I like the idea of reference capacitors particularly if we have known specifications. Thanks.

The "problem" on the 121GW was the relative function turns off the auto ranging function. This is a relative function and not a zeroing function that would affect all the ranges. The relative function is also used with known higher values where you don't really want it auto ranging when you disconnect, etc. Common use might be checking the accuracy of a bunch of resistors where it will make it easy to see which ones are within your requirements.

Yeah. But the manual explicitly mentions the use for nulling out the residual capacitance of the leads etc. So it is in this case a zeroing function. The 2 most common uses of the "Relative" or "Delta" are in my experience capacitance offset nulling and resistance "nulling" of the residual contact and test-lead resistance.

    I like the idea.
I would like to build it!

It´s already available in our shop: www.ak-modul-bus.de/stat/referenz_kondensatorn_reference_caps.html
A "calibration-certificate" is supplied with the set where all caps are individuallay measured to

If you are measuring then writing the *-actual-* values onto the top of the box, then you have absolutely no need for 1% or even 5% tolerance. You can use ANY tolerance, since you are not taking notice of the value written on the capacitor.
I agree regarding the material they are made from - this comment only relates to the tolerance value.

Yes of course. But the 1% film-caps are not that expensive (except for the 100µF one) and make out only a relatively insignifant l part of the cost. And with 1% values I have a cross-check with my LCR-meter. The customers will get a sticker with the measured values.
