    Great advice. However, deep pockets really help get you great sound.

      It helps indeed. You wouldn’t wanna go through these steps if you’re looking to buy a $500 DAC, not worth it.

    I bought the dac linn select , I bought the interconnects, but I made the amplifier, cables and loudspeakers myself.

    I wish the dealers offered in-home speaker demos. Most of them don't.

    • @robsaudiophilejourney
      @robsaudiophilejourney  2 роки тому

      Yeah that’s unfortunate. If you offer to pay a bit for the hassle, and pay a security deposit, you may get lucky. Depends on your relationship with them too.

    Nothing beats experience and you don't need to go broke getting great sound. Good advice can save you money. Hours at a dealer mixing and matching while listening with your own music will save you money too. A home demo if you're lucky can save you money too.
    One thing you left out is learning to understand how things work and why X might work better than Y or worse.
    In 25 years of personally having multiple systems ( Genesis, Magnepan, B&W ) and growing up around my dads systems ( Quad, Ohm, Thiel ), I've only made one huge mistake, buying a pair B&Ws 600 series. I hated them, I donated them to Goodwill less than a year after I got them. If I would have really taken my time with them I probably would have never bought them.

      @@robsaudiophilejourney how did you create the absorper that you put in front of your TV? Specially the stands.

      @robsaudiophilejourney  2 роки тому +1

      I used 6 of these: www.artnovion.com/product-categories/4-diffusion/products/10-myron-e-diffuser
      I screwed 3 of them on a larger panel, then I stack 2 of these to create a 3 x 2 matrix. The stand you see in the video are just boxes. I'll make a proper wooden stand sometime in the future.

      @@robsaudiophilejourney the larger Panel behind is just a thin wooden Panel? Its a great idea i will do the same for my 83" To bad it is 185cm wide, so the panels are 180.. and 4 in one row is 240 :(. How was the before and after you put it in front of the TV. Bigger soundstage bigger sweet spot?

    Thank you Rob for this, but next time can you move out of the way, I’d rather look at your set up !! LOL LOL. But non-mendaciously speaking regarding reviews; when I am considering a product I will read as many reviews as possible and gage by the tonality of the reviewer with statements such as “worth looking at”, this one should be considered - put this one on your top five etc. etc. as opposed to someone who is really really enthusiastic about a certain product; I think if you read enough of them you’ll get the gist of what they are trying to tell you.
    Listening at the dealership, (when there are 10 other sets of speakers/subwoofers in the same room), will never ever give you an honest listening

    • @robsaudiophilejourney
      @robsaudiophilejourney  2 роки тому

      Haha, rest assured, I’ll make future videos focusing on the room and the gear. My bald head won’t be bothering you then 😄
      I agree on the reviews. Lots of different reviews and if they’re unanimously very positive, it’s a good sign.

      When it comes to cabling, I think it’s best to stick to one manufacturer for everything including power cords. It’s been almost 2 years now that I’ve been using all Audience cables and haven’t had the “ itch” for a change. This is having tried many such as Kimber, audio quest, cardas, even the local Chinese guy! Of course this is all relative; your system far far far exceeds mine.

      @@robsaudiophilejourney don't you watch jays Chanel? Another thing, I don't understand your logic, your #4 is reviews but jay is a reviewer, he does not buy all that stuff, manufacturers or dealers give him stuff to review but you trust him because he heard a lot. In my opinion he's too cocky to be trustworthy.

    • @robsaudiophilejourney
      @robsaudiophilejourney  Рік тому

      I watched his channel. Not a single Chinese brand. All from USA or Europe. The only brand from Asia is Aurender.
      Most of his stuff he buys himself. Otherwise he’ll say it’s on loan. I know because all the stuff he has will be up for sale once he’s done.
      Do you think dealers will loan you Boulder 3010 and 3060 to use for half a year? He may try to get 3050 mono blocks
