5.5x constant aperture zoom could be also hard to achieve.

    • @USGrant21st
      @USGrant21st Рік тому +1

      @@marcinmrzyglocki 24-135/2.8-4.5 was not hard to achieve, 28-200/2.8-5.6 is also not hard to achieve. Zoom range is not what makes it difficult, it's having f/2.8 at the long end. The lens would have to be big, perhaps as big as the 35-150/2-2.8, but people are willing to accept that. Btw, the rumors were Tamron was bringing 35-150/2.8 to the market, a much smaller and lighter version.

    • @marcinmrzyglocki
      @marcinmrzyglocki Рік тому

      @@USGrant21st I did not see any rumors for constant 2.8 and depending on the ergonomics (well, basically the zoom ring) I would get such a lens - range is great, the difficulty of use not.

    Martin, now you have the opportunity to prove your linguistic balance. For starters, I'd be happy if you used just one German word in your English test report, when you already have ten English words in your German test report, only a tenth of the amount of English words you use in your German test report, of Leichtigkeit (lightness), Luftigkeit (Airiness) and Stimmung (mood) of the picture results of an optic you could speak and explain the German words in English, if you dare, but there I have so my justified doubts, not even in the carnival time, in which much is permitted, something like that would occur to you macho with the exemplary self-control. Only the other way round it is natural for you, why? If we Germans are constantly confronted with very many English terms by you, it could be interesting for some English speakers to become familiar with very few German terms. For example, that BMW does not stand for British Motor Wagon. Praise to whom praise is due: Your English review is free of marketing superlatives.
