My review = Nice! My first digital radio. There will be a learning curve. Have played with electronics all my life. This is the cleanest design have ever seen. Have not powered it up but feel it will work. Well packed, fit and finish is flawless. Smaller than my last CB radio. More controls than anyone should ever need. There are buttons everywhere. Microphone feels nice in my hand. Standard connectors, Remote face plate.
I wanted to thank you for your great video. It really helped me a lot to get my FTM-100D online. A word to all Yaesu FTM-100D users struggling to connect to Wires-X network: Upgrade your firmware first, then proceed to all of the other steps (opening UDP ports,an so on). Again, excellent video, sir. Many thanks.
The SCU-20 cable broke for many under Windows 11, meaning we get the privilege of buying a new USB cable (the new SCU-58 kit also comes with the audio cable and the new USB cable) so we can use the FT100 with Win 11 and Wires-X. Fortunately, Yaesu finally dropped the price of this kit to $39. It was about $90 bucks not long ago.
I have done all the updates and wondering how I put the radio on direct node.I was wondering what buttons you push on the radio for the wires-x direct ?I saw it some where on you tube but can not find it now.I think it was with power off DX/GM and power on but that does not work any help?
Okay, my panel cpu is already Ver 2.1. Do I need to do this firmware upgrade? The other two are older versions. Thanks for the video! I did the update anyway. Radio is updated and thanks for the easy instructions! Thanks for the help. I subbed!
Great video and really useful especially about upgrading the firmware. Can you put the FTM100 into Direct Mode if you are connecting via the HRI-200 as cannot work out how to do this?
Thanks so much for the the update video. I cannot believe how convoluted Yaesu has made the update procedure. I have Chinese radios ten time easier to update than this. Come on Yaesu, a little human factors engineering please!!
I have a FT3dr and have requested a node id for it from yeasu. How ever I have a FTM-100 dr coming that i want to set up like you did in this video. how can i request a second node id?

Hi Robert, you have 2 modes, PDN (access point) that transmit RF (you need a HT to communicate) and DIRECT with no RF using the radio MIC as an Internet transceiver (no HT needed). I would not leave the radio without an antenna, just in case, I would at least use a dummy load. 73 Pascal VA2PV

Can I use a analog 440Mhz HT to talk into the FTM-100DR and then out Wires-X using PDN access point mode? Another words do you have use use a FUSION HT to talk to the FTM-100DR access mode or can it be a analog HT?
If you can afford the FTM-400DR I would go with this one as it offer dual VFO (V/U, U/V, V/V and U/U), the FTM-100DR only have a dual watch fonction, but only one VFO. If dual VFO is not important for you go with the cheapest one, the FTM-100DR. 73 Pascal VA2PV
I have this working perfectly except I am not able to get out of the PDN mode. I press and hold the DX key while powering down and power back up normally and the FTM-100 seems to be stuck in this mode. Have you or any of your viewers seen this? Please comment if you know how to get out of this. Thanks in advance!
Hi Donald, to switch modes you need to press A/B, not DX. Another thing, I didn't mention that you need to register your radio (if not already) on the Wires-X website. Otherwise, check your port forwarding in your home router. Hope this help, 73 Pascal VA2PV

Since it needs to be connected to a computer that has access to the Internet before those great features will work, it makes for a better base station than it does a mobile.
Hi Dan, for me it's good for both, it's one of the least expensive mobile rigs with a detachable faceplate, dual band, APRS and one digital mode. 73 Pascal VA2PV
True, I sent that out so that the viewers would know that it requires a computer with an Internet connection to do what you were doing in the demo.
