Yeah, I think a dwarf with the 2 free boosts might have been the way to go here... those free heals make a big difference, and a Charisma flaw really hurts.
@@ericrobinson2611 yeah i noticed that as well, not having an okay charisma is a cleric in P2E is not a good idea as it allows you to be a bit more versatile.

As someone who has switched from 5e to PF2e since the OGL drama and complete loss of any respect for WotC, it's awesome to see you guys doing Pathfinder stuff! I'm a big fan, and it's awesome to see you covering other great systems. I hope you keep enjoying the stuff! I myself have been having a blast!
@@jar8240 I don't really worry about that, because the guys who are making it, also made d&d beyond before WotC took over. Having the option to buy at least digital versions on demiplane definitly helps. ...But I also prefer Pathbuilder for charakter building.
Only the Core rulebook options are available for free, which is fine, just be aware that all this is, is DnD Beyond for Pathfinder (and other games, coming soon). That could work well for some people but know that there are other character builders out there that give you more options at no additional cost.
I gotta say, I’m really impressed with the character creation process here. I love the way the ability scores all start at 10, and increase based on choices. It really seems to make your character super unique and customizable
@@thetowndrunk988 If it helps, all of the rules (yes, all of them, from every supplement as well) are free on Archives of Nethys. Paizo is aware of the site and actively supports it.
Also highly recommend pathbuilder app Really helps organize your builds on a level by level basis And what feats you can and cant take and shows some reason why Its super convenient I made several characters already
Thaumaturge is awesome! It's super with all the different things that you can do I personally got a level 2 thaumaturge with the Regalia investment. Its a lot of fun
Thaumaturge might be my favorite class ever in any ttrpg. So much flavor, lots of depth and complexity, but also it's very hard to not build a competent party member. You can build a battlefield tactician, a ranged support build, a skill monkey with versatility even a rogue can't beat, or a pseudo-spell caster who can use spells of any tradition. Thaumaturge is that jack of all trades the Bard was supposed to be since DnD 3rd edition.
@Derek Bowen I basically just remade Geralt. Talismans, potions, and oils to buff myself and debuff my enemies. I'm using the sorcerer multiclass dedication to get a couple support cantrips and the bane spell. Also using mirror implement so I can solo flank
something to note about ancestral boosts at 11:00 is that you gain three boosts but one flaw and one of them is free to choose anything. the two boosts is two boosts anywhere but no flaw.
My first "how this pf2 character building works?" character was a giant instinct goblin barbarian with high str and second highest was charisma. The only tactical character building mistake I saw was to let the cleric with a -1 on char. Because you calculate your daily free heal spells based on those. Other than that, both characters were perfectly cool and awesome!
Neither of their free background feats are going to be particularly useful, either. It's not a mistake, per se, but it is a missed opportunity. The cleric will feel that more keenly than the rogue, who gets a skill feat every level - the cleric would have probably been a lot happier with Field Medic, esp. given the low charisma issue for daily heals.
It’d be fun to watch you guys play PF 2E with Colby or just the normal crew. Very interested in this system. Just the starter kit adventure would be great. Pathbuilder is another great tool to build characters too. NotNat1’s covered this character builder. Fun to see awesome nerds helping us new players
Monty is playing Yoric with Ronald the Rules Lawyer and Colby is playing a monk (which talk about night and day difference in a character class between the two systems) and it’s a hoot. Monty keeps dropping capitalist and economic puns and quips. Although I was slightly disappointed he didn’t name his rapier “Supply” and his dagger “Demand”
@@KnicKnac I agree 100% he definitely is no Monty that’s for sure. The Rules Lawyer fries on you, now as to what is growing that is up to individual perception LOL
The unburdened iron specifically say to ignore any speed penalty from any armor you wear. The reduction in penalty is specifically for other penalties such as encumberance or tanglefoot.
Something that you might not know, Monty and Kelly, is the reason there are so many Heritages is because they are including Versatile Heritages, which are available for ALL Ancestries. But Ancestry-bound Heritages are never too many. Versatile Heritages is just a fun way to play with "Hybrid races", like have you ever wondered what a Werebunny Orc would look like? x9. My first character in PF2e was a Druid. I like how Druids can do a bit of a lot of things and still feel reliable. I played with both Wild Shape and an Animal Companion, but I went more for Wild Shape. I also loved that I could reliably deal damage with spells, heal and be a frontline martial while using druid.
One thing about ability scores, you briefly talk about starting with a less than 18 in your key ability. In math in PF2E being very different from 5e, starting with a 16 or something is actually a huge handicap.
I would say yes and no to this statement. I am currently playing a War Priest Cleric in Strength of Thousands and he has 14 in three stats and I think one 16. His main goal is to raise shield, bless, forbidding ward, and heal. At second level he will add battle medicine to that repertoire. After the free archetype wizard (again all utility and buff spells) he will go champion to gain divine ally shield and the redemption oath.
My family got the Beginner Box last Christmas (2022), so we started playing PF2 even before WotC's OGL debacle. I DM and my kids created a halfling bard and a cavern elf sorcerer as their first characters instead of playing the pregens included in the box. The sorcerer is loaded up with lighting based cantrips and spells, so that provided a theme/flavor from level 1 for that character. The bard is leaning towards the rogue archetype and feats as a matter of survival now that we are moving on to play Troubles in Otari.
I loved watching you two building rpg staples like elf rogue and dwarf cleric and still make them your own. I would love to see a follow up sometime where you dig into the classes and ancestries that are pf exclusive -- I feel like I need to see your raw reactions when you read up on the Shoony, Leshy, Conrasu ancestries and more. Or classes like Investigator, Gunslinger, and Magus. Also can't wait to see you learn about archetypes and the vast amount of character building options it opens up.
Cool video, but just a thing about the Cleric, it's a bit MAD, and it's generally not recommended to dump CHA, because an important ability is based off of CHA, it's still playable if you dumpit but it's better if it's positive, I've even seen people argue that it's better to have CHA as your highest stat over WIS, not saying you did it wrong or anything, just saying so you keep it in mind.
And add to that the Divine spell list has several buff spells that don’t require a casting stat to be effective such as Bless, Magic Weapon, Forbidding Ward, Stabilize and at higher levels divine battle forms Heroism etc
@Donald Douds good argument for the War Cleric in particular to focus on CHA over WIS then, since you are going to be attacking you can save your spells for buffs, buffing you and your friends attacks and so on. Cloistered Cleric might want to have good WIS, though, since they do get good spell proficiency stuff and probably won't be making attacks.
Pathbuilder is an amazing online tool to use for character creation and It’s free for basic use! The only time you need to pay is if you want access to some optional rules, but other then that you don’t need to pay for anything!
Love the layout of Demiplane. I’ve been using PathBuilder and highly recommend it - definitely a more finished product - but Demiplane is probably more aesthetically appealing to most people. Excited for more Pathfinder content from y’all!
It said it was connected to Nexus, which is supposed to be the new DnD Beyond for Pathfinder. Is this the start of increased monetization goals for Paizo? Pathbuilder is mostly free and it is just a one time payment to unlock everything. If such an incomplete project is already sponsoring videos, how hard are they going to push it as the official one stop shop for everything you need to create and run your PF2e games, once their finished?
@@XanderHarris1023 not really, paizo doesn't really do any disgusting monetization tactics. I believe this is going to be a one stop shop for people coming over to the new system who are more familiar with dndbeyond. Like, paizo likes to promote all the VTT and tools that comes up using Pathfinder, like nexus, alchemy, and pathbuilder.
@@MrBakersdozen2020 They didn't use to but since they took over Foundry and the emergence of things like this, I am definitely seeing attempts to garner a larger profit. I'm not saying that is a bad thing and if they think they can make money off of it, go for it, but this is definitely exploiting the 5e player base that is unaware of their options.
My first two characters (I made them at the same time) for pathfinder 2e was a Gnome Alchemist & a human monk. I've always been dissapointed by 5e's version of the Alchemist, so it was a pleasure to really dive into the crafting system of 2e with a class dedicated to it. I will admit that it turned out to not be my style in the end, but it felt intuitive enough to feel like it did the character justice compared to the Alchemist Artificer from 5e. The monk was a completely different story. I only really use 2 classes in pathfinder now, and both of those are the monk (strength based & dex based), I've always been a big fan of MMA & Pro Wrestling and the 2e system does a much better job representing the fisticuffs/grappler playstyle I always wanted for the monk.
I love the aesthetic differences between Kelly “so many stickers you can’t tell the laptop’s original colour” and Monty “so clean and pristine it looks new”
oh wow, i would love to see more pathfinder form you guys! Pathfinder 2e really needs more youtubers that have some sort of focus on flavor and roleplay options. The way you guys described some 5e characters and classes really sold me on them when i still played 5e
Not sure if someone posted but Gimli's quote is “I'm wasted on cross-country. We dwarves are natural sprinters! Very dangerous over short distances!” Good stuff.
I'm just hoping some established content creators stick with Pathfinder videos. I've seen so many that quit after a few videos because DnD is just more popular. But the irony is that DnD is more popular because they have so much content out there for it...... .... but people often make content for it because it's the most popular system. It's a cycle. I think there's an untapped market in established dnd content creators doing deep dives into playing the game and making comparisons. "2e Champion vs 5e Paladin", "2e Inventor compared to Artificer", the many "Differences in how Fighters play"
I really appreciate the enthusiasm that you guys have when building your characters. Its a fun process! I'm hoping you'll do more PF2 videos in the future. Thanks for the vid!
I think a great use for one of the rogue's many skill proficiencies is Medicine. Yeah his wisdom isn't going to be great, but having a backup healer is useful and the opportunity cost for a rogue is so low. Sometimes the cleric is the one who needs to be Stabilized. Sometimes you are on the clock and having two guys that can Treat Wounds gets you moving in half the time.
The first real PF2 campaign I’m in I’m currently a Swashbuckler and it’s a blast. They get a surprising amount of skills so I’m able to be our face and do a sneak/thievery from time to time. Very good damage output and the different ways to gain panache (the mechanic behind a Swashbucklers damage, kind of like sneak attack but also buffs moment speed) I can move around the map, do good damage and demoralize my enemies to set up my fellow PCs and set myself up for more of that good damage. Also with +10 health every level up so they make decent front line with good light armor and a decent CON modifier.
Thank you for walking through this. I've been considering starting a pathfinder game as a DM, but I've never even built a character. This was a very helpful step by step process.
Its important to remember that the number of devine font spell slots you get is 1 + your CHR mod. With a -1 mod, you have zero devine font spell slots for the Heal spell. A good way to fix this is to either swap the +1 you put into Dex into Chr instead, and if you want more than 1 devine font spell slot to start the game, use the two free ancestry stat boost option and take STR and WIS and start the game with a lower Con (the 1 hp per level you will miss out on wont matter much early and you can take Toughness gen feat at lvl 3 to make up for it).
That's one thing why I love Pathfinder over Dnd5e... really feeling like you are building a unique character. So nice to custom build a lot easier vs 5e
Pathfinder 2e is excellent. Welcome aboard! I'm branching into Starfinder these days. Love the science fantasy setting. Wish more UA-camrs would make Starfinder content.
I don’t know if monty noticed but as a scoundrel rogue, your key ability score is actually charisma instead of dexterity. Each racket has a different key ability score. Thief is dex. Mastermind is int. Ruffian is Str.
I've recentely discovered this channel and hopping from video to video. My new hobby is guessing: "What will Kelly's hair look like today" and "Who has the best shirt?"
Hooray! I'm so glad the Dudes are including Pathfinder content! Hope you'll eventually create your own campaign setting. Yeah, different from Drakkenheim. I love that one, but it's very 5e-ish. I hope to see something new.
Nonat1s" also tried this character builder. You may want to check out his experience too. Really want to get into PF2E, and I hear they're doing a rework due out around November.
the free ability boost for the dwarf was because you picked the default one. Every ancestry (Except humans) has one free boost in there default boosts, that why you got a flaw there, because you got 3 boosts. For example if the elf would have chosen the default option he would have gotten a boost in DEX, a boost in INT, a flaw in CON and a free boost.
Monty's PC gameplay style by his own description is basically "Tell me your favorite thing is all the DM tricks without telling me your favorite thing is all the DM tricks" 😂
So, Monty's character is nearly spot on to what i made for a rougue, though i went thief racket. Gotta love adding dex to damage... However, I would've went way different with a cleric. I made a lizardfolk warpriest, with the claws ancestry feat, and developed a lizard folk protector god of the clutch, whose holy weapon are natural claws, giving her 1d8 claw attacks. At 2nd level, took the druid dedication. (We play with free archetype feat, highly recommend...). For stats. Went wisdom (obviously), charisma second (with the +1 thats 4 free heals in the font), then Strength. Also went with field medic background, for free battle medicine at 1st level. But, that's just me. As always, play what is fun for you, right? Love your channel, guys! Keep up the great work!
I’m really interested in switching to P2e for my groups and students. Please run a one off, short campaign or any Drakenhiem vignette you feel appropriate. Love to see Monty run group with his three main partners in crime. Maybe an expansion of one of the adventures created during the pandemic. A one off with the queen of thieves would be very cool. Have the crew be part of her entourage. New characters Love to all 🐺
My first character took me 10 seconds to come up with. Investigator + Ratfolk = The great mouse detective!. Mix in in blessed one, lore oracle archetype and medic and I was the party skill monkey, archer, healer and I could use divine spells to augment my investigations. My rat familiar got masters form and e would play disguise nonsense. I miss Rono and Roko...
I like going traditional for the first time experiencing a new system. I always order the same entree when trying a new Chinese restaurant. It establishes a baseline. :)
I'm a little late but I'm loving seeing you branch out into more games. And I'm enjoying Pathfinder so far! My first character is a frilled lizardfolk champion of the God of Gym Bros. Big Himbo Energy.
My first PF2 character is a Gnome Bard. He is a great force multiplier for the Half-Orc Fighter and Human Monk that form the front line. They crit more often with the +1 to hit I give them. Currently level 6.
Ehi! Love the video, just wanna make a note for the fellow watchers: if you really want to use demiplane go for it, but do not let the pricetag scare you: pathfinder 2e is functionally free, every monster, rule, character option and other stuff that comes out goes immediately in the srd and it’s free to use without charge, archives of nethys is great for accessing all the material, and most of the character builders available let you use them for free, so you don’t need to spend any money if you want to try the game out
Just Remember Kelly Prepared Casters and Spontanious Caster function VASTLY diffrent then they do in 5e Prepared Casters while you can swap spells like normal a prepared caster, however if you put Bless once like ya did and magic weapon like you did that means you can only cast EACH OF THOSE SPELLS ONCE PER LONG REST, You cant cast Bless twice because you only prepared 1 Bless spell you have to use both your spell slots to list Bless in both of them in order to cast it more than once, same goes for Magic Weapon. So RN you can only use both Bless and Magic weapon only once per day. Spontanious Casters work just like they do in 5e you have a # of spell slots and you can cast any spells you have memorized. their is a Divine Spontanious Caster in the form of the Orcale, but that class is VERY complicated for a New player to pathfinder 2e. Also Occultism deals with any spells involving mindcontrol or manipilation of thought and are primarily used by Bards.
Just as a heads up -- the pathfinder videogames are excellent and definitely worth playing, although it is worth noting that they are based on the pathfinder 1e system, so it won't work like the character building in this video (which is for 2e) Have a blast though, both games are amazing and you're going to have a great time.
Really hoping to see a Swashbuckler in the group if they roll out a PF 2E game post Drakkenhiem. I've fallen in live with this class, and am hoping to be able to find a PF 2E game soon to try one out.
I'm digging these Pathfinder videos. It's a system I've been wanting to try for a while, being almost solely 5e for years. Question though: how hard would it be to shift a Drakkenheim campaign into a P2e game? I want to run Drakkenheim with my friends soon and would love to also be able to do Pathfinder with it if that's possible.
It’s not their, it’s from another company, they just have paizo’s permission, that’s why of the absurd pricetag. I think paizo takes a 15 dollars share from every book sold there, if you want a free alternative go with wanderer’s guide if you like the shiny feel or pathbuilder if you want something more compact, powerful, customisable and for only 5 dollars one time (you don’t even need to pay that lol, it just adds some stuff and cloud support)
I’d be curious how you like building characters as you level up. I find that if I don’t build my character with level 20 planned out then I’ll often be asking my GM to let me change past options so I can qualify for new options at each level. Having to plan ahead to be able to take the feats that you want can be very time consuming.
There are rules for retraining to change past options that make sense actually, just takes some downtime and money I think. I personally don't plan that far ahead, but I sometimes look at options ahead to have a rough idea of how I might get critical specialization or things like that. From what I hear, most character builds will at least be ok if not better as long as you have at least one good stat for your class. That being said I haven't experienced higher levels yet, so we'll see
It's worth noting that although there are a LOT of options, they are all balanced against each other so there is much less pressure to choose the "correct" ones than 5e. Systems mastery in PF2 comes from choices in play, not choices on the character sheet
I always use the two boosts variant because not all ability flaws are equal. Elves (and, I believe, kobolds) are royally screwed over in PF 2E if using the ability flaw option because their ability flaw is CON. If you're playing, say, a goblin, you can take the hit on WIS and just avoid WIS-dependent classes and except for some skills and the odd Will save, you'll be fine. This means you get to put your free boost wherever you like. If you're playing an elf, you do not have the luxury of doing that because CON is vital for everyone unless you have a death wish. An elf will almost certainly end up putting the 'free' boost on CON so it at least doesn't get a negative modifier, so effectively, playing an elf means paying a boost tax.
See it's times like these I feel behind on TTRPGs. Because I got into D&D a couple years ago and have failed to find in person groups. I'm hesitant to try online just because of how sketchy people can be online. And now there's other TTRPGs I want to try. I feel like I'm catching up on all of 5E still and there's so many of those that I want (I like my physical copies). Now D&D is doing a 5.5 w/e it's called, I want to try Pathfinder, and Starfinder, and Alien, and Call of Cthulu. Heck I got the Power Rangers TTRPG and there's a lot cool in that I want to try out. It just feels overwhelming.
@@merlannin2108 It's just called the Power Rangers Roleplaying Game and it's by Renegade Game Studios. It's actually really cool it uses the Mighty Morphin Rangers as a baseline but you can easily adapt them to be any team or a homebrew one. A lot of the skill and combat mechanics are pretty malleable and you can even write in your own skills or get more specific (like for technology you could write in Computers, Coding, Engineering etc) and the dice you roll for it can "shift" up or down so a monster can shift you down to a D6 instead of a D8 or reverse from your allies. Which is the other cool part because a lot of your color abilities rely on your team so like when you roll initiative the Red Ranger has a skill that allows other rangers to take a penalty if they want and buff your initiative roll instead. It's kinda like have a party of Bards and everyone is giving each other inspiration. Very much teamwork oriented.
Finding people to play with (and who'll actually play consistently) is the hardest part haha. It's a time-consuming hobby, lots of stuff to learn, and GM'ing can be difficult and even more time-consuming without experience. Hope you can find you a group!
I know this was just making 1st level character but I actually think it would have been kind of cool if there was a little bit more at the end of them leveling up to 2nd level just to show off that process. So my first character. We actually use the Dual-Class variant rules which are like "Super Multiclassing" rules so I made a Goblin Alchemist-Wizard who is all about blowing stuff up and being focused on area/splash damage. I'm not 19th level with him and it has been a ton of fun! Although I admit that Alchemist is one of the most complicated classes and pairing it with Wizard, not a simple class either, has made him super complicated! But I like that in my games honestly.
Love the content (though more lukewarm on pf2 😛)! My first pf2 character was an Elven Rogue Thief/Cleric Archetype armed with an Elven Curve Blade, based on reasoning similar to Monty's. We were a small party, 3 people, and I combined damage dealing with skill utility and skill-based healing. I intended to build something like a tomb raider character and figured the Cleric Archetype would give me additional utility through access to Cleric spells, which sadly didn't work so well. It's my favorite pf2 character still as I feel martial classes are the big winners in the 3-action economy and Skill Feats, of which Rogues get twice as many as every other class, represent the most meaningful way of making a more diverse character in pf2. Expounding on the Cleric Archetype side of things I found the spellcasting utility really limited due to; * Having a lower casting stat than a main caster * Having lower casting proficiency than a main caster * Having lower level spell slots * The Counteract check rules * The limited utility of pf2 spells compared to their 5e counterparts. (Example; Freedom of Movement is very limited in how and what it can actually free you from.) Funnily enough my next character was a Cloistered Cleric/Champion Archetype character and from that experience I'd argue that CHA is actually the most important ability for a Cleric, as I would have traded my DC and spell attack rolls for an additional max-level Heal any day of the week. If I end up playing pf2 again I'd play another martial class, Rogue Thief being highest on the list. I'd love to see you play some pf2!
Just found this. Very interesting. I haven't been using Demiplane (Herolab instead) but now I'll take another look. Two things for Kelly: Harnessed Shield? You're not jousting, are you? I'd have gone with Steel Shield and saved 3 gold. Also, everybody should have an adventurer's pack. 🙂
So exciting to see you guys dive into Pathfinder. This is the second time I've seen someone build in Nexus and I don't know why anyone would pay money when Pathbuilder is right there for free.
Well - there are some valid reasons, but only if you intend to do more with it than just build your character. Nexus will also manage your character over their adventuring day, such as keeping track of your spell use and inventory, and handle how modifiers work as you are affected by conditions. Few people will use Nexus to JUST build their character.
@@mduckernz Pathbuilder does both inventory and spell book (including being able to cross off spells cast) although you are correct that it doesn't allow you to modify rolls based on conditions. Just MAP. But still it's $5 versus $1300 for a very minimal functionality increase.
I had never heard of “proficiency without level”. That’s awesome. I think bounded accuracy is so much better than the treadmill/arms race approach. Now I just have to convince my group… 😂
Yes! I stopped watching you guys because I like pathfinder a lot more, so I’m happy to see you all at least doing some pathfinder content. But Kelly, you get heals/harms based on charisma mod. You won’t get full benefit without having some charisma. With dwarven cleric I’d definitely do 2 boost or optional flaw (if you’re not melee-ing you can dump strength and intelligence isn’t that important for clerics).
5 feet of the armor penalty is removed if you meet the Str threshold for the armor you're wearing. So Kelly's dwarf could still have a 20 speed.
I am noticing Kelly talking about free heal spells when the number of free heals is 1 + Charisma… and his charisma is -1
Yeah, I think a dwarf with the 2 free boosts might have been the way to go here... those free heals make a big difference, and a Charisma flaw really hurts.
@@ericrobinson2611 yeah i noticed that as well, not having an okay charisma is a cleric in P2E is not a good idea as it allows you to be a bit more versatile.
yeah, clerics usually want to have at least a little charisma.
It makes balancing ability boosts a really tough thing for Clerics, especially for Warpriests. A -1 on Charisma basically nerfs your cleric.
Same as first edition: cleric are starved for stats and they can't really dump much aside from int.

@@donalddouds6033 Rules Lawyer is too dry to watch. Not my cup of tea.
16 is fine for MAD versatile character. You will be behind dedicated characters but you're still functional
Glad to see you guys are enjoying PF2e! I'm looking forward to getting back to PF after so many years away.
As someone who's venturing into 2e in a few weeks, I'm so hyped for this video!
25:14 Monty's greedy happy smile when he will get his rogues weapon boosted by Kelly's ability
Yeah, mainly because you get extra castings of Heal (or Harm)
And add to that the Divine spell list has several buff spells that don’t require a casting stat to be effective such as Bless, Magic Weapon, Forbidding Ward, Stabilize and at higher levels divine battle forms Heroism etc
@Donald Douds good argument for the War Cleric in particular to focus on CHA over WIS then, since you are going to be attacking you can save your spells for buffs, buffing you and your friends attacks and so on.
Cloistered Cleric might want to have good WIS, though, since they do get good spell proficiency stuff and probably won't be making attacks.
@@dashboots376 that’s the direction o chose with my War Priest but he is more an anchor in the middle buffing healing and blocking attacks.
Pathbuilder is an amazing online tool to use for character creation and It’s free for basic use!
The only time you need to pay is if you want access to some optional rules, but other then that you don’t need to pay for anything!
I just hope they love it enough to make a drakkenheim adaption for 2E. They have some cool content.
I’m starting that conversion slowly as I am also running it for my in person group in 5e
@@XanderHarris1023 fortunately it’s not a paizo product, it’s definitely a money grabbing platform, but at least it’s not theirs
I couldn't help it, I had to make one along with them
Same
Same, I made a half-elf human summoner
Much appreciate in walking through the pathfinder stuff. I do look forward to more.
I agree on monk! The stance system is genius, and monks are by and far my favourite martial to play in this system because of it.
Agreed. It's a shame, honestly. Would love those videos, especially as someone who is moving away from 5e to focus fully on PF2
I just GM’d my first game ever, and it was the beginner box. The party is meeting again next Saturday it was so much fun 👍
Wilhelm would approve most definitely.
Glad to see them having fun. Character building is one of the strengths of Pathfinder. Two characters of the same class can end up wildly different.
Thank you for walking through this. I've been considering starting a pathfinder game as a DM, but I've never even built a character. This was a very helpful step by step process.
Path builder 2e for Android and the web, and Wanderer's Guide (also web) are also excellent options for character building!
LET'S FUCKING GOOOO!
It's great to see you guys branching out from D&D. I really would love to see you do a Cypher System video one day as well! :-)
the free ability boost for the dwarf was because you picked the default one.
Been waiting for this one 👀 Excited to see what you dudes come up with!
Really glad to see y’all venture into Pathfinder!
Notably you can intimidate another creature that doesn't understand you, but your intimidation check takes a -4 penalty.
Unless you have Intimidating Glare as a skill feat which removes the “linguistic” tag from the demoralize action
I think when you're doing a video on Pathfinder you should introduce yourselves as the Pathfinder pals
Loving the alternative RPG coverage! Would love an Aliens 3-shot
New characters
Love to all

I just started playing PF2e last night, I'm glad these two have started their game too, I've been watching their 5e content for years
My first character took me 10 seconds to come up with.
Really REALLY liked this video!! Thanks to you I will check out Demiplane. Hope you keep making PF2 content.
I'm a little late but I'm loving seeing you branch out into more games. And I'm enjoying Pathfinder so far! My first character is a frilled lizardfolk champion of the God of Gym Bros. Big Himbo Energy.
The first character I made for PF2e was an Undine Catfolk Rogue Thief, a catfish if you will :3
I need both of your shirts ASAP PLEASE!!!
You should really repeat this process with Wanderers Guide (with different characters maybe)
My first PF2 character is a Gnome Bard. He is a great force multiplier for the Half-Orc Fighter and Human Monk that form the front line. They crit more often with the +1 to hit I give them. Currently level 6.
I do suggest Pathbuilder instead of Pathfinder Nexus. It saves me a lot of time when comes to net building
More filters would be useful for all categories.
Glad you're doing more pf2 content
Good to see you on a new Path double D’s. I’ve have such a fun time creating new characters. Mostly based on cool models that I find
I've heard people talk about Demiplane before but I have never actually used it but my goodness it looks clean as hell.
Ehi! Love the video, just wanna make a note for the fellow watchers: if you really want to use demiplane go for it, but do not let the pricetag scare you: pathfinder 2e is functionally free, every monster, rule, character option and other stuff that comes out goes immediately in the srd and it’s free to use without charge, archives of nethys is great for accessing all the material, and most of the character builders available let you use them for free, so you don’t need to spend any money if you want to try the game out
Excited to see more P2e content from the Dudes!
Just Remember Kelly Prepared Casters and Spontanious Caster function VASTLY diffrent then they do in 5e
Prepared Casters while you can swap spells like normal a prepared caster, however if you put Bless once like ya did and magic weapon like you did that means you can only cast EACH OF THOSE SPELLS ONCE PER LONG REST, You cant cast Bless twice because you only prepared 1 Bless spell you have to use both your spell slots to list Bless in both of them in order to cast it more than once, same goes for Magic Weapon.
Nice video. Looking forward to more Pathfinder 2e material.
Ive recently bought one of the pathfinder video games, looking forward to create a character there and start a new adventure.
Just as a heads up -- the pathfinder videogames are excellent and definitely worth playing, although it is worth noting that they are based on the pathfinder 1e system, so it won't work like the character building in this video (which is for 2e)
Have a blast though, both games are amazing and you're going to have a great time.
Wasn't aware of that, thank you!
Really hoping to see a Swashbuckler in the group if they roll out a PF 2E game post Drakkenhiem. I've fallen in live with this class, and am hoping to be able to find a PF 2E game soon to try one out.
Congrats on these awesome newb characters!! you're making me want to play All the things All the time!! love your stuff!
They're finally making their own version of Beyond! That will really help. Certainly encourages me... now... all those books to buy. Oh boy.
I would love to see you guys do a Pathfinder campaign. It's actually a great game.
Came for an intro to a new platform. Stayed for the cool shirts
More PF2 ! We want to see you play !
I’d be curious how you like building characters as you level up. I find that if I don’t build my character with level 20 planned out then I’ll often be asking my GM to let me change past options so I can qualify for new options at each level. Having to plan ahead to be able to take the feats that you want can be very time consuming.
I usually ask my dm what is the expected level for the end of the campaign and build it until that level.
Fr Kelly going to love the PF2 Remaster for the Warpriest doctrine. Hitting people and healing ✨️ in fluid movements
Power rangers ttrpg? Which one is that?
@@Geffro Yep the hardest boss to beat in TTRPGs is scheduling conflicts. XD
Great video yay for pathfinder
Kelly, that shirt is the revenge of the 80s by way of cubism and I love it.
I love how Kelly's laptop is covered in stickers and Monty's is pristine out of the box looking 😂
Kelly if you're looking for some place to put more stickers, there is a whole other side to the top that has LOTS of room for LOTS more stickers!
Where did you guys get your shirts? They are AWESOME!
Been playing kingmaker on pc and love a scaled fist/sorcerer build.
Expounding on the Cleric Archetype side of things I found the spellcasting utility really limited due to;
* Having a lower casting stat than a main caster
* Having lower casting proficiency than a main caster
* Having lower level spell slots
* The Counteract check rules
* The limited utility of pf2 spells compared to their 5e counterparts. (Example; Freedom of Movement is very limited in how and what it can actually free you from.)
Funnily enough my next character was a Cloistered Cleric/Champion Archetype character and from that experience I'd argue that CHA is actually the most important ability for a Cleric, as I would have traded my DC and spell attack rolls for an additional max-level Heal any day of the week.
Do you feel you have found a new path?
