I can second that, as living in Australia. Chinese owns most of the property, they pay upfront university fees in advance plus even these students they don't had homes rentals they directly bought these houses.

Chinese black money is also the reason of high price real estate in Canadian cities like Toronto and Vancouver. Majority of the house and other properties are bought through shell companies.
