She tried to tell the truth but the judge wouldn't listen because he was sleeping with the brother's wife too. That why he has "bloodstains on his hands"
This is one of the cases where you need to hear the song first before seeing the music video because a lot gets thrown at you. If you listen to the song Raymond is coming back from a business trip and stops in at the bar to have himself a drink before going home to his wife. Andy, his best friend, decides to come up and tell him that his wife is sleeping around. And then when Raymond starts getting upset Andy, class A dumbass, decides to tell him that man it's nothing to be upset about, she's been sleeping around with everybody I've evsn been with her. Andy is the one that ends up dying by the way. Shocker. In the music video it's also insinuated that Andy is also sister's fiancée, so she didn't just kill them because of Raymond, it was her own revenge as well. And as to the hanging, she does say that no one would listen to her, so she did try to get her brother off, but the judge stonewalled her because he was sleeping with Raymond's wife too. It's a very complicated story with a very dramatic music video, and it is probably her best overall concerning storytelling.
@@dreamteamneal another clue that Andy didn't kill Raymond is that Andy came upon tracks too small for Raymond to make, also they thought the wife had left town but Reba's character in the song killed the wife and hid the body. the woman in the beginning of the video is Raymond's sister but many years after the murders. Her brother caught her at Raymond's standing over his dead body but took the charge himself to cover and protect her. The 'blood" the judge had on his hands was Raymond's because Raymond was innocent but the judge convicted him and sentenced him to hang. It is confusing.. you have to watch it several times before you catch every thing so don't feel bad about being lost.
@@moviegirl1100 Well dang.. Someone should make this a movie if it hasn't been already.. I have heard the song quite often myself. But it is a music video I didn't watch a lot of times. Though while Listening to the song, I have caught the line "Little sister don't miss when she aims her gun." And that's the only thing I was able to catch out of it. Lol. Besides the fact reason why she killed was because caught them cheating. And I knew for a fact that she was guilty for the killing. But I myself was confused with the line "the judge in the town has bloodstains on his hands."
@@moviegirl1100 Her brother didn't catch her at Raymond's. Her brother's name was Raymond. He caught her standing over Jack's body AT Jack's house. Otherwise, every thing you said was right.
You missed the beginning part where she said she didn't know her brother's wife was messing with her fiance too. The man she shot along with her brother's wife was her fiance.
This reporter in this video reminds me of John "John Boy" Walton Jr.(The Waltons). I can practically imagine John Boy being an investigative reporter covering this story in such Southern murder mystery. 😳
Thank you for doing this song! I really enjoyed watching you react to the story and all. Another good song of hers to do is Fancy. However if you want something where she really shows off her vocals, you should check out her song You Lie.
I love all her songs. Two good ones are "The greatest man I never knew" and "She thinks his name was John". Would love to to see your reaction to them.
She has hundreds of songs, her most famous is Coal Miners Daughters. Also fist city, don't come home a drinking and etc. They made a movie about her and she is still alive. She was one of the biggest female artist in country music, she made way for future queens like Reba to shine.
You can never go wrong with Loretta Lynn! Classic country is my favorite! There isn't anyone that compares to the Legends of Country! People like Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams Jr & Sr, Roy Acuff, Charlie Daniels, Waylon Jennings and so on!!
I know I'm way late on this. And people have mostly explained the story. But another detail that I haven't seen mentioned in the comments is that there wasn't much of an investigation because the local sheriff is related to the judge "I'll see you at home for supper," who, as you know, was sleeping with the brother's wife.
Dana says- No. She said they hung her brother before she could try to explain the truth. The video says that no one would have listened to the grieving sister of a scorned man anyway, intimating that this is how she's comforted herself all these years, by believing that even if she had spoken up sooner they wouldn't have listened to her. She is only finally confessing now that she's old and probably won't have to serve much time (and now that the judge isn't around and in power anymore too).
One of my all time favorite songs my the Queen Reba its a lot easier to figure out if you watch the music video like you did. The little sister killed the woman because no only was the woman cheating on her brother but she was sleeping with the little sisters man to and the brother came in and told the little sister to run and took the blame and when the little sister tried to tell the judge he didn’t want to listen because the judge was also sleeping with the brothers wife’s to hence the line the judge in the town has blood stains on his hands. She didn’t want to let her brother hang for it she tried to tell the truth to the judge but since the judge was sleeping with the brothers now dead wife he wanted it all to go away fast so he didn’t listen to her and nobody else would listen to her when she tired to tell the truth because they thought she was just the grief stricken sister of a then convicted killer she waited 40 years so that everyone involved like the judge couldn’t go against her anymore
Yeah. That's one of my issues with the video--whoever edited it (I mean the official video) didn't wait until there weren't any lyrics being sung, so you miss the lyrics that clarify what's going on in the video. Great reaction though!
He took the blame because she was saying she did confess but the didn't believe her because she was said to be a grieving sister and the judge didn't want the truth because he was with raymund's wife too.

I had heard this song before so I knew what to expect but you're right, it's hard to hear the lyrics because of the talking in the video. Still, you you were able to piece it together pretty well. It's not one of her original songs but I do like how she does it.
It's basically the brothers wife was cheating on him and she caught her so she shoot them both and he came home and saw them and told her to run and he shot to get the cops attention. The judge didn't wana hear the true story cause he was sleeping with the brothers wife. She was telling the reporter about it 40 years later
They hung the brother so fast that the sister did not have a chance to admit she was the one who killed them. So the brother got hung for what the sister did. Killing her brothers cheating wife and lover.
I hate the music video. This song has more information in it than any other song and they have people fucking speaking over the lyrics. Its hard to hear. Its a great song though, just unfortunate how they did the video
The lady cheated on her brother Raymond and cheated w Rebas fiancé as well ..Reba is Raymond’s sister and she’s older woman telling the journalist the story ..so Reba was pissed over Raymond and her fiancé both .. and the judge was w Raymond’s wife
It doesn't surprise me that you got so lost with this song. This is a remake, you should react to the original version by Vicki Lawrence.. In my opinion, I think the original is better.
When u watch the video it's hard vto understand because of all the talking... you need to just listen to the song first without the video... Seriously if you don't know the song you can't get it from the video what's going on
With all due respect, if you would watch the video and then watch again with your comments every 15 seconds maybe the people who have never heard or seen the video could. You are very sweet but stopping every few seconds is just annoying.
She tried to tell the truth but the judge wouldn't listen because he was sleeping with the brother's wife too. That why he has "bloodstains on his hands"
Got it!! that makes more sense now!
AND the guy that was killed (Andy) with little sister’s sister in law was little sister’s fiancé...tangled web

Well done. Don't mess with family.

Check out her cover of Beyonce's "If I Were A Boy" ....Reba can definitely go toe to toe with anybody
My dad bet money to dance with her in Oklahoma in the 80s before she was famous.
💙💙💙
The Queen is Loretta. She is a prolific song writer and paved the way for others like Dolly and Reba.
Actually Loretta's title is 'The First Lady of Country Music'.
I use this song to threaten all my little brother's partners little sister may not miss when she Ames her gun but neither does big sister
She tried to confess before her brother died but no one believed her or didn't want to investigate further
No she didn't even get to confess ...."they hung my brother before I could say......"

🔥❤️🔥
It wasn’t the judge. It is that woman (the sister)
Do some of her earlier work. Whoevers in New England
It took me a lot of times watching the video to finally understand it the judge was equally guilty Raymond took the fall for his sister (Reba)
He took the blame because she was saying she did confess but the didn't believe her because she was said to be a grieving sister and the judge didn't want the truth because he was with raymund's wife too.
Wait, the judge would also have gone to jail too because of conspiracy.
She didn’t let her brother take the wrap, she says in the song that they hung her brother before she could confess
Queen of country music? I'd say Dolly Pardon is the queen of country music.
She tried to tell the story but they didn't believe a grief stricken sister
Also, I don't know if you caught that Reba, herself, played the part of the old lady, and the young girl, running in the shadows!!
His sister killed them ..she is telling the story
😊😊😊
Its always a bit hard to listen to the lyrics in this video alongside the actors talking. But yeah, you nailed it despite the confusion.
People are crazy by billy currington
You should try Take it back
In the lyrics, she says well they hung my brother before I could say… she was gonna confess
Great job! Maybe you should consider a career in investigating...that was a difficult one.
Thank you!
If you want some old school country hank williams jr and sr most of their songs are amazing pick one
You should listen to somebody should leave. Her voice was at it's peak then.
Raymond covered for his sister ( reba..lol)
And what am i gonna do about you. Both are great
Listen to cowgirl don't cry
PS Vickie Lawrence (Carol Burnett Show) did this song first.
The two that was killed was Andy's wife and her fiance.
They hung him right away. I don't think she had time to stop it
Can ya react ro kids an angel good morning by charley pride
