I don't think most people understand how hard it is to sing properly and play drums at the same time , Deen is a world class amazing drummer playing extremely difficult drum parts while singing pretty much exactly like Steve perry ... no other drummer I've heard of can do this ... and his singing ability he could literally walk into any existing band and become their singer ... just amazing talent ~

I can't help but wonder if Arnel uses a vocal track at times, because it wasn't very long ago when he was missing some high notes and now he can hit at least some of those previously missed notes. And you're totally right about Deen in Journey Through Time. From previous comments on other videos, I have seen others say that Deen doesn't want to lead, but with JTT, he totally proved that he can. They need to can Arnel and let Deen do most of it and give Jason Derlatka more chances to take on the lead vocals instead of just one or two. There may be others out there, but I've only seen videos of Jason singing three-"Girl Can't Help It", "I'll Be Alright Without You" and "Faithfully." Other than adding an extra word or two in "Faithfully", he totally nails that and "I'll Be Alright Without You." When I first heard him on that song, on certain parts of it, he sounded a lot like Steve Perry. Not an exact match but close. Again, they need to give him more chances to lead. Arnel has his own voice. He doesn’t try to mimic Steve. Dean is way underrated and a huge talent. I believe Dean could bring back the emotion to the lead vocals if he ever wanted to become lead singer. They’ve asked him, but he’s more comfortable behind the drums. I like Arnel, but I think Dean could bring back the vintage Journey feel as when Steve was lead singer.
To all Perry fans: Arnel was brought in to continue a legacy sound that was made popular with Perry on lead vocals.He was not brought in to go in a different direction and thus he "sounds like" the original.Neal Schon said so in interviews why he made the effort to bring AP to the fold.AP is a Perry fan himself and has tremendous respect for the man.Just enjoy the music.Lets all enjoy it and cross our fingers that Steve might one day return and do even just one song with the old crew.That would be a blast.

This is indeed an amazing live performance... There is another live footage from a show in Manila years ago where you can easily tell the vocals on the video were pre-recorded. I am not sure why, Deen can do an insanely good job for sure, playback is not needed!!

Saw this show Thursday night in Rochester and we were blown away by Deen's performance! He was absolutely my favorite part of the night ♥
