Bro!This cylinder just enough to fit in beam with same width from two sides, and weld two beams into frame beams

Nice job! That thing is a beast. I dont have acres and a huge shop so mine will be a 25/30 ton benchtop. Im pretty sure you could have built a 100 tom with that frame. Im not a big fan of slider plates and grease so Im going to use roller bearings similar to an overhead crane design for the upper die section.
    Forge On!!!

Ya I definitely could have increased the tonnage with this frame but honestly I just designed it around the I-Beams since I got those for free. I may upgrade the ram, motor, pump etc at a later time but this does the job for now. I did end up switching to rollers, they work much better!

Any chance you'd make the plans you have available? I'm researching currently with plans to build one in the next year.

The only well documented portion of this that I have is the hydraulic schematic which you can screen shot from the video. Other than that I made a 3D model to reference but it’s completely representative of the physical build.

    That's wide flange, not" I" beam .
    Nice work

I wish I could get my kids to help me in the shop. My youngest is 10 and doesn’t want anything to do with it. My middle child is 16 he never wanted to help. My oldest is 22 he says sandpaper makes him feel weird. I don’t know what to say about that.

I’ve had my kids out doing stuff with me since they were just barely old enough to hold their heads up so maybe that is part of it. However, I’d say I definitely got lucky in that they just naturally like these kind of activities.

If a friend asked you to build the frame and base, where all he had left to do was add the cylinder, valve, pump and motor, how much would you charge your friend? Having a friend build me one (because my welds suck),and his "bid" was super extra low, ($25-$50), but I want to compensate him correctly for all his work.

Based on his price, I’m assuming you are buying the material and that is strictly labor? I charge $70 per hour for fabrication/welding (materials excluded). For friends, I’ll do it for a less, $60/hour if they throw in a case of beer.

@@Quantum_Ironworks he's got 8", 10", and 12" I-beam cutoffs from his work site he's going to use. So, probably just labor then.
