Daddy gotta buy that WC for Lancelot!
Aston need an indycar team to bin lance off to.
Their cars have windows too.
People reckoned that's the hypercar division is where he would be sent to.
RPM approves of this post 👍🏻
Lots of licking space.
NASCAR truck series would fit the Strolldozer
Window licking
I still don't understand why F1 media and social media are desperately hyping up the Newey and Ferrari union when Maranello already has Rory Byrne, the man who designed Ferrari F1 cars from 1996-2006. He was the Chief Designer of Ferrari and Schumacher's SuperTeam!!
Exactly. That and Enrico Cardile is doing a great job already AND is Italian.
@@LawVS I'm glad that you mentioned Byrne in the video, it's very sad how no one is noticing the great work Ferrari's design team have been doing since the ground effect cars were introduced in 2022.
New Era
I think the English speaking F1 media really REALLY wants Hamilton to get his 8th title, break Schumacher's record, and what's more, do that in a Ferrari. Ferrari fans also desperately want to end the title drought. And of course, all of this would end Verstappen's dominance, which everyone, including shareholders and commercial brands want. Verstappen's dominance is incredible, but from a commercial POV, he's boring. Hamilton, whether you love him or hate him, has a lot of commercial appeal. Anyway, yeah... All of this.
Very good point.
Adrian would always have more freedom to do all the side projects he likes to do at Aston Martin than at Ferrari. It was never about the money.
Getting back to his Valkyrie is a perk.
@@LawVS But Ferrari can provide him resources to build similar to Valkyrie things with lots of freedom too..
Plus to play role in LeMans too btw..
@@LawVS I believe Alonso is much more technically advanced than Lewis and would give much more feedback to Newey though..
So he's more interesting to work with for an engineer..
@@mopsless Aston is going to Le Mans next year.
@@mopslessAlonso had said he isn’t that technical. All he wants is a good front end and he’ll drive the car to its limit and beyond. Why do you think none of the cars Alonso had driven got better year after year
Adrian Newey and Fernando Alonso? Both GOATs of the F1? Damn that’d be a killer of a team!
Fernando may scoff in public, but his other comments certainly toward Newey.
@@LawVS Thing is AM is DOGSHIT with accountability, and Newey has been one for it. Stroll will drive him away even if they do bag Newey, and Lancelot will NOT be punted for anyone. Not even Newey.
@@HyperScorpio8688 Let’s hope he will be “transferred” towards AM Hypercar project.
@@elzeban That'd be a net positive to the sport, so it ain't happening...
If only, honda provides better engine for 2026.
As you said, I think one element of this story that gets lost in the wash is that joining a new team and building an amazing car doesn't happen overnight and isn't a guarantee. Newey built, what, nine cars at Red Bull during his time there that couldn't challenge for a championship? People are acting like whichever team Newey joins will immediately turn into gold dust. It takes time, the right driver, the right team in the right era of regulations.
That said, he clearly has the best overall record, and if Newey goes to Aston Martin, I think you'll be seeing a certain Dutchman in green the moment Alonso retires.
I reckon Newey is thinking about the regulations already and drawing stuff in his head or on a notepad somewhere.
Doesn’t help that the engines were crap during the turbo hybrid era
Thats all true, but even in the short term when he does switch over he’ll probably be able to make some changes that bring immediate improvements to the car. I’m just hoping with all the investment going into AM that they finally get rid of Lance. I can’t see Aramco and Honda bring happy to concede the constructors just so he gets to drive.
So Lawrence basically did the same as he did when he signed Fernando. Wait until there is an apparent stalemate and then swoop in with a proper deal, valid for a couple of days, take it or leave it. If all of this checks out, of course.
Potentially, yes. I reckon Ferrari doesn't need Adrian as much anymore since Cardile is doing well AND he is Italian AND he is a long-term Ferrari employee. Newey is great but if what Ferrari have ain't broke...
@@LawVS I hope Cardile can develop a legacy that can rival Fallows and Newey
The commute to Silverstone is also much more bearable.
He is a business man after all
@@dyingearth Milton Keynes to Silverstone - 21 miles
Newey’s first full RB car was the RB4 - which won a race with a Ferrari engine. The results were pretty instant.
The RB3 was the first car Newey had influence on, but yes, the RB4 is a factor too.
Pretty sure the rb4 had a Renault engine
More like an RB 3 with a Ferrari engine and called a Toro Rosso.
The RB3 is a terrible car to use as an example. The team didn’t even have the fabrication tools to implement Newey’s ideas yet at that time.
Adrian to Aston to get Alonso his 3rd championship would be insanity
The good kind.
If 3º championship would be insane, then imagine the 8º with Hamilton....
With Lance in a seat? There will be team orders :D
@@BruceKarrde how about Lance 1st championship?? Lmaoo
Don't kid yourself, all championships have been reserved for the time being untill Max retires. 🤣
He did not giggle when he said Mike Crack. We need a do-over
Interesting interview with Timo Glock lately. He said the issue with Toyota was they had great ideas that added big lap time, but if they fell into "grey areas" they shelved them. You need to exploit grey areas to win in F1. Toyota were too scared of being disqualified.
I've said he was going to Aston from the start. Gets to stay at home with the wife and gets to return to the Valkyrie... seemed like the right choice from the beginning.
I always thought he'd want to stay close to home as well. He seems more motivated by freedom than by money.
I said so too, as a long shot. In fact, I will quote myself:
"Papa stroll, if you want to do one thing right aside from hiring Fernando, you better snipe Newey with all of Lance's inheritance!"
I dont understand how anyone would want to spend their time and energy at the Lance Stroll team unless you are starving for cash
Lance is an inconsistent, mediocre at best driver but the AM team is very solid and Papa Stroll has invested lots of cash to develop infrastructure and hire talent so there is a lot of potential in the team.
If AM gets Newey, their driver line up will be Fernando and Max in 2026. AM has unlimited cash from Aramco and Honda engines. I don’t think Max trusts what Red Bull powertrains will have in their first year as an engine manufacturer
Aston Martin just makes more sense. Imagine dealing with Ferrari corporate politics at the twilight of your career. Plus, the expectations are lower in AM so less pressure and the Valkyrie being at Le Mans is a tremendous hook.
Aston has to bring two Valkyries due to regulations the ACO put on.
Fair enough, but they committed to it instead of delaying it to 2026.
hopefully we will see Yuki with Nando in 2026 with Honda + Newey, one can dream
Let Yuki go there as far I’m concerned.. put Yuki in a new car and it’s mostly likely gonna be P18 finishes with multiple spins and walls.
@@kiaya20 you could say the same about Max in 3 seasons, yet here we are, im not saying Yuki is as good as Max, but he certanly is good and could learn a lot from Nando
Gives Alonso another WDC! He deserves it :D
I’d be thrilled to just see him fighting for consistent podiums and possibly wins
Newey rumours aside. I find it really exciting to see more and more manufacturers getting into WEC.
I've been following that championship for a few years now and seeing cross pollination like this between the two series is, I think, great for motorsport in general.
4:23 well it looks like Cardile is moving to AM.
Aston Martin Red Bull Racing was a thing up until 4 years ago. He's made some friends there...
I love everyone calling Lawrence “papa stroll” 😂
Masako makes F1 content??
Hell yes!
fun Eddy Jordan fact he did a talk in a rehab in Devon England near Exeter i was at that rehab but the only speaker i got to meet was some strange perron talking about blueberry's
Another thing to mention, newey's key contribution to the current rb cars is the floor. And considering that the floor is the number 1 area with decreased downforce. I feel like aston would be the best option.
Even though there is no choice whatsoever but to love and admire Fernando Alonso (obviously not for his decision making prowess) because back in the day he was a worthy multiple world champion. He briefly left F1, returned and now being an elder statesman he remains equally world class and a fantastically gifted and skilled driver.
Personally he has a little extra respect because he not only owns, but actually is a bona-fide personality. As you pointed out, he’s a cheeky chappie. Intelligent, extremely witty, possessing a dry and often wildly sarcastic sense of humour.
I feel I must add though that he’s also mischievous and can be wilful. On occasion he could perhaps even be considered to be a “naughty boy.” When the will takes him he’s proved himself very adept and quite unusually gifted (almost female really) in the art of causing trouble in an empty house. I honestly believe he never has, nor ever will, allow any opinion, statement, nor the tiniest or seemingly irrelevant fact to “slip out” inadvertently. Not so much as a word comes out of his mouth without much prior thought.
At Ferrari you’re NOT going to be given the same freedoms as many other teams. It’s about THE TEAM. Ferrari already has its super special car designers… they’re not gonna let Newey build some side project with his name on it. At Aston he can have his cake and eat it too. Make an F1 car, work with Alonso, AND play with exotic car designs.
Yes please 😭😭 but my wet dream won't come true until Lance Stroll quits :( and bring Sainz. Won't happen, I know, I know. Hopefully this concretes and help Alonso to get the third title
People who know Adrian and Eddie personally have made it clear that Eddie isn't ACTUALLY his manager. He has a much more professional person for that, who prefers privacy so they just don't say who it is. Eddie does help with negotiations and such cause he is still a great business man, but he's not THE guy who runs Adrian Newey. They're just best pals that live near each other in cape town
Interesting. Newey referred to Jordan as "his close friend and manager". Sure, he could have a team of managers, but Eddie is part of them. A hypeman, probably keen to give his guy a good deal...as well as himself.
@@LawVS Eddie is taking the piss out of all of us. I'm telling you
This is what I want for Christmas this year
Andretti already has him signed and he’s working on an Indy car, NASCAR, a new gen 7 combat jet for the US Air Force, a new sub for the navy and cars for GM.😂
Just a little thing but WEC requires Hypercar entries to be two cars next year
Funny thing. When the rumors started I said Newey to AM would be more likely than Newey going Ferrari. For the same reasons. That was 2 months ago already. Know people finally start to understand.
if I was Newey I'd put a clause in the contract that for every year stroll drives his cars he gets an additional 5 million at the end of the deal
I like your perspective yet I have only one thing I wanna say; didn’t Mike krack go on the record a couple months ago saying that “Aston Martin are satisfied with their aero dept “( clearly not) and they aren’t going after newey. I remember this yet I’m not surprised if they do hire him though. Throwing money at issues is how Lawrence stroll does things so far it seems
Perhaps but things could easily change. A couple of months ago the team didn't look as lost as they do now.
I think Newey has made clear that he’s alsways really wanted to work with Alonso and the only hold off is Lance being given a seat he doesn’t deserve, and they seem to be softening to the idea of him stepping down
GET THIS MAN MORE SUBSCRIBERS!
If true , Factory tour is most likely an Eddie jordan ploy to pump up the ferrari Salary/ commission
Please check the screen credit: Mike Krack's words credited with Adrian Newey
You didn't snort at Mike Krack today, must have been deeply focused on the topic ;)
Law, I hear you about things taking time at RB till they hit success, but Ferrari isn't a brand new team like RB was...they are currently competitive. I don't think it'll take as long...
I don't expect Newey to work for Aston Martin. What does it say about Dan Fallows?
Good analysis, Law. Fits well with your earlier "a star driver becomes a member of Ferrari", not "Ferrari provides a car for the Star driver". Ferrari wants to win and be famed as a team, not just win and be famed because "they built a car by Star Designer". It's an subtle & important distinction and fundamental cornerstone of Ferrari culture, more power to them.
Plus, I've always thought Newey to AM was in the cards, there's the proximity, British heritage, and Valkyrie connection that make a straight line between them. Has me juiced to see 2026 now!
Was that “ i can’t believe eddie is newey manager” a diss cuz eddie has to be the best manager in the biz to get a contract for newey with no gardening.
Nope. Just he kept that quiet.
The new FIA 2026 rules implicates 2 challenges, first the active aerodynamics that involves 2 wings movement (front and rear), and second, the motor exra-power. So, the aerodynamics and engine will be the key. Newey will do the aerodynamics job, but what team will make the best engine? Ferrari and Mercedes are manufacturers, so when Newey said "there are 2 teams involved in the new rules", means he knows who are.
I don't know, surely Adrian just wants a break too?
Honda going to AMR would make it a more familiar working environment and he'll know what to expect from the engine layout I suppose. Plus, I don't think he wants to move to Italy.
I think the money is a not the key for Newey, the key is moving to a team with ultimate windtunnel structure (McLaren and Aston Martin) or moving to a team in order to obtain a historic achieve or a wish come true (Ferrari-Hamilton), so we will see what happen.
As unlikely as it sounds, i would love to see Newey at Williams, raising hell in F1 with something that nobody saw coming. Though it's probably just a fantasy.
Adrian’s manager has a certain attachment to Team Silverstone as well.
Adrian looks good now because RB campaigned for 10 yrs to change regulations to his liking. I think teams will be wasting money on him for the next regulations because he doesn't learn new things fast.
That's a fair assessment and why Ferrari not hiring him and instead keeping Cardile looks more than likely now. Fred's aware of who works for him so let Stroll splash the cash.
Rb have had the best chassis bar probably 2014. Every team would campaign for changes when the other team is dominating
So RB did manipulate the regulations in their favor… I knew it
@@mrsoisauce9017just like Mercedes did
@@agentagencja2799 and like Audi did (kind of)
My 2 cents: LH went to SF to make (more) money, for both. Newey saw this and turned away with an almost imperceptible face of disgust to never think about it again. IMO, AM was always the best option for Newey it make so much sense for many reasons that I won't detail here, It was literally my first idea the instant learnt about him leaving RB.
The issue, though, it's not who wants him, but who can afford him. He may be a bit too good, the problem is not that your team can't sign him, the problem is other teams signing him, but if no team made the deal, then there's no problem and it's just a RB lost, so everybody wins (except Irvine).
Remember how right I was last year about Alpine not being Renault racing team any and evermore?
Well, that throws a spanner in things
I only expect Aston Martin to get Newey because they are a car company he worked with back in the mid to late 2010’s. He wanted to make cars for a while now and he had his chance with Aston Martin as they were the car company RBR used to keep Newey in.
Oh man, just think about seeing a Newey Valkyrie.
Newey will never add another constructors to his if he goes to AM.
Instead he will be looking for ways to prevent Stroll from finding the wall
I sincerely hope his next rocketship sends LS off to outer space so that we don't have to see him again.
An exclusive ejection seat just for the car of the windowlicker
For safety reasons of course
There’s one thing that Aston can offer Newey that Ferrari can’t, EQUITY in the team. In addition to carte Blanche, make the team in his imagine.
I did say newey won't go to ferrari as he doesn't like Lewis.
Wec made a mandatory 2 car effort starting next year. It's not their ambition... just saying
Fair enough, didn't know that. Regardless, they could've delayed the plan to 2026 but didn't.
the salary from the top 3 or 5 (can’t remember which) highest paid personnel at a team doesn’t come out of the cost cap so that’s not something that should be a point of contention for considering Newey at a team
Fair enough. I got mixed up. Still a lot of money though.
I think Newey has said Alonso is one driver he regrets not having worked with in his book.
9:30 Cost Cap in my knowledge does not factor in the three most expensive staff members (iirc)
I thought it did cover them. If not my mistake.
It’s important to note that Aston are entering two cars due to new rules in WEC that require manufacturers to field two cars. They’re also running two Valkyries in IMSA as well!
Yes I realised that from the comments. Thank you! In any case, they are still committing to 2025.
13:51 Newey already replacing Krack
😂😂
I think a lot of people are forgetting that Newey is older than most of us. He doesn't want to pack up everything and move to Italy just to work with a team that will absolutely crush him under their intense bureaucracy. He wants freedom, he wants to be close to home. He appreciates Ferrari from afar, but isn't going to lose his freedom just to wear a red uniform.
Wherever he goes, Newey will be among the top 3 best paid staff. The top 3 best paid staff are excluded from the cost cap.
I honestly think that should be called the "Newey Rule."
Cost cap wouldn't be affected by signing newey since the technical director's salary doesn't count towards it.
I can't see anything in the Financial Regulations that says that. I was led to believe that the three highest paid employees were a factor.
@@LawVS I think that in some teams, tech dir is one of the three.
When BMW was with Williams, they were one of the top 3 teams and honestly should've won the title in 2003. When they allied with Sauber, within a few years they won a race, and their mistake then was to focus on 2009 badly when they might've fought for the title to the end of the season if they'd developed the 2008 car
Please shut down any Valkyrie theories immediately. Valkyrie has nothing to do with AM F1. Its a product between RB Advanced Technologies and Aston Martin Lagonda. There is no reason for Newey to visit AM F1 factory for anything related to this car, the car was developed in RB's wind tunnel and Newey literally has all the data in his drawer.
Also AM F1 is not going to be responsible for any WEC project involving the Brand Aston Martin - these Projects are run by US Team "The Heart of Racing" who already run the GT3 programme.
The new Hypercar regulation require the manufacture to run 2 cars at the minimum.
I really think Aston Martin is the better option for Newey. Winning with Ferrari is the ultimate F1 dream, but I don't think he wants to do 100% F1. There's so many things going on in that brain, at Aston he has his Valkyrie on track, an F1 team, continued cooperation with Honda, possible road cars to design and an ambitious owner who probably will pull his wallet if Newey decides to build a plane, boat or whatever is in that brain. A lot more freedom I think than he would get at Ferrari.
I remember Adrian gave an interview where he said he wanted to build a car for Alonzo. I weirdly thought that’s where he would go.
Yes and he also praised Alonso for always getting the best out of a car. So it's very possible that he wants to see what Alonso can do with a car designed by him.
I bet your ladder. That Adrian goes to Williams for 5% of Williams. Adrian got money but to part of a team is something money is finding hard to buy . 👍🙏
Love your stuff, you and one other I follow for F1. I have a question. To preface I am neutral when it comes to Alpine. Are they competitive or are their drivers super good? I mean you make it seem like the car is a bucket...
It's not the best car and it's got no upgrades coming anytime soon. It's just working quite well for Spain which shows hope. It needs to lose weight and gain some speed.
Thank you for the reply and actually reading and responding! You rock. I am compelled to get a ladder package you mentioned in another video! Keep posting your insights are awesome.
The top 3 salary employees and driver salaries don’t count against the cost cap. So paying $50 million to Newey won’t affect the budget, but just Lawrence Stroll’s pockets.
Newey could be a boost to Aston's F1 and WEC team. 🤔
I fell out of the loop for a little while, what happened with Aston Martin and money problems? Did Aramco get part ownership of the team?
Newey is going to take a break and wait for the final 2026 regulations before deciding if he wants to come back. That is what I think based on what Newey himself has said.
Yes. That's what he is doing now aside from the finishing touches of the RB17.
Toto leaking the Lewis news makes no sense. Anyway, it’s unlikely AN will be named TP at any team he goes to since I doubt he wants that much of a workload.
Fernando Sigmalonso will continue to grace us with his presence in Formula 1 for at least the next three years. As for the Window Licker? He's just occupying a seat that should be getting ready for Yuki Tsunoda, as Yuki is actually the Honda driver that has come with the Honda engine program all this time. How much longer can this nepotism continue? I can't believe it's dragged on this long, tbh. 😆
I've always had my doubts about Newey going to Ferrari, reportedly he hates internal politics, & what is Ferrari notorious for?
Newey to Team Stroll would be SUCH a waste
why is newey to mercedes not being talked about?
You're unfortunately getting progressively closer to unfounded clickbait hyper-bollocks, recently.
i pray for your deliverance
Isnt AMR having some issues with the wind tunnel? If so, will that negate having Newey on board with the team?
With their current one, their new one has not come online yet.
Looking for property in Italy clearly means he's going to Haas
2026 will be really spicy. It will be more engine than aero with the new rules. Merc is rumoured to get it right out of the gate. So will we see a Ferrari vs Mercedes again like Lewis vs Vettel again?
OMG LEWIS BOUGHT WILLIAMS!!!! ...meh ok its just an overwhelming wtf moment but hey...you can document this one lol :) luv ya work btw
Idk, another channel said that the deal with Ferrari had already been signed a few weeks ago. A rumor anyway.
It would be just such a nice story for him to go to Ferrari. There are plenty of ups to living in Italy.
Listening to him saying about his father after he retired and stopped working, there is no way he wants to end up doing the same. Not a chance.
He'll never stop designing and building things or racing things. He'll just be able to do it at his own pace.
I’d be cautious in taking any of these rumors seriously. $50m per season wouldn’t surprise me even mildly. I’m betting 95% of that “combined driver salary total” = Alonso.
I do state them as rumours but Alonso is being his usual cryptically trollish self in being coy
@@LawVSYeah, Alonso did the opposite of deny they’re courting Newey. He just said don’t trust the rumor mill and pointed to/mocked the story that said a deal with Ferrari would be announced before 12 PM on Saturday at the Canadian GP.
@@LawVSAnyway, I agree with all the reasons why you said AM makes the most sense and have thought the same forever. The only thing Ferrari has going for it in terms of Newey is that people always seem to want that association in their legacy.
Newey to Aston! It makes so much sense I knew it!
If all 14.431 of us who have watched this video so far all chipped in like 50$ each we could send it to Williams to at least make a down payment on the interest for signing him.
please please yes, EL PLAN is going on. Newey and Honda at Aston could really turn them to the green better Red bull with ALONSO together. Lets goo!
i still hope he goes to williams!
no...don't give me hopes
Red Bull, when Newey got there, were extremely slow, which is why it took him so long. When he arrived at Williams, first designing the FW14, the Williams team was arguably third-best, but far behind McLaren and Ferrari, but they were far closer than Red Bull and so his first car was the fastest car of that season. McLaren were again third-best in 1997, with competition from Benetton (and Prost), but his first car there too won both titles. Ferrari is currently second-best
If Adrian Newey wants a stable work environment, there is no way in hell he would/should work for Ferrari... The Italian media, the Tifosi, and Ferrari management are anything, but stable entities.
33 and 3 ARE COMING....VAAAAMOS FERNANDO CARAJO....
Would be awesome to see, but as long as Lance still has a job, I cannot take Aston serious.
this seems interesting
After all this , If AN changes his mind, and stays at RB, it will be the ultimate Trojan Horse
