The most gold I ever made as a mage was when I randomly complimented a guy on his name, I can't recall what it was but it was something like Beaudaggit. He waved at me, opened a trade window and gave me 5 gold. This gave me an idea. So I started selling my portals but I also offered compliments. It was a joke at first, but then people were actually paying me (nothing as substantial as the first guy, mainly like 50 s. and random items). After an hour and 15 minutes I had made roughly 56 G, 2 stacks of Mageweave cloth, A glass of milk and a random green piece of armor. It was a weird day.
I love how Isellgold slowly turn around when he hear:"I have no gold"
I love the fact that he did a portal to Og in Undercity instead of just teleporting lmao
"You can't handle my portals, traveler. You need to go to a mage that sells weaker portals."
"Can I get a portal to Undercity (from Orgrimar) for free? I have no gold"

Paying 10,000 when that other mage was charging 5 gold per portal. Which includes the regeants cost for making each portal. The man just payed for 2,000 portals in one go.
Gotta love the dramatic turn from IsellGold never disappoints. He needs to become your best friend and then at the end of wotlk you get in to some deep relationship with em and turns out to be a girl. Causing Azamous to fall in love.
