- Hey Horse Lovers! It's my Birthday Weekend so we set out on a horseback riding & camping adventure in Hocking Hills, Ohio. Join us for some epic trail riding with a lot of excitement along the way. On this trip I brought Arlo & Cruella and I'm riding with my husband Kyle. Wow, what a great place. I discovered on my heart horse his happy place was on trail, the more difficult the happier he was. I even had someone offer me big $$, man said he had been watching my horse for 2 weeks. I had to disappoint him,my horse wasnt for sale. Loved the terrain, mountains, measows, massive boulders, wild life. Great training area.
Thank you both for taking me and all the other horse lovers on a spectacular trail ride in Ohio. SO exciting and ,for those of us who may not be able to ride anymore, you all made my day I will be watching this clip many more Times! Carol former horse owner and a forever horse lover.

Chlorella is only trying to keep you safe. She hear your voice and she already know that the Storm is near. She calls out for the Others Horse behind her and she have a Problem on the left Leg because of the hurry and the Mud. Happy Birthday 🎉
Beautiful! I miss Ohio… that is where I grew up with my Appaloosa Mingo. My favorite thing about your channel and YOU is that you give your horses.. and dog.. their best life… trips away from the arena. They are happy, healthy, and well balanced. You and your Husband are amazing 🙌♥♥♥

I might be wrong but I think when you first got Cruella you mentioned that the only thing you knew about her was that she was a bit of a ranch pony? All I could think about watching her confidence and intelligence in challenging terrain was whoever sent her to auction really made a huge mistake. But their mistake was your blessing! Happy birthday and remember--you're not 31. You're 29 with two years of experience! :D
That was Wesel & Olaf that you’re thinking of :). Cruella used to be a speed pony but was given no foundation before running, so she was “ruined”. Super sad, and it’s taken several months to get her to understand she doesn’t have to race around. Trail riding is definitely her thing! Thank you so much ❤️.
@@freespiritequestrian Ah--so sadly her previous owners were not very bright from stem to stern. :( But look at her now! She is very very far from "ruined"!! BTW I watched this while working on my horse sculpture lol!
I don't think anybody else could have said it better than your post thank you it's the truth I think that's the most intelligent most smart probably the most beautiful demeanor I've ever seen in a horse and yes whoever did send her to auction was definitely the one to lose and that's okay because she wins we win we all win sorry for the guy who put her up for auction but we thank you because she was saved by the best person and your comment is 100% true

A hurricane just hit, so I can’t see my mare. My mare is my best friend in the whole world, so I miss her to death…. Your videos are really helping me. I’ve only had my mare for about 8 months, and she has transformed so much. At first, she was a crazy, OTTB, now, she’s a calm mare, who lets me ride her up to her pasture in only a halter.

Happy Birthday, Shea! Cruella cracks me up. If I was 50 years younger, you would have me trying to out-bid everybody else when it came time to sell her. Her personality reminds me of my own. Arlo's longer legs are no match for Cruella's gumption. But Arlo is an angel, too. Hugs 🤠💟

What gorgeous country to ride in! I’ve never heard of horse camps before, I don’t think we have them in Australia. This one certainly is well set up. Thank you for taking us along on your adventure - I’m unable to ride anymore so this is the next best thing 😊

Haven’t watched the video yet but it already sounds so fun!!! I live in Ohio and I was just at 4h camp in the hocking hills area it’s gorgeous I want to take my pali there sometime to go on the trails!

❤ I just wanted to say I think this is one of the smartest most intelligent the best demeanor a horse that pays attention whoever did put her in auction we all thank you and may have been hard for you but you blessed free spirit equestrian with this beautiful gem her owner will take the best care of her ever free spirit equestrian is the best places a horse could go to I have watched a lot of horses come in a lot of horses go they come in broken but they leave a diamond thank you for this video I needed it I was having a really bad morning and I watched it I cried I smiled I laughed I was impressed couldn't believe my eyes at such a beautiful animal somebody could just get rid of and I'm not saying in a bad way they may be just couldn't afford it but thank you for your spirit equestrian for doing what you do do God bless you in all of your adventures you are one of the most smartest intelligent you take chances and steps and you always come out on top you're the best horse owner I have ever seen on any platform❤❤❤❤

Would be my dream to ride a trail that is this beautiful but I have very little fitness and havent ridden for 24 years. I also have mental health issues ...just pray to GOD that one day this dream will be possible. Would give me the encouragement to try and get fit again. Will trust GOD to get me to the point when I can do a trail ride

You are the same as me…love a forward horse. She really likes to lead and keep up the pace. My heart horse.. java looked like , hafar and was very forward. I’m 84 now and not riding, miss it every day.❤
I’ve done trail rides there too. Seen Indian Head, rode through Moonville tunnel, taken a break at Bucks which looks like a western saloon in the woods. One of the creeks has a refreshing stone spring fed fountain. Sometimes the horses join us for a sip and drink out of the fountain too, great times.
Hockinh Hills’s facility is the best. Cruella is a natural-born trail horse. How fun to ride. Is she shod or does she go shoeless?

There are so many trails in Maine where I live; old logging tote roads and many many snowmobile trails we used to trail ride with our horses in the summer. I agree with you that trail riding really trains a horse. Our horses were bomb proof. I don't agree with some of the training I see people putting their horses through. To me training a horse to go across a tarp is dangerous. What is under that tarp? Out on the trail I want my horses to pick their footing. I would not allow my horses to go on a wooden bridge without me checking it out first. These are some of the things people should think about in training horses for trail riding; it could mean their life and or the life of their horse. I wish I could ride with you; brought back a lot of memories. Thanks for the video!
I went to Ohio Univesity! Called ourselves Harvard on the Hocking. I rode those trails 1982-84. Thx for the great trip down memory lane ❤

Scary storm, but so much fun! I have been to Hocking Hills, as a young teenager. Most people don't think of this type of landscape when they think of Ohio. I was born in Ohio but haven't lived there in a long time. (In New England now) I love your adventures, the horses (of course), and your uplifting, positive spirit. 🐴❤

So glad you had a great birthday. That was really cool. I have never been to a camp like that. The only thing was the mud. Cruella handled it like a champ. The scenery was so beautiful. My 30's were the best. Hope yours are too!

I have really enjoyed this I have not been able to be on a trail ride in years but just watching you has brought back all the memories. I could almost smell the scent of the horse and hear the Creek of the saddle the movement of the horse beneath me of the? slight breeze in my face as you ride along ❤ I really miss trail riding. And I really really miss my horses. Thank you for sharing
The cave is about 50 feet upupup! Omg I love that cave. You're crew must've cleaned it up for you. It's normally a mess.. drinking /smoking etc

I very much enjoyed this video! We have just started horse camping again after a 20 year break from horses. I have two great horses and so far they are doing good on most everything they have encountered, and my husband has been enjoying it too (he isn't the horse crazy one but he loves that one horse packs out elk for his hunting seasons lol). We live in North Eastern Oregon and we have a few options for developed horse camps within an easy haul, but we usually just dry camp with the horses on a hi-line and electric fence around them for extra containment and predator deterrent too. For now I am working on getting the horses & myself in shape for longer rides with steeper terrain etc. I used to trail ride all over growing up, and mostly bareback, but I am in my mid-forties now. I would love to know how often you stop to let horses rest when hauling, do you unload & let them stand tied a while? What an amazing birthday tradition. I think I may have originally found you because of another trail ride horse camping video you did.;) My beloved childhood horse was an appaloosa so we have that fondness in common. Somehow, I ended up with two paint horses. I used to show quarter horses as a teen and loved it before they got so low headed & the weird slow lope type they encourage now.;) Now I am trying to decide what I would like to focus on doing with my current horses and some training goals, so far horse camping has been a blast. I just need to find a much better flyspray because the bugs are the worst part!

Crystal falls is stunning. We have nothing like that in our area. We have sea though. But its arid land and very open. So nice to be able to see places like that. Australia has places similar but i would have to travel at the very least 500kms. Oh and loved the music choices.

@@freespiritequestrian I hope you do. Like the US we have a varied climate. Anything from Arid desert to Snow fields. You can go on camp draft affairs. Do a bit a Jackaroo/Jillaroo adventures. Australian version of Ranch hands. But Station hands instead.

The scenery is stunning and those trails look fun with challenging bits.🏞️ It reminded me of a ride with my friends on our Standardbreds and we got caught in a massive thunderstorm. Scary but exhilarating at the same time. 😱🌲🌩️🌧️🏇🌲

I fell upon Hocking Hills quite by accident once and stayed & hiked for 3 days. It's like a magical place hidden away! It's cool that you got to trail ride there! The horses did a great job! ❤️

When it's raining it's a bit dangerous, because the horse can skid or stumble. But it's a challenge for young people like you.👍💞
Riding horses is dangerous in general, trail riding even more so. Sadly we can’t control or predict the weather lol 😂

@@freespiritequestrian it's a very nice sport an hobby, but it's true: it's a dangerous sport. A horse has +/-600 kg, is 2m high and is afraid of all. Lucky it has 4 legs. 👍💞

It's just so heart warming to watch a trusting horse enjoy and take in all the new experiences and have such pleasant stimulation. Amazing composure with an incoming storm, we all know they get a bit frisky with the high winds and such. She took such good care of you! Always enjoy watching your experiences with these beauties. Also we need to acknowledge those EARS! Just adorable 😍 Side question, what bit was used here? She seemed to respond well to it. 😀
