The John Kruk and Hoshnasi videos don't go into detail on Windows settings for audio. It seemed like you were hearing audio thru your radio's speaker. How did you set the Windows audio settings to achieve this? P.S. I am far more familiar with Mac, but the WIRES-X software only runs on Windows.
Shawn McNelis ...Howdy! I don’t recall setting any windows sound settings. The audio automatically routed through the radio. Make sure the audio and playback devices are set to the same Com/USB device. 73

To get in using analog modulation, additional cables are required. I don't have those, but they should be similar to what Josh shows on his "Ham Radio Crash Course" channel in a video where he demonstrated connecting an FT2D handheld using the additional cables.

No, using the certain Yaesu radios configured for PDN mode (portable digital node), no HRI-200 is required. However, you will have to always use DN mode (not analog FM in). The rigs that have this feature, to my knowledge, are the FTM-100, FTM-300, FTM-400, FT-2D, FT-3D, FT-5D.

All radios accessing the Wires-X system are assigned both a node number and room number, unique to your radio’s digital ID, regardless whether you have an HRI-200 or not. If you have 3 radios you want to use on the Wires-X system, you will need to apply for a separate node number for each (and you will have to use a different username each time you apply - write all those down). Some Yaesu radios are Bluetooth capable or can have the Bluetooth module added. This allows you to use a Bluetooth headset or similar with the radio for PTT during voice calls. If you are referring to the radio making it somehow allowing cellular calling by somehow tying in with a cell phone, I am not aware that this function exists.

Thomas Henderson ...yessir, that will work! Keep in mind though that you’ll need a separate radio (HT or your mobile radio) to hear what’s going on. The rig tied to the Wires-X software will be tied up transmitting RF when anyone is having a QSO.
No, you can toggle to HRI type mode (at least on an FTM-400) by pressing the band B volume button...however, you will then need another Fusion-capable radio, such as an HT, to hear what is being transmitted and to transmit back into the system.

How does this all work then when I am using just the FTM400XDR ?
How do I get the software ? Have the SCU20 driver set and working.
I don't see where the Firmware is updated - MUST be missing something
SO have no results for PDN and WIRESX usage. LOST !!
Good evening! I"m not using an HRI-200 either. The software is a free download from Yaesu's website... although it is under the HRI-200 page, your FTM-400 can run in PDN mode with the software. Here is the link: yaesu.com/downloadFile.cfm?FileID=15178&FileCatID=42&FileName=wx1530en.zip&FileContentType=application%2Fx%2Dzip%2Dcompressed
You will still need to register your FTM-400 on the Wires-X site with Yaesu so they can assign you a node number specific to your radio's digital ID. Here is the link where you can do that: www.yaesu.com/jp/en/wires-x/regist/index.php ... also Yaesu just uploaded some new videos that go into detail on all this on UA-cam... I think it is a 3-part series of videos.
I'm trying to install the software on my PC and I get an error about a parameter length. Anybody know what to do about that?
when in portable digital node connected to my pc do you still have to connect an antenna to the radio as well or do you only use your home internet all very new to me thanks rob m1ayt
PDN mode does not transmit any RF when going straight to computer...73
thank you for the video l am about to get one. regards
allan uk
Another ham friend of mine is running this radio in PDN mode not putting out any RF I guess direct, and he says his fan starts running when he is receiving signals but not when he transmits. Have you heard of this?......thanks de,....W2lIR.......
drumhd1 ...hmm, I don’t recall that on mine. If the dan did run, it wasn’t noticeable. 73
Ghost Rider Ok thanks....
Did that cable SCU-20 come with the radio?
tomcatGB ...yes, it was included.
@@GhostRider1974 thank you....
recommend car antenna for Yaesu FTM-100D! Thanks!
I’d go with a Tram 11861
@@GhostRider1974 thanks )
Wires-x won't go past the ID Entry box. I enter room and node #, nothing happens. I give up.
Make sure the software recognizes your radio’s Digital ID in the upper left. Enter the node and room ID, then click the ID Entry box at the bottom.
@@GhostRider1974 Yup, its there. I did the firmware update even though I already had it, did all the drivers, changed all the ports, watched all the vid's and did installs per instructions, nothing works. This hi-tech radio stuff just isn't worth it for me. I'm gonna stick to repeaters and simplex.
Will the also work with the ft70 dr? Thanks de Roger w8rlp
zanado11 ...I don’t think so, at least not yet. It wouldn’t surprise me if a firmware update in the near future allows for this though. 73
I tried to find the wires-x pull down from the site as you did, only way to find it now is a web searcb. Once you find itmand open it is ask to enter your email and sent it so they can confirm i am real. The problem is the send button does not work even aftsr trying it again even backing off tne page? Have they shut xown issuimg registrations?
Thanks
vyn
vyn Popplewell ...hello Vyn, I don’t think they have stopped issuing registrations because that is where one gets assigned a Wires-X node number. Perhaps try again on a different browser or computer. 73
Ghost Rider Thanks I have tried three different browsers with the same results. I have also sent an email to the company questioning the page and how to register.
I thank you for your video and fir getting back in my question.

I searched Yaesu for the SCU-20 drivers but I haven’t been able to find them. Could you post a link for them? I like your instructions better than Yaesu ‘s. Thanks de WV8DOF
Dale... you should be able to find the SCU-20 drivers here: www.yaesu.com/indexVS.cfm?cmd=DisplayProducts&ProdCatID=249&encProdID=227201D29C822AEFF8482F3367495319&DivisionID=65&isArchived=0
Hi , Thanks for video . I have done every step but when I push the DX button to connect it doesnt connect using my sc20 cable can u help ? Thanks M0FXB
Andrew Macrides ...have you installed the USB drivers for the cable? If the radio is booted up in the correct mode, the Wires-X software should recognize the radio when the program is launched.
@@GhostRider1974 Hi -Yes all installed it boots up and recognises radio but when i push the x it flashes then stops .
🥺 man, I hate that...can’t think of what it might be offhand. Hard to diagnose without sitting there looking at it.
because this wire has bluetooth function It is possible With the help of the radio to make hands-free phone calls
@@GhostRider1974 thanks for the reply I would like to know if due to the fact that the mobile bluetooth is connected it also gives you the possibility to do it wirelessly and for phone use it would be a great advantage if this particular wireless and any wireless could do it imagine that with a wireless we would have in our car on mobile we could give the problem of open listening to our phone So I wondered if he can do it or not as he has Thank you for the response SV2QLU
Ah, I see. I have heard that some headsets or earpieces, normally used for pairing with a cell, will work with the Yaesu Bluetooth for talking on the radio. I’m not an authority on this since I don’t own any Yaesu Bluetooth equipped radios. I think you can set the radio to operate based on vox keying the radio using this method.
@@GhostRider1974 I would ask you if it is possible to see If this wireless can also do the hands-free function on the phone such as a bluetooth in a simple car it would be very convenient to do it because anyway we carry the wireless where we carry it together because of his hobby if he could do this job it would be very useful for me as a driver in my mobile truck and this thing would help me a lot in general for a better and safer driving
to know that I do not know English and we write translator So there is a case that he writes too many wrong things I want you to forgive me for this in advance
Can other people connect to your radio or do you need to go with the Hri 200
Thomas Henderson ...others that have a Fusion-capable Radio can connect to Wires-X if they are using the digital narrow mode. However, I have to be in HRI mode instead of PDN. That is, I have to select on my radio the operation where it sends and receives RF (on frequencies you select within the Wires-X software) during communications.
@@GhostRider1974 Thank you, there are no wires x repeaters up here in Vermont where i'm in.. So I was thinking to put something on the air to give others a chance to try it. and I also could connect mobile...
Thomas Henderson ...yessir, that will work! Keep in mind though that you’ll need a separate radio (HT or your mobile radio) to hear what’s going on. The rig tied to the Wires-X software will be tied up transmitting RF when anyone is having a QSO.
@@GhostRider1974 So I assume to keep the Wires working you must leave the computer on running the program?
So this can not be used remotely?
It can if you use your cell phone hotspot as bridge for your computer to the internet, 73!
So I need the x box to pump it out my antenna?
No, you can toggle to HRI type mode (at least on an FTM-400) by pressing the band B volume button...however, you will then need another Fusion-capable radio, such as an HT, to hear what is being transmitted and to transmit back into the system.
@@GhostRider1974 so I would need to sell the 100 get the 400?
@@GhostRider1974 have a ft3d and a 300 in the car so if i replaced the 100 in the shack with a 400 I send the wire x signal out the antenna but only digital in the same or similar way as a piatar?
Didn’t show step
Thanks. N0QFT
Hi! Nice Video! Could you make a new video with the default settings on the service menu (the hidden settings)?. Following these instructions, you can access. I probably made some mistakes and I would like to fix it!. The instructions ara available on these sites: radioaficion.com/cms/ftm-100d-alignment/ www.hamoperator.com/Fusion/FusionFiles/K9EQ-FUSION-PDF-0026_FTM-100_Power_Adj.pdf Note that previously you must set the second display into the default setting.
