    Oh my goodness! I am reading through the comments and I love you all! My fave is definitely the "Mary Poppins Cabinet"! I love that movie since a child and yes! This was the cabinet that keeps on giving! lol! So happy to finally get it decluttered and sorted out! Even though I wasn't able to declutter through my tea towel collection I am happy about the things I let go! And update on Snoopy snow cone machine...that thing bombed and after my daughter seen how long and hard it was to get a miniscule of snow from it she said let's toss it Mom! 😂 I was like okay! Bye Snoopy! I knew I had to at least let her try it for herself to know the truth and I was so happy that she could easily make the choice to get rid of it too! I think we will stick to the Ninja blender when it comes to making shaved ice! Thank you guys so much for being here! Next weeks video will be cleaning, decluttering, organizing and decorating for Easter! Be back this weekend! xo

    3years agoI started to rage purge our home. I noticed that i could breath more easily, sleep better, cleaning was enjoyable and quick. I became more thoughtful about what came into my house but also discovered my true style! I found that i did NOT like much decor at all. I prefer open spaces and white walls with wood tone or wicker accents. Decluttering was the best thing that ever happened to me. I have four kids that homeschool and it has made our family life so much better!

    Toss the potholders! It's so freeing to break one of the weaknesses. Then every time your tempted to bring more pot holders into your life you will giggle/cringe and remember the time you had to get rid of a huge pile of potholders. One of my weaknesses is bags, handbags, pouches, reusable bags.... so when i made the pile and asked myself, "what is wrong with me, why do i keep bringing bags into my space?" I realized this is something little that I can be aware of. Something little that will give me a sense of control in my chaos. One video i watched the girl spoke about appreciating the beautiful things in the store and leaving there because next time she went to the store there were new beautiful things to enjoy, The point is there will always be something in the shop that will catch our eye and make us desire to own it but once we own it then we have to care for it and make space for it. Toss the pot holders! A little symbolic reminder :)

    I decluttered my linen closet that had all my babies blankets. At first I was keeping some and by the end of it, I just hugged each one and thanked God for the ability to have had to use them. I donated them all. I took 8 bags of donations yesterday. Toys, blankets, towels, curtains that I just don't use.
    I enjoyed watching you go through that Mary Poppins cabinet haha.

I love the idea of hugging them and be grateful that you had the journey of using them. It literally made me cry just now!😭 We truly are so blessed to hold babies in blankets. As a minimalist for 6 years I have to say you're one of the youtubers that I really see a change in the mentality, a lot of youtubers put minimalism in the title because it's trend but I feel like you really want to change.
    Some advices:
    1. Declutter is hard, especially when you're a hoarder but don't give up.
    2. Minimalism it's different for everyone, just do what feels confortable for you and your family. Don't feel intimidated by the minimalist community, unfortunately there's a lot of fakeness and people trying to sell an lifestyle.
    3. More than decluttering, it's important to rethink our buying, buy less, buy more consciously.
    4. I can guarantee you gonna miss some stuff but we figure out a way of doing things without.
    5. You don't have to get rid of all sentimental or important things.
    Good luck on your journey👍
    Sorry about the mistakes, english it's not my first language.

    I love your minimalism journey. I watched some of your videos from last year and decided a lot of your depression and anxiety may well be because of the overwhelming amount of stuff you own! I’m so glad you have found how necessary it is to declutter. I love that you finally realized that you need calming colors and empty spaces in order to find peace. Your kitchen is the heart of your home and I believe it will be very healthy for you if you can keep that area clean and decluttered. Best wishes to you.

    I love a good decluttering session. The mentality of keeping something just to use it once is silly. The money is already spent.. no sense in keeping clutter for any reason, especially that reason. That’s the thinking you need to break free from and you’ll be able to lighten your home so much faster.

    Hi! New to your channel. I hate cabinets that go way back where it's a pain to get to stuff! Whoever designed these clearly never had to climb in the back. I have some similar. What I have done because I just got so tired of dealing with it is, I bought the largest containers I could fit into the space and put all the like items together. I hope this makes sense. The electronic items not used very often went in the container with all electronics and put in the far back. So if I needed them, I would remove the container in front and then pull the container in back out. I don't know if this will work in your situation but it has helped in mine. Just a tip! Thank you for being true to life and exposing the good, bad, and ugly. WE ALL HAVE IT! You are just brave enough to show everyone. So, thank you so much! God bless you from Texas! 🤠

    It's a good feeling to declutter it's like a weight is lifted of your emotions. Having been through this once a year for the past 5 years I learned if you haven't used it in 6 months to a year donate it to the people who don't have much. It's the best feeling in the world 🌎 otherwise you will keep moving it from place to place never gaining space that you need. Life has become easier and more joyful to create, cook and clean.
    Blessings to you on your journey 🙏

    You mentioned you think your hoarding comes from not having money when you (your parents) were young; my husband has the same problem. He gets our kids loads of toys because he had none when he was young. But they have so many that they don't play with them but maybe a minute or two. I think it confuses them because they have so much. Our house has toys EVERY WHERE. So that is giving me anxiety having these all over the place. I watch you and praise you for tackling you spaces! I'm trying to figure it out and trying to get started decluttering this house right along with you!

    • @MightyMama
      @MightyMama  2 роки тому +1

      Hey friend! Yes girl! I am so guilty of this too. I know how your husband feels but I realize now I am only doing more damage trying to over compensate for my losses as a child. It took me many years to finally relaize this and now I am ready to declutter the toys. Soon I will have a vide for that so stay tuned and maybe I can help you there and also with toy organization. And its true when our kids have sooo much they hardly play with it but on the other side of it maybe toy rotation is the solution. Where they do not have access to it all all of the time. And each month switch the toys. Thats also something I plan to do. Stay tuned! We gonna figure thsi out Mama! In the meantime, tell your husb to stop buying more toys!🤣 I had to tell myself and I only buy for birthday, easter and christmas. No more just buying throughout the week just because. This was hard to stop because it feels good to see how hapoy they are to recieve it but I no longer want my kids to find hapoiness in things but more so in relationships and nature and adventures. Like real life stuff not objects. This is a big reason I started minimalism too. I just want that freedom from stuff to trulyblive with my kids! Maybe share these thoughts with your husband too. Stay Mighty Mama! It will all work out!🤎💪🙏🦋

    Yay! I know you're feeling much better, and I heard the happy when you showed the final reveal! Can I suggest a couple of push lights from Dollar Tree to place inside your cabinets in order to see wayyy in the back? Yes, you have a lot of space to store in there, and I can relate to that clutter! I have no closets and didn't think of it when I bought my condo. Then, as I started to move things in, I SCREAMED! It might be a positive thing, bc they would be filled with more STUFF, lol! I know the feeling of having a cabinet or closet that you're afraid to open bc we call ourselves putting things away, and they just pile up! Then, we don't feel like dealing with it at times until we have to. I'm getting to the point that I don't want visitors over anymore until I feel comfortable with decluttering and cleaning. I've been in a lot of pain, getting older and depressed, and it's not easy. People don't understand, especially if they've seen me being a neat freak all of my life to THIS!? I try taking one day at a time, having a plan as I look around, and NOTHING gets done bc I'm overwhelmed and stuck on the couch! Enough of me...its time to get something done! Thanks for the motivation! Sending my love, and congrats for the success! TFS🤎

    the tiered bowls and plates i would literally use as planters!!! The bowls would look so cute with some trailing plants hanging down and the plates could have little pots with succulents on them. The plates could also be used on a bathroom counter to contain things like toothpaste and the stuff that always gets left out on the counter! Or, you could use it in the bedroom for placing remotes, jewelry perfumes, etc... i love the vertical space those things offer for more than just food!!!

    I hang up my potholders on a pin right next to the stove, so that I always know how many I have and where they are. Then I don't need to buy any. Still on the same 2 for the last ten years, and I'll probably get 10 years more out of them. I've never had an issue with lots of stuff (lived semi-minimalist by default as this is both my husband's and I's preference), but am doing an extreme downsizing right now as we are moving in a RV and living a nomadic life, as my husband has a great job online. (I got married WAY too young at 19, had my son at 20, divorced at 30, remarried the LOVE OF MY LIFE at 34, so now at 40 my son is grown and on his own, so ready for the next chapter of my life. I understand most aren't ready for that kind of life either ever or much later in life!) But anyways, I'm watching a lot of minimalism vids for inspo!

    It would be best to donate those unused items rather than keep them to use them once. That way you clear the clutter immediately rather than holding onto it for no good reason. And someone will be blessed with new items that they will use!

      Hi Gigi! Thanks for being here and I understand what you say but honestly we really want to give these things a try because that is what we intended to do initially when purchased. We may love it and keep for good. If we do not then we donate gently.used and anyone will still love to get it at that time. This is a situation of forgetting we had the items but still wanting to use them. The guilt of spending money and not even using it kicks my OCD into full gear and so instead of obsessing ober letting it go. I will hang on and try it with the family and then decide. I appreciate your advice. Take care! Xo

    Oh...wanted to share.... Girlfriend, I watched your video the other day, and I freaking cleaned and decluttered THREE small spaces in my house. They were closets, a built in hallway office nook thing, and built in storage things in the office of our house. It felt great. I also adjusted my clothes storage for the respective seasons. I used to fold and put my colder clothing items in the suitcases and shove under the bed. But that got to be annoying when we took a small vacation. I'd have to unpack the clothes, place them kinda neatly on the spare bed and have a stupid clutter mountain that stressed me out upon return. I prayed on it, watched some of your videos and other people's channels and you all helped!!! So thank you for this real-life motivating content!! God bless you girlfriend!! ❤️❤️❤️💪

I have to declutter that and it's twin on the other side of my kitchen so often because it's so large and easy to just shove and it doesn't help that it's kind of difficult to get things out once they're in since the openings are so small compared with the size of the cabinet

    The only way I know to make this style of cabinet work is trays of the right size. You need one the width of the door that you can slide all the way out when you reach the back. You can then have 1 or 2 more trays to pull forward towards the door to bring the items from the back to the front. It can make the cabinet somewhat useful.

    • @MightyMama
      @MightyMama  2 роки тому

      I have been thinking of a solution similar to yours but then it would not allow any space in the front near the door if I needed to slide tray up and back. Then I would actually lose storage space for the sliding trays/racks. 🤔 Its tricky!♡

Thats all I am doing until I get absolutely sick of it all and rage declutter!🤣😂 Seriously, though I am making a point now to avoid shopping inside Target. Instead online shopping so I do not have to be tempted by the dollar spot which really is not a dollar for most good things. Do you know majority of the stuff is 3$ and 5$. I believe I paid $5 for the last set of tea towels I purchased. I think thats high especially for the quality. They are cute but super cheap and shrink up so much. I'm over this crap! Lol! Online shopping is helping me these days in more ways than one! Stay Mighty! You got this Jen!💪🙏🤎🦋

      @@MightyMama Right? I never understood why they called it the $ spot when most is $3, $5 & even $10! I only get the little holiday towels but yes they are pretty cheap quality. I only use them for decor (my Hubby & kids got "the talk" about not using them 😆) so haven't washed them but will remember that they shrink so I keep from having to wash them much, if @ all.
      Online shopping is for me also. However, Amazon makes it hard because if I get to scrolling through it I will ALWAYS find something I don't need haha!

    Why does it have to be a minimal home?? You have lots of toys, just stuff and clutter with a small house and kitchen. I watch and I think, this young woman is worrying herself about being minimal. Maybe less stress if you just embrace a cleaner, more uncluttered home but not so intent on being a minimalist. We are all different and so are our homes.
    I worry about your depression and anxiety. I hope you are seeking professional help. I speak from experience as a woman who has diagnosed BiPolar for 32 years.
    Take care of yourself and you can take care of your home and family.
