Video done as professionally as Tanner's installation! Well thought out, lighting and sound perfect, tools and materials properly prepositioned for quick efficient assembly, clear and concise explanation of procedures. Tanner's delivery is exceptional - no "um"s or "uhh"s. One of the very best videos on UA-cam.

I love the hatch cover too. I agree with the one person who wanted to know the cost of going to this much detail. Also, I have had the opportunity to install a few similar hatch cover but often you are not lucky enough to have a flat surface all around the hatch. Often there are obstructions especially in homes built with trusses.

you guys should look into attic Vaults or T-Domes.. They come with a weather stripping already installed.. and it comes with velcroe Straps... We nails in 2 hooks on the inner framing and just strap it

Do they make a model for a difficult install like my 4/12 pitch with open 2x4 trusses 16"oc? My head room at yhe peak is less than 4 1/2'. An open clear attic with a floor is really not much of a challenge.

Great video. But wouldn't it have been a nice touch to lay a drop cloth down first? I wouldn't be using caulks near carpeting without one.

Level the super deck? Seriously? This is nice for a stairway hatch but way too complicated. What would this cost? My guess ~$1000?

Stupid question, but why is it so tall? What if it was one piece flush with the attic flooring?

mae2759 when you fold up the stairs, the stairs fits right into the box.

Folded stairs ( in a pull down system) will protrude 10"-12" above the attic deck surface when the pull down stairs are in closed position.

I hate when you find a cool videos on youtube, But they never talk about cost, or where to get them. Usually, when I find out on google, It's way too much money, I wind up building it myself.

Always build tour own. 1” sheet of foil back 4x8 insulation HD or Lowe’s $23. 1 roll of foil tape. $. Miscellaneous around the garage or kitchen hand tools.

Looks like a DIY if you cant swing the 1800. You can build one that is better than what you have now, assuming you have nothing. Maybe 200.00.

Scott: Some insulation contractors are like HVAC and plumbers who are really thieves. Honest ones charge a fair price and make a fair profit. I'm looking into foaming my attic & crawlspace myself with the right bulk supplies and tools; there's not enough publicity about that alternative.
