- Hey Horse Lovers! Today while we were riding at Fort Custer in Augusta, MI something nerve wracking happened. We overall had a good day, but this could have been a horrible situation. This video is a good reminder that issues can occur on the trail, and you never know what can happen. Enjoy the ride! 🔔 IF YOU ENJOY MY CONTENT SUBSCRIBE.
HORSES WE BROUGHT: JIMINEY, BAGHEERA, MEEKO, ARLO
🦄🤩💖BAGHEERA:
Bagheera is a 26 year old Morgan/Standardbred X. She was an Amish driving horse before coming to the auction where I purchased her . She was only driving horse, and then I retrained her for under saddle pleasure riding.

Bagheera is a very good girl-- she thought " Where is everybody??" And came back looking for you! I am glad you did not yell at her- you don't yell at animals, ever-- that is why she came right back. She trusts you.
Yes! Thank you. I’m so glad she did ❤️
With all animals, no matter how well they are trained, always expect the unexpected. And always, always carry some sort of tack repair kit . Shea, it sounded like you had something with you, as I would expect, I'm talking to those who just jump on a horse and go. You need to be prepared for any emergency.
@@nancysouder5111.Yup, So are we! 😊😅
🎉😊
I actually am part of a search and rescue team here in Michigan. We have had several call outs for missing horses and riders . We even had one last week. Luckily all with a good outcome. It is easy to get lost on some of these trails. Glad everything worked out and everyone is safe. Have fun!
That’s awesome! I’ve wanted to get certified in mounted patrol just haven’t had time. I’m glad all of your calls turned out well!
I see that you have a number of horses to look after but it must cost a lot of money to feed them and get checked over my a Vet? I have enjoyed watching all of your videos very much 😊
Owning horses and caring for their well being is never cheap. I wish I could just own one!
Hiiiiii 🎉
We own land next to large urban area. The town posts it for us. One day walking, listening to nature I heard a ring tone, very close, then dead silence, so terrified I couldn't see. Nothing came of it but obviously someone was hiding a few feet away.
I was taught, by people with trail riding experience, so many valuable preventatives that I never would have thought of myself. Of course these were veterans of the longer rides. You were on a short ride and you handled it very well. Plus you were just so blessed in every way in how it turned out. I get the feeling that you are very lucky lady. But, for the unlucky riders out there, I just wanted to share some of the things I was taught, if ever you are a viewer go on a longer ride. Always carry saddle bags and have a few medical supplies in it. (For ex.- A menstrual pad and duct tape work well to temporarily bandage a cut on the leg.). Plus duct tape will fix many tack problems temporarily. Always roll your halter and lead rope up, and tie to back of saddle. Then if you tie your horse up, you won't have to worry about breaking the bridle. Plus if your bridle breaks, you at least have a way to control the horse. Wire cutters, tubes of antibacterial medicine, etc. Water bottles and snacks, in case you get lost. And always remember that every part of the pine tree is edible. So get familiar with how to eat it....worse case scenario, of course. I know I got a little carried away, but it really does pay to think ahead about worse case scenarios. I am so thankful for all the wisdom passed down to me, and I felt this situation might get others thinking about it also. If you ever are out of ideas for a video, would you consider giving pointers on being ready for the worst at horse shows, trail rides. What do you carry in your truck and trailer for preventative and emergency care. I think this would help many horse people.
Yes! We bring all of this if we are going on longer trail rides or areas we aren’t familiar.
I'm not a horse rider, but I just love learning about animals. All that you shared about safety, for me, reminded me of camping. So, thank you. If I ever get lost here in Idaho, pine trees are a life saver? I'm going to share THAT with my grandson. ❤
Enjoyed.these trips. Thank you very much. ❤
Hubby to the rescue 💝!
Always ❤️
I like watching Bagheera's ears on the trail ride. And glad everything turned out OK.
What amazes me Shea, is that no matter what, you are always spot on with your lipstick! I'm surprised your horses aren't covered in lip prints! 😉
Thank you so much!
You love your horses so if lip stick smootches show up on them , then so be it lol @@freespiritequestrian
💄💋💋💋💋💋💋🏇
Beautiful !
Dear Shae, since I only started watching 9 months ago, I have been doing a little back-filling on your journey and can appreciate how smooth/fast Ms. Bagheera really is here, What a special girl she is, and returned to you. Though, before my following you, I can see Meeko was a very sweet, and pretty boy, too. The trail is gorgeous!
Her trot is amazing, so glad she is wirh you. Perhaps a little saddle bag with a halter, 1st aid kit, clips and some string for emergencies might be an idea. You could even take candy!
It was amazing! Normally I have one lol
Great idea! Caramel for horses!
Thank you so much for taking your viewers on such a beautiful adventure. 🐎 Michigan is truly a unique state. 🌻
It has a lot to offer for us equestrians!
@@freespiritequestrian yes it does! I absolutely love living here because it just such a lovely state
Shea, I love that you always stay focused and reassure everyone that you're not mad....just concerned! I'm glad that this "blooper" situation was resolved so seamlessly.... You are so fortunate to have Kyle as your partner~ he is so handy at patching things up !
.... I am old, with all the issues that accompany that, so it was really nice to go along on your ride vicariously.... The way you filmed, I felt I was on the horse, enjoying the smoothest ride ever. : )))))
I actually had a really good time and enjoyed the scenery !
Thanks for sharing !
I had an ex-Amish horse - buggy mode was amazing! She was such a star on trails, too - she would do anything you asked. I remember one of the first trail rides I did I ducked to go under a dead branch and it snagged in my shirt and broke off and stuck there, so we were riding along with me trailing this long dead branch from my back, across her rump and down to the ground. And she just kept walking. We fell in a pond once and she just swam us out and then snorted at me as if to say "what stupid decision my human made! We don't belong in the pond!"
Glad your whoops! turned out all right!
This video brought tears to my eyes! I felt like I was on that horse cantering down the trails as I did when I was a young girl! How I love the “sounds “of riding! It was just wonderful. Thank heavens there were no people or horses injured or lost in the incident! What a glorious ride❤️
So grateful things weren’t worse … but yes scary and quite the adrenaline rush.. thank goodness you are a calm person and fast thinking and acting.. really happy there were no serious injuries.. and everyone rebounded and continued with your trail ride.. 🙂♥️
Same! It could have been terrible but luckily everything was okay. ❤️
Loved the video today Shea.....especially riding with you on Bagheera with only your voice or the sounds of horse & saddle was awesome....Her ears were working it on being the lead horse. Thanks for another great video...
It was peaceful, minus the one part 😂😂😂
thank you for the beautiful trail ride so glad you are safe and everyone else. I appreciate your honesty and openess
Thank you 😊
Its so relaxing getting to 'ride along' with you. I haven't ridden in 20 years and these types of video remind me how much i used to love to ride.
❤️❤️❤️
That was a nice horse trail. Very quiet & a nice well- kept path.
Yes it was lovely.
Phew!
So glad that everyone is OK.
I seriously thought that a 🐻bear was going to jump out at you 😢😢
No bears haha
That turned out really considering what could have happened! So glad all horses and all people were unharmed.
Bagheera’s mane is beautiful!
Jiminy was the only one who didn't get the bad luck 😂 I am glad everyone is ok tho ❤
Shae, Bagheera cracks me up! She is just like a little locomotive the way she chugs along, building up steam so she can go faster! I know you were a bit afraid for her, but it came out OK. With your title I was afraid there had been a poisonous snake on the trail. Thanks for taking us along for the fun! Wahoo! 🤠🐎💥
Like that figure of speech for Bagheera, she loves to go go go 🐎
She really is!!!! I love her. I’m so glad she came back to us. I was absolutely terrified something might happen to my sweet girl.
Its a wonderful way to see the bush, through the ears of a little black horse.
This makes me miss my days of trail riding. I wish I could get back into it. Thanks for bringing us along though!
Love to watch Bagheera's ears when she is trotting fast and when
She canters. She's a great leader!!😍❤❤❤
Wow! That must have been really scary! But you stayed calm which is great. I am glad that everyone is safe. I hope Miko is doing okay. I also enjoyed the nature sounds. So relaxing.😀
I am sorry you all had to go through that “adventure”. Could see in your face the adrenaline and trying to replay everything in your head. Just a big hug to you 🤗🌻 Another memoir for the journal and thankful everyone is safe and able to clean up with a little skin care cream.
I could hardly even speak 😂. Thank you 😊
horses are awesome I love your mare how her little ears are looking every where to make sure she alert for anything
She’s the best!
I used to ride but not anymore due to health reasons so to imagine riding with you guys on these videos does my heart good
That was wild! Glad everything turned out ok.
Totally crazy!
Glad your all safe. Least it wasn't raining . Great Videos. 👍 Good. Education. Your a great. Teacher. ❤ gorgeous 😍
Thank you, I appreciate that!
Bagheera is like "what's the big deal?" But seriously such a great learning experience for your students. Things can happen, gotta always be paying attention and sometimes need to be resourceful. Well done.
Goodness, what an adventure. Glad everyone is OK. When you are in a fast trot on Bagheera, are you posting or in a 2 point? Would love to see her at a gallop! There is no way she is 25!! Thank you for taking us along. Fun, fun!
It totally was!!! She’s 26 now lol! I have a video of her galloping on our camping trip. I was posting her fast trot 🐎🐎🐎💕💕💕.
@@freespiritequestrian thanks! I will look at that video again. ❤️
You can tell your horses are well conditioned. Bagheera could do endurance trail competition, she's tuned in & loves it.
Awww thanks! Yes she really is ❤️
Bagheera is such a great trail horse, looks like she can trot all day!
She really could! :)
So glad that everyone and the horses are ok. Bagheera is such a good girl, looked like she was coming back to look for you. Happy that everyone still had a good time after your scary adventure.
It's good that you are such a good rider that you were able to catch up with her. Glad you all were safe
Thanks so much for sharing. I used to Trail ride like this , so it makes me a little heartsick. Nothing better on earth than being with your horse on a mountain trail.
I could feel Bagheera’s energy in my bones. Let’s go🐎 I’m so happy nothing happened to her. She’s beautiful ( all of them are). I never wore a helmet riding. (Old school)I was running with my mare Midnight Lady & all of a sudden my saddle slips to the side & I see the road flashing by. She stopped like a good girl. Eventually 😬. When I saw your hubby that’s the first thing that flashed in my mind.
Oh goodness that’s wild! Yeah, it was an interesting incident but I’m glad it was short lived and all condensed into one sh*t show hahaha. Thank you for watching 😀
@@freespiritequestrian you can always laugh about it later when the adrenaline dies down. Its very different if someone or a horse gets hurt/lost. Happy you & your fur babies, your hubby & the girls were all fine🤓❤️
I was always so crazy about horses ! When I was about 6 years old in 1954, my aunt gave me an old western saddle that used to be her sons. My mom would put it on the bottom of the bannister, going up the stairs, I would put my dads belt around the bannister and it was my reins! I loved the sounds of the saddle! I rode that bannister for hours! I had not thought of that in years. I thought you might enjoy my story! Thanks for giving me so much pleasure!
So glad everyone is OK. Thanks for taking us along on the trail riding adventure.
Same!! Thank you 😊
It’s so relaxing just hearing the horses trot and gallop I love it😊
❤️
Loved watching this ride, it made me feel as though I was riding with you! What an awesome area. Poor Meeko, gets a boo-boo for trying to find Bagheera. At least you know that she won’t go too far if this ever happens again.
I’m glad you liked it! Meeko is okay, thankfully! It was so scary in the moment.
I find it very peaceful to watch these rides of yours. In this case, I was worrying the whole time, though, waiting for a Bigfoot or something to suddenly jump out from between the trees! Glad it all worked out.
😂😂😂. Overall it was a wonderful day!
I’m glad all the horses and the riders are OK that must’ve been a little nerve-racking for you guys
Yes it wasn’t thank you.
That area looks like some of the bridal paths in England. It's beautiful! Bagheera must have Morgan in her. I have 2 Morgans and a Morab, and they're trotters. What an adventure! I'm glad you were able to finish the ride and have a great time.
What beautiful trails you are fortunate to have so many great places to ride. Thanks for sharing!
Good work on saving the ride. Murphey's Law is never far away, even in the fun world of trail riding. Well done on recovering the horse. Love your channel.
Love that! Thank you 😊
Whoa!!! Bagheera is a speed demon. That was an amazing ride. How long did it take you to do the whole thing? It’s a beautiful trail. Glad that no horses or human were hurt or lost in the making of this video.😁👍♥️
She was a Trail Blazer for sure! We rode for 3 hours and probably did 15-17 miles ❤️.
Wow!! You guys really put the miles on. I use to be in a trail riding club and we would do competitive trailing. It’s fun and you get to do what you love and compete at the same time. 😁👍
Omg 😆 that was officially scary 😦 I love your vids💕💚 Horses are one of my favourite’s THANK YOU FOR POSTING YOIR VIS LOVE IT SO SO MUCH💕💕🥰
It really was! Thank you 😊
The view of Baghera's main and neck is stunning. She takes direction so well and her ears never stop tuning in on her surroundings. You are so blessed to be able to choose such wonderful animals and train them with love and respect. I'm unfortunately highly allergic. I can't walk near one or touch it. So thank you for this video that let's me ride along with you though I'll never accomplish it in person. Love the lighter lipstick you showed while you rode Beauty bitless for the first time. A job well done. Thank you.😊
Amazing ride! Even with the hiccups! Thank you for taking us along...absolutely beautiful 😍
The trails you have near home and other places you trail ride are wonderful.
Glad Bagheera loves you and was happy to see you.
I love your horse! She’s my kind of forward going horse, plus beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing
Whoa, you kept it real ❣️ my heart was racing.
🌷 Grateful for the journey
Love love love this. I wish I was there on a horse. Thanks for making it feel so real
Awww you’re welcome ☺️
What a lovely ride, y'all are so blessed by such beautiful horses and land.
So happy 😊 all were safe.
❤️❤️❤️
I am happy it turned out well! Her ears going back and forth shows how she listens to you intently!
What a beautiful area to trail ride, and thank goodness you have well trained horses that dont panic a runway uncatchable, I always carry in my saddle bag, extra rope halter, lead rope. Screw driver, extra biteless bridle ,reins, and first aide kit, leg wraps, its alot but weve used most of it on the trails for emergencies. I love 💘 your videos
Yes! It was crazy. Thank you 😊
You handled that so well, I'm happy everything worked out in the end!
WoW that was crazy! Glad it all turned out good! Begheera is more forward than I had thought, she’s amazing for a 26 year old!
Same! It was wild. She is a speed demon!
Oh my gosh, that was scary! I'm glad everyone is okay and you found Bagheera so fast. She is such an outstanding mare and it is amazing how much she enjoys trail rides, her ears are going in all directions, always rotating back to you for a second, so she can listen. She has a wonderful home with you and I am happy that you decided to keep her and not have her move again at her age. And for her age, she is just phenomenal, hof forward, open and happy to learn new things, she is. Your other horses are awesome as well and it is always a treat to see you spend time with your students, husband and friends on trail rides.
Thank you so much. This means a lot!
Yes, Bagheera has the most expressive ears ever. I can watch them all day.
Great ride! Love those trails, so glad you all came back safely... scary moments for a bit.
Thank you! Yes, it was a bit crazy there for awhile. Lol
im so glad that you found Bagheera!
Same here! She’s a true Diamond 💎 in the rough.
Glad everything got resolved ❤️😁👍
Oh my biscuits! That's crazy how she just troting away like that I'm so happy ya'll are safe now! So we were ridding just walking after our trot and my friends horse that she was ridding spooked and my friend fell off and he canter away but we got him safe and sound but it's a big thing horses do these things that are crazy but we have to be careful and know that sometimes they spooked. Love ya'll ❤ hope Mikos nose is healed.
God loves you! ❤
Yes for sure! She didn’t spook or anything she just was bored and started walking and then decided to go for a stroll and give me a panic attack haha. Meeko’s nose was just a surface scrape thankfully! ❤️
Bagheera likes to move on out for sure. A great ride, folks. Wish I were there, too. Thanks for video! 💕 🤗 💕😊
I love her ears catching every sound!!and that was scary!!im glad everything worked out!!
They are so cute with their noses poking out of the window ready for the day's adventure. The horses look fantastic and are a testament to your excellent care & understanding of their rehab needs. Your channel shows how horses can be fit, rideable, beautiful and happy well into their golden years. 😍
It just crossed my mind that my riding instructor just did something similar. With a shortage of horses under 5 figures in San Diego & needing another lesson horse, she bought an 17 year old OTTB with protruding bones, no tone & little understanding of the rider's aids. After several months he's doing & looking so much better & is such a darling boy. Everybody loves him & it's amazing to ride him as he's continually transforming.
Thank you! Wow that’s an amazing story and transformation. Thanks for sharing. It can be a lot of work and risk when it comes to buying prospects but it’s completely worth it in the end. ❤️
What an experience! So glad all is well ! 😮
Great job taking care of everyone! Felt I was right there with you!
What a great ride you took us on.. thank you !
Beautiful ride! Some very tense moments but all is well thank God!❤❤
Enjoyed the ride with y’all!! I’ve always loved horses!! Glad everyone is ok!!
Thank you! I was happy it all worked out.
So glad everything turned out ok.
I’m so glad everything worked out❤
Bagheera is a great horse. I love how she likes to go, is sound and happy. She is lucky she is yours. Her tail is so long and beautiful.
I am so glad no one was hurt but also that you didn’t lose your sweet baby.
Yes you are 100% right. Stuff can always happen when you're on a horse and riding. No matter what you're doing. I think you handled it so perfectly. I would be so scary and I would be so worried but you found her everything was good and you guys finished out your ride and had a good rest of your day. Thank goodness You did a great job Shae..❤ and it sounds like she came right to you so she knew what to do. She loves you!..
So glad your all ok. Your amazing, horses are amazing, horsemanship is amazing, video is amazing xxx
Thank you!
Glad all you guys are nice and safe. I always think when these type of things happen that these type of things happen!! 🤩🤩🙀🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thank you! It was something lol 😂
Boy! that's a fast trot. Wow. Love it. Omgoodness! I'm glad you got her back. I always enjoy the trail ride. Watching your horses's mane going up and down, Thank you for taking me for a ride - I thoroughly enjoyed it.
She’s so fun! It was an exciting day haha.
Watched replay. Scary!
Wow! Scary moment! So glad for the happy ending.
Early! I love your videos and I really want to trail ride after I watched your trail riding videos lol. I haven’t trail ridden in awhile. Your horses are so pretty!
Thank you! I love the trails so much.
Your horses hair looks so smooth❤ and she’s very nice colour🎉😊
Great trails! I’m watching you trot those trails and wish my confidence was better. Watching you has helped me realize that I can do it again myself. I’m 66 and have only walked my horse for over 10 years.
Wow you are so awsome, you handled that situation perfectly, I would love to take riding lessons from you guys, you make the art of horse look easy, and your level of knowledge is breathtaking, stay safe out on those trails
Thank you! It was a crazy experience.
I just started watching this channel yesterday I did I horse camp this week and learn a lot about horses and I learned to ride one I'm happy u had fun on ur trail ride!😁
Always make sure our horse ride double. So glad this turned out great.
Super Great Time !!!
I love the view when your leading and looking forward. Gives me the feeling that I am riding your horse
Awesome!
Thanks for the ride, enjoyed the greenery and your beautiful horses!
Yay awesome!
So many questions. Glad everything turned out ok.
❤️
Bahaha Bagherras face....she's like "weeellll I thought it was time to go...so I went 🤷"
Literally exactly what happened 😂😂😂
~🌸Thank You🌸~ for another awesome trail ride. I’m living my fantasy at 73. Love and Hugs to you and your family.
At one point I just decided to close my eyes and listen to the horses moving. Thank you
❤️❤️❤️
Aside from the heart stopping moments - looked like a great day out. And no horses or humans badly injured!!
It was lovely after that drama! Lol 😂
God Bless everything turned out good love the videos keep them coming♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Another wonderful and true in every sense "adventure". Such gorgeous babies and scenery.
Yes! Thank you 😊
I have to ask this insane question. Is there EVER a time you don't look like you stepped off the front of a magazine? Seriously Shae, I don't care what you've been doing you always look great. I, on the other hand do NOT LMBO
Your unfortunate incident reminded me of a time I was riding on logging trails in Washington state and my horse stepped on a snake on the trail. Wow, what a ride down the mountain that was. I love your videos and how you give such wise instruction while making it fun and enjoyable to watch. Thanks!
Wow! What a crazy ride 😬 so glad everyone was ok. Life sure is an adventure isnt it 😅
