The 2024 Emilia Romagna GP absolutely delivered and learned about our new 3 way battle in 2024! Can McLaren and Ferrari continue to challenge red bull in every race in 2024, and have the SF24 Evo Ferrari upgrades worked?

    Keeping lando out of DRS for the first few laps is what really won him the race! He’s incredible how he can manage to keep the car behind perfectly above a second out of DRS. Then after you’ve dumped battery and pushed hard he slowly extends the gap until it’s comfortable. The man is like a machine

      It looks like Aston-Martin learned their lesson in Miami, where they brought Stroll into the pits far too early, costing him points. This time they went the exact opposite, keeping him out as long as possible, in the hopes of a safety car. Fortunately, Stroll did an excellent job of managing the medium tyre, allowing him to exploit fresh hard tyres, when those just ahead of him were starting to degrade.
      Still, both cars were using different set-ups again, suggesting that the team doesn't have a good feel for how the car will perform at any given track. Stroll got lucky with the set-up this time. He's be bitten too many times by the split strategies and/or set-ups preferred by Aston-Martin. Alonso is typically given the set-up/strategy with the higher probability of success, which makes Stroll's performances appear worse than they actually are.

    @optyfen5276 22 дні тому

    Important to note that everyone has been simply saying that McLaren has been better on it's tyres because Lando was rapidly closing the gap at the end. However this is not the case, the problem as could already be understood vaguely from Max's radio "It's like driving on ice" obviously hints to no temperature rather than no tyres. Even in the interview Max said that it already started not so well on the hard tyre but that was not as visible, but with tyre wear increasing and the tread becoming thinner it became too cold and therefore the immense struggles the last 15 laps.

  • @ballerblocks
    @ballerblocks 23 дні тому +1

    The problem with formula 1 is not the car design but the track design, back in the days we had more tracks like Malaysia that were open and wide, now we have tracks that are street like in their design. This is why spa is highly rated because its sort of open and wide track, if only they moved to the old school tracks why driver could take different lines and preserve they tyres better.
    Nowadays we have one line of track.

    I think those last 10 laps were Max taking it to the NEXT...level! The Psy Ops Game! In an effeort to get the fans to stop complaining about Max winning every weekend? Sandbag the last ten laps, so we think it was a real close nail bighter, when in fact Max had all the performance and then some to keep Lando or anyone else for that matter from ever getting close enough to even try a long-shot move. Psy Ops! 😉

    One thing is clear with every upgrade cycle redbull goes backwards. In 30 years of watching f1 i have never seen a team go backwards this fast. But i can say that i have seen wache in full control before and this looks like a similar outcome. In 2017 redbull had the luxury of recalling newey from designing boats. But not this time. I wouldn't be surprised to see redbull back in 2nd or 3rd place within the next 18 months

    It's good for the sport if its actually a 3 teams fighting for wins.

    My Analysis of The Imola Grand Prix and the 2024 Season So Far
    Max had a tough weekend, the upgrades worked against Redbull,and he was unable to nail his setup which ultimatlely led to Redbull being the second fastest car behind Mclaren with Ferrari close behind (the gap between the three cars was less than 2 tenths)
    Then there was Checo severely underperforming in quali and having no pace in the Grand Prix.
    Ferrari and Mclaren are consistently performing well, at their current pace they can certainly get several wins and multiple podiums. This is also helped by the fact that unlike last year Merc and Aston Martin are not stealing points from Ferrari and Mclaren unlike last year.
    All in all, it was a bad weekend for Redbull but Max has once again proven why he is such a great driver, topping all sessions in quali and maintaing his position in the race despite being on the back foot during free practice and driving a worse car, his first stint where he kept Lando out of DRS and increased the gap helped him to maintain his lead in the second, worse stint.
    Also Lando would have found it hard to overtake Max after catching up, even with a faster pace it would have still taken him around 5 laps to pass him and then he would have had to defend from Max with DRS.
    As Murray Walker once said "Catching is one thing, but passing is quite another"
    To sum it all up, Max still has the Driver's Championship in his pocket (Unless he has 3 or more bad races or DNFs which i find hard to see happening in his current form) but the constructors chapionship is game on and we can look forward to a 3 way battle right to the end. Redbull might even end up in third if Checo continues to underperform.
    As for the driver's championship, i expect a good battle between Lando and Leclerc for second place with Checo ending up in 4th or 5th unless he steps up. If Redbull has ever needed Checo to step up, it is NOW.
    Final Note:
    There are two arguments that i have knowingly avoided in my analysis because i believe that both of them have minimal impact.
    1)Max being tired because of the 24 hr Nürburgring race because Max himself said that he had gotten 7 hours of sleep and was felling good during the drivers' parade before the race
    2)Hulkenberg gifting a free pole to Max, because even without Hulk if Max had not made a mistake on the final corner he would have still qualified on pole through sheer driving skill if he had had a perfect lap without mistakes like the Ferraris and Mclarens did. (The laps of Max and Lando have been accurately compared on the official F1 channel)

    Leclerc went off track too, and could never catch up after that. But amazing driver. Let’s put the Sainz comparison to rest.
    Max Should have been driver of the day. What else does he need to do?
    Lando is that guy. Did he save too much energy? Not really sure when you are allowed to use it tbf
    Yuki had the best overtakes, we need more daring drivers like him on the grid

    F1 tries to improve racing with constant car changes. They need to think outside the box and look at the tracks. For example, with Imola history being difficult to pass, if track changes was not possible, this could have been a “soft tire” only race. Imaging having some tracks with different rules.
