Trying the UK's FASTEST Arrive & Drive Karting Experience!

- I was invited by the team at ADX to try out their "Arrive & Drive Experience" which is the fastest of its kind in the UK.
For £125, drivers can experience what it's like to pilot a full-on race prepared Rotax Max kart, with around 32bhp (compared to around 6-7bhp in a typical rental kart).
To find out more or to book your session head to:

Did this yesterday and it was BLOODY MEGA!!!!! never experienced anything like it. achieved a 38.8 at 95kg! happy with that!! hell of a 40th birthday present!!!
Glad you had a fun day :)
Couldn't help but laugh when the "Target Lap Time: 38.00 seconds" disappeared to reveal you already did a 37.5 🤣
😅
Yes, becoz he can drive. A FAST KART….his experience travels with him
@@ianwalker4030 I think you need to read my original comment again, since you clearly don't understand what I was trying to point out.
I’m sure he took a few laps to get the 37.56….. the target was still 38 before he got in it
@@ianmitchell9102 Again, reread my comment. It’s just a small continuity detail that made me chuckle
Ha! My Son has just started racing here in Junior Rotax (his PB is 36.2) so I was interested to see that 'some guy' had just turned up to an arrive and drive and delivered a 36.4 lap. Then I searched you up 🙂
Haha - the tyres were very much past their best and I was running at full senior weight, so it’s a decent representation of what I could do I think - but there’s lots of potential for better times with fresher tyres and more fitness!
This is a cool idea I used to race Rotax for a long time, minimax all the way through to seniors. It's good that people are giving others an opportunity to drive one, and for people who don't race in 2strokes, it will be a wake up call to how rapid they are :D
already was planning on booking a session for my birthday in june ! looks fantastic
From those sluggish heavy classic rental karts.. Nothing prepares you for the brutality of a Rotax those first few times. ❤ Then tuning it to your body and the circuit for even quicker times.
Great video Brad. It’s interesting what you said about your neck hurting. I had to buy a carbon fibre helmet because the stresses on the neck are so extreme. Rapid lap time!
Not just hurting - literally failing to be able to stay upright! 😅
@@BradPhilpot yep, I have the same issue. It’s embarrassing to have my head hanging out the side of the kart for the last 5 laps 😂
@@jeffoboyle when I did this regularly, it stopped being a problem. After two race weekends, I’d built the strength to deal with it. But the first one was a nightmare.
@@BradPhilpot Good point, there’s no substitute for seat time. Most people would be amazed at how physically demanding these karts are. They are a world away from the usual hire karts.
Nearly all the outside hire tracks in Thailand have these type of 2 stroke racing karts for hire. Prices varies from £12 to £40 for 12 min session depending where and level of performance of kart
Wow!
Thai's love two stroke.
Scooters boats karts..
Best kart engine ever, mini , junior and senior specs were all 100% hassle free . No silly rebuilds, more or less bulletproof.
No idea why they changed to iame for national racing as rotax was so popular .
Still not cheap , we’d go through £500 - 1k a weekend factoring in team fees / tyres travelling and maintenance. .
Great video Brad and very nice driving.....that's rapid! The kerbs at Pilon corner look much nicer now then when I raced rotax here, bet the neck torture is the same though 😅 I would love to come and join you for a session someday.....
The kerbs are way nicer there now. Would be cool to get out on track with you here ❤
I've only been rye house once, and i couldnt get my rotax started all day long, and when i finally got it going i asked someone to pump up my rear tyres up and he inflated them to 60psi i was spinning out on every corner😂
Oof that’s not the ideal pressure! 😅
Amazing, will definitely need to try this!
I’ve done a 39.74 in an old non evo otk around here, what I’m very happy with considering I’m 107kg
the price is pretty reasonable for the experience !
Yeah when you consider what an equivalent length DMax session would cost and factor in how much faster the ADX kart is, it’s very well priced.
This looks great. I did a season of endurance pro kart about 25 years ago, always wanted to try Rotax but now being 60 years old I'm not sure I have the reaction time for it.
You’d be fine!
I was recently at Lydd kart track and there was an 84 year old in his shifter kart which I was amazed to see him flying around in, you’ll be absolutely fine!
Go as fast as you’re comfortable with and then increase from there
Beg borrow or steal a neck brace , there is very little “ rest “ time at Rye House or ask the man nicely please can you put a set of Dunlop SL 3 ‘s on the kart 👍
That looks awesome. I’m definitely gonna do that with my work colleagues. What cc was the kart you were racing?
125cc two stroke
That made me exhausted just watching that! haha Do you ever, even in the GX karts, do you ever find that your ribs and armpit cramp up? I tried to do a A&D league a couple weeks ago and my ribs up through my armpit and neck cramped up so damn bad, I couldn't control my Kart in a safe manor and retired the race on my own accord.
That isn't one I've ever had before, no!
That looks epic!
Daytona need to update their "we are the fastest rental karts"
They’ve not been the fastest for years! C100 is faster
@@AlexVangeenRacing nah bro dmax is just a bit faster
@@yeyeass6485it’s not though. Same engine but c100 way way better looked after
Its really not. Not trying to hate them, but their karts are the same engines but run much richer, restricted, and the tyres are terrible. Its fun for a cheap arrive and drive, but c100 is much faster @@yeyeass6485
They claim 70mph🤣🤣
Did the Evo fix the bogging issues with the Max?
Great video Brad
Thanks David!
Nothing compares to driving a Rotax.
Looks like there is lots of solid stuff to hit around the circuit. Is the average punter going to arrive and die?
It only goes as fast as you tell it to go!
@@BradPhilpot and that's where the problems begin...................
We can see 37.56 as your previous lap so that was the spoiler there tbf
Eagle eyes 🦅
Looks amazing but what level of experience would you say you should have step up to those?
Hey Matt! You should probably consider yourself a very competent / pretty fast rental kart driver in normal four stroke, Honda powered rental karts first I’d say.
@@BradPhilpotthanks! Well something to work up to! Thanks for sharing
please shout if you want any help 👊🏼
Hey Brad its Danny from Rhy house with the Tony kart, i fixed the brake isue
Would love to come testing with you guys can we link up ??
@@atdmotormechanics hey Danny! That would be great! I don’t own a rotax though so I don’t have any testing planned for the near future
do you need your own equipment to race eg helmet suit ?
Nope! All supplied
Am I right in saying no gears? Looks great.
Just the one gear!
Awesome 🤩
Thanks 🤗
What helmet do you use is is an SK6?
Yes - that’s an Arai SK6 painted by Nippy Designs.
@@BradPhilpot thanks mate, where did you get your visor from?
@@WBP69191Grand Prix Racewear
Exact reason i own a rotax evo 😊
Did you get Spanners to show up?
Not yet!
Really enjoyed this and it just popped up on my feed.
Have you tried electric karts? My good friend owns an indoor state of the art track which would be cool to try out
Thanks for watching! I’ve driven quite a few electric karts. Where is your friend’s track?

Great video I just don’t like when on your camera it blurs out the background and only focuses on your face, especially when trying to show something that’s behind you lol :)
@@DanWalker97_ fair comment Dan - I’ll stop using cinematic mode on the iPhone
@@BradPhilpot appreciated 👌🏼will look much better imo :)
Need a hack in a KZ next! 🚀🚀
I believe that may be on the cards at some point in the future
@@BradPhilpot I hope you can! The first few laps in one definitely stay with you, they are complete animals. The neck doesn't appreciate it though, it has to be said 😄
Boom!
Thanks for watching :)
Little aggressive on entry nice driving though for first time... There is hope there
My man if you want to get close to a f1 car a superkart is where you need to go
Why would you do this over a race day at a team meeting? price point is very similar
A race day would cost way more than this! Even if you owned your own kart, entry fees alone are typically £125, plus fuel, tyres, mechanic - the list goes on…
Then remember you’d need a licence, club membership fees etc etc
The price isn’t even remotely comparable.
@@BradPhilpot I raced, a test day would be very similar. Mechanic isn't exactly needed imo Karts aren't rocket science but for a newb then yeah they'd need one
@@flying5145remember - this experience is designed to be as hassle free as any other arrive and drive session.
You don’t need a licence - you don’t need your own equipment. So it’s a different target audience.
@@BradPhilpot I am saying you don't require an MSA license for practice/testing. I am saying for a similar price you could run a practice day similar to what you did for a very similar price. What you did was essentially a half day test/practice day.
However the Target audience i completely agree with and i can see that being a bulk of their clientele. Not sure i would want a complete novice taking out a rotax max on an OTK chassis around somewhere as tight as Rye. Is there no previous requirements or checks?
@@flying5145Ah you said Race Day so that’s what I thought you meant. Remember, you could enter a test day for that price sure. But you’d then need to rent a kart for the day, fuel it, provide tyres etc.
So I don’t see how you could do a test day for that kind of money without already owning the kit (which as you know is thousands of pounds).
ADX have slower karts like prokarts for less experienced people. The price is around half of the rotax cost too. So if someone wasn’t deemed to be competent enough then they could do that.
But again, it’s better for someone to drive a rotax for the first time on a nice private session with ADX rather than getting in everyone’s way on a proper test day (and paying loads more money for the privilege!) 😂
Gaaaaaaaa I need to save £125
120 pound per half hour 😂
Genuinely excellent value when you consider the alternative options for having an experience in a rotax max kart.
@@BradPhilpot if you think spending 120 pound in half an hour is good value driving a kart, you ain't in touch with reality.
Can you suggest a more cost effective way to drive a rotax for half an hour without buying one first?
If not, you’re just talking rubbish I’m afraid. A Daytona DMax session of an equivalent length is around £90 and that’s for a detuned version on a rental chassis.
I’m not sure what your reference point is, but as someone who definitely does have their finger on the pulse of the rental kart scene (as owner of the British rental kart championship since 2011) as well as a vast amount of experience in owner karting - I’m telling you as a fact, this is excellent value for an experience in this kind of kart.
A business charging less than this would simply not be viable with the associated running costs, track hire costs, staff costs.
Having said all that, I welcome your explanation of how you could do it more cheaply. Let’s go ⬇️
As an additional note on this, here are some costs for equivalent length sessions in MUCH slower rental karts in the UK:
F1 Drive, electric karts, around 8bhp: 15 mins practice, 15 mins race - £85
Daytona DMax sprint (40 mins): £110
Don't forget Club100 too, their prices are even higher than DMax. Arguably better value though to some extent
Do they provide a suit and helmet or do you need your own ?
I believe they provide everything
I rang up and they said you have to have your own suit which is unfortunate
@@lewiswake9440 that’s strange - I borrowed one of theirs when I went with my friends
@@BradPhilpot hmm strange , will have to wait till I have a suit and helmet as don’t want to risk booking it and not being able to do it. Looks amazing though
I’m assuming the 120 doesn't include your practice fee for the track, but that’s still a pretty good deal for three full sessions in a competition kart with a mechanic.
The price is the total. There is no practice fee at the track. The £125 is the total cost.
Aw poo, it's over 4 hours away from me in a car :(
Worth it - but also, where are you based? ADX are going to other tracks too soon.
@@BradPhilpot Manchester mate. I nearly rode in karts of this similar power in Egypt, Sharm has an FIA approved track. But the closest thing I’ve gotten is Three Sisters Race track in Wigan, they’re quite fast but nothing like this I don’t think.
ADX are planning a day at PFI which is one hour north so a little closer to you.
But in my opinion it’s worth making a day of it and coming down to Rye House. Manchester isn’t crazy far away!
Why have you increased the speed of the recording….DISAPPOINTING!
I’m assuming this is a joke. Nothing has had the speed increased. You can literally time the laps with a stopwatch and you’ll see they match with what it says on the dash.
Brad that fake background blur is super distracting and really ruins a great video
Yep - it’s cinematic mode on the iPhone. It’s been noted and I’ve bought a new camera for this style of video so it won’t be an issue in the future.
Cobblers
🤦 Promo sm
