I have really enjoyed this one. My primary passion is for jewelry making but I’m trying this medium again. I still have problems with making canes that don’t get distorted but I have made some really nice pieces from my goofy messes. I appreciate you showing some fixes and will try them. Your workmanship is truly amazing and I’m so envious. You said you have been working with this for many years and it shows. I’m a newcomer and will continue trying. I need all the help I can get. Thank you for sharing your gift. I’ve learned some from watching you. Thanks again.
I have loved all the tutorials on this series. I have a suggestion for something I do that might make the buttons on the backs of each pendant easier. I put a 2 inch piece of buna cord coated with resist gel in the channel that gets impressed between the two layers. I bake it that way and no drilling is necessary. Then I slide the cord out after they are cooled. I have also used thick wire or hemp cord. Use a pliers if it sticks.
Oh my! Fabulous! Gonna have to dig deep and put on my big girl panties before I attempt this 😬. Thanks, Donna-you always do great toots! Your explanation and direction makes it easy for us noobs to follow, great teacher 🙃
Thank you for the explanations of “why” you do what you do. I can then follow your reasoning. I have watched you since you were on the Carol Duvall Show. Your learning curve for doing videos is great. Keep up the good work!
I also appreciate Donna sharing her thought processes. When you know why, you can make better decisions. Katoclay has different characteristics from other polymer clays, and any tips, tricks, etc. go a long way in helping to master this medium.
I am loving your black and white series. You have inspired me to bring out my clays and start playing. Thank you so very much for your in-depth instructions😍
I still love the one I made with you at Polymania. I made several in the year that followed. Time to revisit this but maybe I’m going to now use some of my surface techniques. Love you Donna ❤
Donna I just love All your art works. Since I lost my husband April of this year I feel sort of lost ( not looking for sympathy-just explaining) I have not been sleeping very good, and I just somehow came to your channel. I love love love your videos. I would like to See you doing the small backing -or at least mesurments for the small version. Also what is that sanding paper called. You Are my therapy -sure I still cannot sleep, but you make my time enjoyable. I will not be able to attempt makeing a full necklace like yours, but I will be makeing a smaller version-like maybe 3 disks as a center to my necklace with beads. Keep those videos coming PLEASE.
Hi Renate, I am so far behind in replies! So sorry for your loss, such a dad and hard time. I can’t imagine how hard, my friend. Very happy I can help a bit. Creating and working with my hands really did save me, I think. Starting small and working up is the way to go. Take care of yourself, Renate. ❤️❤️❤️
I re watch & learn something new each time. Thankyou Donna for sharing your expertise. One question: at the 57:17 time mark you show a selection of finished discs for the necklace. I have been looking for your tutorial that explains the paradox looking cane. I have made your basket weave and reshaped the square giving me your wheat style but this paradox looks different again. Would appreciate your guidance ? Thx.
Hi Lynne! I found that cane on youtube so I recommended the very class. I think I said or wrote it in the class. She does such a great job, it seemed right to share her class. I will look for it and let you know❤️
Because I am a clumsy oaf and dropped my IKEA bowl with raw polymer on it, I found an old plate with a nice rim to place it on. Those IKEA bowls are AWESOME but can be slippery suckers, even the small ones.
Hi there, if youbactually want tomuse resin i cant help, but if you just want a sturdy shine finish tgen i recomend you use UPOL number 1 which is a spray oroduct and works really well. Jill. Apologies for arthritic fingers!
Barbara Spong Thank you Donna for your wonderful tutorial.I have made the necklace but I find when wearing it Some of the disks turn over so that the back is showing!.I have made sure that they are aligned correctly what have I done wrong?
Remember the part about the way they’re strung so that the hole through which the discs are strung is closer to your head? Did you do that, I have on occasion strung them backward (!) and then they turn. Do you arrange them flat before you put the piece on? I love this piece but it does take a bit of arranging before you put it on! Cheers, D
Fabulous!!! What size O Rings and from where do you order them? Also, you mentioned that Kato Polypaste does not cure to be Clear - what color does it look like when cured? I just read Kato Polypaste can be used to bond non-porous surfaces to polymer clay - so it can be used instead of glue to add crystals to designs and you don't have to pick them out and "glue" them back in place after curing? Does the polypaste have to overlap the crystals at all or is it like using "crazy" type glue, so just between the crystals and the clay?
Deb, the Polypaste cures translucent white. That’s why I use the liquid to set crystals. Not sure about bonding non- porous surfaces, though. I should give that a try! Cheers!😊❤️🎁🎄🧑🎄🎉
Hi Lisa; Sorry for the looong delay…I purchased these through pandahall or aliexpress. The challenge is knowing the fineness of the needles - I bought a bunch in different sizes because I wanted thick ones and in the process ended up with several sizes that are used for different things. I like the thick, sturdy ones for cutting my acrylic shapes from Cara Jane’s templates. I use the very thin ones for poking tiny air holes. I wish I had a better answer for you! Hugs, D
Sorry, Donna. I am always asking questions… how did you do the gorgeous second piece? The one that you cut with 1mm? Do you explained it on another tutorial?😊
Ok, the black one with the holes? Now that’s easy. Make the dished part first - cut the disc, cut the smaller holes bearing in mind you must have room for the stringing piece. Cure the disc with holes. After curing, back the piece with raw clay, cut out the holes and press the stringing piece as you did before (blending the edges). Cure it and you are done! ❤️
Hi Donna, i have a question about The small pads for The necklace backs. If both pads are setting #3 with The imprint for The cord ON just one of them, what is The diameter of The cord that goes thru The pads? Im thinking The gap is too small for a 2 mm cord. Am i right Or do i have some of The info wrong? Thanks so much, Jill x
Hi Donna, Jill, here in tge UK. I am having difficulty getting sharp firm blades. Lucy C are Not available here, nor are bkue steel. Would you be able To recomend some other blades?
Hi Marilyn, that’s a tutorial I started selling about a while ago so I can’t do it on this channel for free. Sorry kid, I did it before I started my YT journey. If you want to take the class, it’s called Jumpstart Jellyrolls and it’s 20.00. There’s a lot in the class, kid. Here’s the link in case: py.pl/TFb3w cheers, D
You didn't tell/show us how short the shorties are and how you made them. Is that information in a different tutorial? Thank you very much for these tutorials.

Where can I buy the cord you used for this necklace and is that stretchable?
This is lovely. Thank you so much!
I've looked everywhere for the Kato clasp template. Will you be stocking it soon on Prairecraft?

Hello Donna. Can you tell me what did you use to sand? A sponge and?😊
I use Abranet. I think you can get it here now but I bought it in France. It’s great, lasts a long time. 👍

you know, jill, i use 2mm cord but sometimes i do have to drill the holes a bit larger. this could be the holes shrinking a bit. cheers!
