  • Here is an easy DIY Salt Dough Recipe!! Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to see more of my videos - in my next video I will be making a BULL CHARM using Salt Dough!
Salt Dough is a type of dough that can be molded into any shape that you want and the shape will harden when you bake it. The advantage of salt dough is that it is very cheap and easy to make!
All you need for this recipe is:
    - 1/2 cup plain flour
    - 1/4 cup salt
    - 1/4 cup water
Mix the ingredients together and bake for 3.5 hours at 120°C/250°F (100°C if fan-assisted)

When I was a teacher about 10 years ago I used this method for one of my classes, I made the clay, traced all my students hands and cut out around the hand shapes, let them dry, then painted a santa clause face on them and gave as a Christmas gift to the parents. I ran into one of my students about a week ago and she said she still has the ornament and they hang it every year awww 🥺 but I’m leaving this comment to say, if done right, and handled with care, you have a lifetime keepsake.

Six months late but I had a kindergarten teacher who did this. Big Miss Johnson. I don’t remember for the life of me why that was her moniker but I do remember her and I do remember that hand print. I still have it.
      Teachers are beyond epic.

When I was in about 3-4th grade I made a "turkey" shape, painted it and the teacher glazed it. I don't know what type of clay it was ( I was too young too notice), but I kept that thing for years, my grandmother would put it out during Thanksgiving. It's head eventually fell off.

Hey guys!! I've got a tip for you, you can keep the dough out for like 3days and it will become rock solid (It's air-dry, but it takes longer then normal air-dry clay)

Thanks for sharing your clay making video, but I noticed that your heart clay piece got cracks in it, I have figured out a way to fix this problem, even after they have been baked, I wet them lightly, then I add some flour or more of my clay mixture to it, I then rub it in over the cracks slowly until it is filled in, then I air dry it, then I lightly sand them to a nice smoothness, this has worked for me every time, I hope that this is helpful.

If this took 3.5 hours, how long do u think a huge salt dough state would take? I'm doing a project last minute and I made a salt dough Georgia (the state) and I popped it in the oven a couple of hours ago. I think about 7:30. It's 9 right now and when I stick a toothpick in it, it seems a little hard but then it goes through. I have it on 200 degrees Fahrenheit. I feel like it isn't hot enough but I don't wanna burn it. Can u help me?

I let it sit over night for days to air dry and I did a test to see how durable it was I barely put pressure onto it and it crumbled into pieces

*Təşəkkür 🌹🌹🌹👍👍👍.* Finally someone said how long I need to bake it and at what temperature. 23.05.2022, 19:00 ps: how many grams does your cup contain? I'd be glad if you answered. Thanks in advance. Stay safe, stay blessed, stay with love.

It doesn't matter how many grams on your cup just keep the ratio. So same cup to measure everything 1/2 cup for flour ,then 1/4 of we cup salt and 1/4 water

You need to paint it or use a clear varnish for you to be able to wet it 😊

I would not use self raising flour as it might lose its shape when baking

Am I correct in assuming the salt in use is table salt, not kosher salt? The different granule shapes mean the measured amounts have different weights. 1/4 cup of table salt weighs more than 1/4 cup of kosher.
I've been looking for something to create the mask of a Hollow Knight inspired little doll, but all the white playdough I found was part of a big pack, and I didn't want to waste the other colors. This should work out nicely!
