Yeah, as a Frenchie I think this defeat was easier to stomach thanks to winning it in 2018 - not that there wasn't *some* disappointment, of course, but it was closer to "ah, damnit, we were *this* close to making history" than to "woe and despair, we'll never make it". Gg Argentina, see you in the US in 2026 for the Best of 3 ? 😊
I am German so in 2014 I couldn’t care less if he won or not. Now seeing the greatest of all time finally lift the trophy makes me nearly as happy as having my own country win it.
I agree, I'm German as well. Before that WC I didn't want Argentina to win it. But then I finally realized that Messi deserves it. Not only him but Argentina as well. A great football nation which has given us so many football legends. It's great to see the Argentinians so happy. It was your time
Also remember whenever you watch Messi you are watching an old Messi and still he is so good just imagine if you were watching football from 2009-2018 that Messi was insane even more than now
watching 2008 -2018 cr7 vs messi was the best thing in my life , i just wish people stop comparing them and appreciate the show since we will never get a striker like ronaldo or a playmaker like messi for the next 10 years
This shows how underrated 2019 Messi was he was most complete player could assist and still score in important games put trophies aside he carried Barca that what makes him different. 2019 was Messi’s last prime and it’s one of the best ones
Messi is the perfect example of never give up achieving your dreams he failed before this 4 finals of heartbreak with Argentina and even retired . To comeback to win 3 titles in 2 years with Argentina including winning the WC against all odds the absolute goat and he's not done yet.
It’s still crazy with Martinez save 2 billions peoples lives where on watch including mine. Martinez literally saved Messi and half of the population of having a heartache
Great video. Man, that editor knows how to tell a story! Funny to think that the World Cup passes most Americans by every 4 years. I mark the passage of my life by these earth-shaking tournaments! Lol😂
Wont lie, i stopped watching football right after germany - argentina and only restarted watching in 2022 with the argentina - australia game thinking it would be his last international game. This guy's story is unbelievably moving
I did not know this video existed and ufff man... just after that girl's interview thanking Messi for his carreer it was all tiers haha and I'm not Argentinian, man I am have not even been a Messi fan through out my life (I was a CR7 fan), but man... After the "que miras bobo?" Messi won. GOAT.
it has been great to see you understand and then admire fully this sport, messi and this world cup were the best ways you could have ever learned about the sport hahaha
it's been a joy watching messi for 20 years.. every single game he played he brought these insane plays that shouldn't even be possible. his highlight reel will be hours upon hours long.
If you watch a football hollywood movie from a worldcup. you wouldnt believe it .... But this is not a scrip.. THIS WAS REAL LIFE.... I broke into tears on that final game, I think my recently deceased father gifted to me from heaven Thanks Messi! Thanks dad
I thought he was gonna include the Copa América part... that is the most emotional for me and it was also for Messi. It was a breaking point for them in Argentina.
Didn't you see the video? Papu got a haircut and thinks he looks like Beckham. Then during the final one of the Argentinian commentators saw Beckham in the stands and said it was Papu 🤣🤣
Man you so lucky that you found football before this magical moment, it was to see Messi win the WC. Just found you channel today and happy that you have opened you heart to this great sport. I have seen every match of Messi since he was 17 years old. Him and i are the same age, so it was a giant moment for me. Im from Denmark and root for the danish club Brøndby, and as most people outside america NFL is not a huge sport and we generally show the same interest as you do for football(soccer). But many years ago i decided to give American football a chance, and i feel in love with TO and Marion Barber and have been a Huge Cowboys Fan like you ever since. I hope more americans open the eyes for footbal and visa versa. Well you have a new subs in me and looking forward for more content.
He had to win the worldcup in order to finally get rid of being called "incomplete" all the time, even the great Pele called him that... and there is even a Book titled ”Messi, El Genio Incompleto”... can you even begin to imagine, how it must have felt after 10+ years of being called "incomplete" to go into your last tournament, your chance to make it "complete"?
It was like a fairytale story, the greatest player to ever play the game finally wins the biggest trophy in football. People had been holding it against him that Maradona was able to win it with Argentina and he would never, having lost the final in 2014 vs Germany. Given that he is 35 now and it would be his last World Cup, couldn't have ended any better let alone it was the greatest final in history in terms of a spectacle. It was justice for football and it will be generations before we ever see another player like him. The only thing that could have made it any better is if Maradona was still alive to celebrate it with him.
I am from Argentina. We breath football here. It's...everything. Our main local teams are River Plate and Boca Juniors (btw you should watch some video about that).
Welcome to futbol USA we were waiting for you to join the world’s biggest sport. And we sent you our best player to teach you why this sport is our passion. Keep learning more and more and next year in Copa America happening in the USA you will see why Argentinean fans are cultural phenomena.
I'm not commenting that much to videos, but I have to say that you look a lot healthier since you're into this sport. Keep going man, you're for sure an inspiration for a lot of people.
I started to watch world cup since 2010..i remember last 2014 i was rooting for germany coz of muller but on that final my heart goes for argentina..i was sad when they lost, i dont know messi that time yet...im happy that messi got his happy ending
You don't need to win anything at all to be the greatest ever player. People that can't get their heads around this have a deep misunderstanding of what is special in the world. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Messi won the WC. He's the greatest player of all time and for him to have icecream at his induction into the heavens is a special treat. The icecream isn't the angel. Just go slap yourself if you don't understand that.
You gotta start watching more soccer around the world. Even now a good rivalry in your home like Mexico vs USA. MLS vs MX and you will understand this game even better.
Dunno if u have heard of Ben foster but he’s a pro keeper who used to play in the prem he’s just come out of retirement to play for wrexham and he does match day vlogs his match day vlog there of his debut for wrexham would be a good video to react to shows u how the players see it any of his vids would be good to watch his channel is the cycling GK
He wasnt fully fit..but Scaloni and the realized that he could be their secret weapon and he did excellent playing with the unexpected position than usual..
And some guys have the guts to say it was rigged. Why is it rigged when Messi wins the world cup. What if Messi won the Argentina won the 2014 W.C would they say that it was rigged👀🤷🏻♂️
Great video, keep the good work 👊🏼❤️ (You should definitely check out more of CR7, I feel like the only video you’ve watched of him didn’t do him justice at all)
You should learn about the Argentinian league, They have the most fierce rivalry in club football in the World. The Superclasico Boca Juniors vs River Plate. Boca being the biggest club in The Americas !!
I hated how mbappe got all the credit for France performance in the final when two of the goals he got were penalties and in the first half he touch the ball 3 times only yet everyone kept saying he did everything himself
Messi managed to win WC because the usual european giants are sleeping. Tells you alot when france, england and netherland have the strongest squad in europe😢😢. No italy, no germany, no spain!
Luke, you have to watch some argentine football, but not just the league/teams, but the core sensations on tge people, we breathe football, we live football, we love football, we are a football nation. And again. PLEASE react to COPA90'S Video about river vs boca
German Messi fan here. Of course I celebrated in 2014 but I am so glad he got his WC now. To me, he has been the GOAT for years now, even without this trophy. Nobody compares. However, there always would have been the doubters and the haters if he hadn't won it. Now, the very obvious fact that he is the best to ever grace this game is mainstream.
Remember messi has only played on perfect pitches with lots of protection? GEORGE BEST played on horrendous pitches and got kicked to hell, if best was playing today on them pitches it would be amazing, ronaldo i think just beats messi, he has scored far more goals, also ronaldo has played in the premier league messi hasnt, the french is a weak league and not worth a mention👍
Messi was a phenomenon played in pitch filled with glass and dirt in slum neighborhood that even scouts from Europe heard about him 😴 with all the argument(?) you listed.. then Morata and Zlatan is the best because of the multiple league and team that their played in..suddenly george best better? Your parents probably didnt even born when he played lol.
has scored far more goals? messi has now scored more goals in the european top 5 leagues than ronaldo having played more than 100 games less. Overall messi is like 20-30 goals behind ronaldo even though ronaldo played about 150 games more. There is no debate anymore. You prefer Ronaldo all good but Messi is the undisputed goat.
Kinda funny how the Argentines directed racist chants at the black French players for being of foreign backgrounds while playing a guy called Alex MacAllister lolol
You don't know how much this worldcup meant. After 2014 final broke my heart and that came to an end after we won the final
As a 19 yo German and Harcore Messi Fan, it was a W W for me xd

Messi's career is movie-like, but I not even Hollywood could script such a movie. How lucky are we to be living at this time.
Also remember whenever you watch Messi you are watching an old Messi and still he is so good just imagine if you were watching football from 2009-2018 that Messi was insane even more than now

2019 Messi is also one of his peaks

It's worth crying

I watched your early vids and this is much different. I see the appreciation now 👍
Incredible final. Argentina was dominating/decimating France for the first 80 mins, one PK later…what an insane frantic finish.
Messi is the best
