Hello So&So crew. It's a nice idea to make your own foams rather than being robbed blind by someone who has basically just done the same thing. My personal opinion about the Lunchbox is not to use foams. I think that foams are good for trucks with decent suspension that can go around corners. Neither of these things is true of the lunchbox and the squashiness of the tyres makes up for the rubbish suspension. Just my opinion and I haven't actually tried foams in mine. Anyway best wishes to you guys 😁

Not convinced either way so far, I think I need a front knuckle upgrade on this one, but if I’m doing that I may end up replacing the arms as well. Triggers broom springs to mind 🃏🐴

@@RCsoandso oh yeah there are a lot of Tigger's broom RC's on UA-cam. A lot of Tamiya fans end up with an RC that is about 20% Tamiya. With the front wheels I put glue gun glue or Abro Steel around the centre part as it always breaks out on these. Anyway I'm sure you'll let us know how the foams go 😁

Good idea for the lunchie! Interested to see if you think there is any improvement in drive? I am planning a Midnight Pumpkin build for the future and might add these to the tyres. 👍🏻

I think they are ok, further testing is needed, but once you have the first one cut it is easy going after that. Good luck with the Pumpkin, be good to get it ready for Halloween 🎃

@@RCsoandso still waiting on parts unfortunately! Things are so slow here in the UK at the moment. Look forward to seeing some more testing from your mods.

@@RCsoandso man that is tough! Sounds like it is going to get worse before it gets better too. At least the RC bashing slows down over the winter 😂 Keep up the great videos 👏🏻🙌🏻

Great idea and from the Range too. Having left my Lunchbox in storage for 25+years a couple of them have got flat spots so will try this to see if it will help even the tyre out. I have some new replacements if it doesn't work. Is that the thickest foam they do? I have a Marui big bear with the same problem and the tyres are bigger.

They did have a thicker foam, wasn’t much more in price, pence more than pounds. You could also double up the type I had as the length would easily cover the extra diameter 📏👍

Nice video! No link for the foam?

Thanks for watching. I didn’t put a link as the shop didn’t have it on the website but it’s only multi-purpose foam, most DIY shops carry it and it’s always super cheap 👍

That was a cook idea but I think the foam could move around because of the seam.

It seems ok so far as the edges meet well, but to be brutally honest I’ve not noticed any performance changes with or without them 🤔👍

Has anyone ever thought of sealing the tyres on the rim and gently inflating them? One would need to make up a little valve, but I think that should be doable.

They do have little holes in the rims so they would need to be plugged. Be interesting to see it done I’d imagine, maybe internal rubber rings like bike tires could be best? 🤔👍

@RCsoandso that might need a bit of trial and error. Depending on where the holes are located, maybe a ring cut from an inner tube from a bicycle could fit snug enough to cover these holes. This would probably serve as makeshift valves. Of course, the tyres would have to be sealed to the rims by some kind of mild glue or perhaps just some strong double sided tape. After all, this doesn't need to keep its pressure for months. A day or two would be enough.

Maybe those air bags they use for packaging could help 🤔

I did run it last weekend, the front left wheel seems to have a wobble, so I will take it off to make sure the foam is flat, but it might be that the knuckle is bent, from an impact, further tinkering is required!
