  • Welcome to Gothic, Colorado-one of the coldest places in the United States. This ghost town has been abandoned since the 1920s, but there is at least one person who still calls it home. For more than 40 years, current resident billy barr has lived in a small cabin, recording data about the snowpack to pass the time. In this short film, Morgan Heim of Day’s Edge Productions profiles the legendary local who inadvertently provided scientists with a treasure trove of climate change data. Winner of the Film4Climate competition organized by the Connect4Climate Program of the World Bank (film4climate.net).

RWB Yang - You're looking at this all wrong. For starters, 40 years alone gives him a lot of time to think. Secondly, the wise among us (at least, I'd argue they're wise) seek happiness in solitude and simplicity.
Not that I'm saying that this guy in particular is wise, but if anyone is wise it is some people like him.

+RWB Yang maybe he spends his time learning and reading or writing. He lives in a very beautiful place.more than most of us can say living in these urban ugly poverty looking cities but even in the cities you have to find some beauty in it.Beauty is everywhere.you just have to look for it.I think it's great he can live like this. Most of us are to spoilt by modern living.I know I am.I have to give the guy. credit for going it alone.

For instance, when the warm weather season comes, does he have employment maybe in town which then will keep him through the winter? I don't roast anymore, I've moved on to burning, both in cooking and in life I burn like there's no tomorrow, and you got burnt. of course I got the brain today was my turn and I don't plan on sharing while I gots it so you can go to the jelly corner cause there ain't no peanuts in that butter. I'd trade in that thesaurus back to the voodoo doctor cause I'm certainly more facetious than factious or facstious and my emanations don't have no emnation. as worthless as my words I'll take as a compliment were my creepy elmo toy not saying it crawling out of my trash bin yesterday so I know you didn't come up with that on your own.

That can be true if you don't listen to everyone trying to sell you something -- the ads all say YOU need this, YOU need to do this or that, so that you are indoctrinated with their sales pitch until you really DO think you "need" what they're selling! Then they add "you need to call RIGHT NOW, don't' wait, do it NOW! It's an art that makes the Madison Avenue ad-men very wealthy! No one just describes what they're selling today and let you decide on the merits of whether or not you need it, they pound it in to you with personal remarks pertaining to YOU, telling you to buy something! The emphasis is no longer on how good the product is, it's on YOU NEED IT RIGHT NOW! That's why I mute all commercials on TV!

For the moment we KNOW that a human is taking irreversible and huge damage when going into space.
Let's take one exemple, a human that stay 6 month in space and come back on earth have it's arteries aged for 10 years older.
For your arteries 6 month into space = 10 Years on earth...That hurt, I mean a reasonable person would never go into space.
