I was fortunate enough to grow up in the D.C./Baltimore area and was even more fortunate to see Danny live a handful of times. Everything you read is true!!! Not just as a player but as a person. I encourage everyone to listen and watch as much of him as you can!
In hindsight, having only read about them in gtr mags but not knowing how near I was to clubs and bars Danny G & Roy B were gigging, it is such a bummer to me that when I was stationed in MD near DC during the 80's that I missed two years of opportunities to have seen/heard them both live. F'ing heartbreaking.
Great videos and info on Danny and his.playin ..he inspired me Bigtime..what a talent...what a loss...but inspiring is key ..thanks Greg...luv ur playing..hello from Toronto Canada..u inspire too
Hi Greg. You're a brave man to take on explaining the incredible skills of my all-time favourite guitarist, Danny Gatton. You did an excellent job and gave me plenty to work with! Gil Parris is a mutual friend, say hi to him if you meet up with him - another fantastic guitarist just as you are.
Greg is great; deserves to among all my alltime guitar heroes: Gatton, Breau, Django, Wes, Scotty Anderson, Johny Smith, Beck, Holdsworth, Bryant, Garland, Bickert. And the greats now Mancuso, Asato, Donato, Taranto, Bonamassa, Hilland, Trucks, Govan, Gamballe.
Also Andy Wood, Timmons; Andy Wood might be the best one out there theses days; but in can't say that really, like Danny said too many leaves at the top of the tree.
I'm confused...so, someone might show up at my house to charge me with guitar etiquette infractions...or they're not going to. Thanks a hell of a lot, Greg!! Now, I'm worried. 😯
I almost broke my hand trying to move my 2nd finger up to the 3rd frret on the 1st string with the other fingers in that position. GK does have some big mitts.

Me: Puts my guitar down, time to wind down for the night.
Also me: Watches this video and picks up my guitar to play for another hour. 😂
Only heard of Danny Gatton today, but it sure was worthwhile looking into his history. Thanks for the great stories.
You've been missing out then! I've learned a lot over the years from Danny, I think everyone that watched him has

Greg is King!
He he i have been a huge fan of Greg for years now and watched him a lot. Still the opening lick just blew my mind. 😧
I really love these Story Time videos, always something worth learning
It's awesome to get a lesson from Greg!
Greg has an incredible facility on the instrument.
Awesome video! Very Inspiring! That first opening lick gave me goosebumps! Thats what drives me to get playing! Thank You for Sharing! Glenn Joslyn
now we're learning something ! NICE !
As gatton would say, I don’t charge for mistakes!
He would also say, "I don't understand, it was in tune when I bought it "
Lol
Thanks for showing those ideas! I like them! :D
Greg is my hero!

I'd definitely add josh Smith onto the greats right now and Roy Buchanan and Albert Lee to my all time heroes but nice list 😁
Oh and Guthrie trapp 😎

Love these, every time they come up. I want my... I want my Story Tiiiiime.... (cue Knopfler riff)
I kinda want this video down so that I can keep all the tasty licks to myself!
In all seriousness, Gatton is a name all musicians should know.
Twang titan!!! Keep it up Greg!
You are fucking cool
Greg you gotta bail me out here! the guitar infraction etiquette police have me in lock down!
Cool band name: "The Funk Infractions!"....
I read Les Paul ranked Danny top 10.
Not suprised.
Great playing Greg, but no, Danny was the best.
kLOP?? never knew he played guitar
Who are the 3 knuckleheads that don't like this? Identify yourselves.
Okay I love Danny but that is too much treble.
he should have been better prepared for that....
