my first big coaster, I went with my best friend and honestly I wouldnt have gone with anyone else BUT her. She comforted me the whole ride while I was ducking down and screaming. They accidently let us go 3 times in a row.
OMG, does that bring back memories. My parents would take my brother and I there every summer from our home in CT. Loved the Dragon! Took a while for me to grow to the age line, but was worth the wait.
I don’t think that this ride is the best, but it is one of my favorites. It is just so much fun wizzing through supports and that photogenic dragon tunnel.
I will always love Playland , even though they don’t have as many good rides as they use too ! Use to go there every week when I was in day-camp and on the weekends with my family ! Beautiful architecture and love being on the water ! Playland can be great if they would bring back the old classic rides and bring back the Airplane Coaster ! I’ve never been on it but it looked huge !
It's sad they removed so many older rides like the Flying Scooters, the Rotor, the Monster Mouse and the Spider and the Flying Witch! Even the peddle-boats on the lake! What are they thinking? Bring back the old Aeroplane coaster and revive Playland!
@@tomy.1846 I used to work the Monster Mouse, Rotor and Bumper Cars (the bigger track) back in '85 and '86. It was a fun job. I don't remember it being called "Flying Scooters" if what you're talking about is the one where you steer the rudder to go higher or lower when swinging around. I worked that ride once but I preferred doing the bumper cars because I created games for the riders by pairing red and green against yellow and blue and then switching in the middle of the ride to green and yellow vs blue and red, and using every color combo. The kids would exit and run right back around to get on line again. I had the longest line in the park.
I faced my fear on this rollercoaster yesterday. I was screaming like a girl the whole time but it was definitely fun. I loved going through the Dragon tunnel. That was really cool!
I actually losed it around the same time! My first ride was on American Dream New Jearsy, Nickelodeon, Sandy's Blasting Bronco, short but it's definitely pretty intense for a first timer!
Playland Amusement Park, My brother used to run the Dragon Coaster back in the late 80's he used to ride the coaster on the front or on the back standing up. When summer jobs were full of good memories.
I remember working for Avon right down the street in the early 90's. We'd walk down at lunch time, ride the Dragon Coaster a few times, and walk back. Of course this was back in the day when you paid per ride!😂😂 Fun memory!
I went on this ride today. The part where it's going down always gives me a heart attack. The least thing that I could do is scream in my head, not out loud
Omfgggg same I went on it today. My first ever rollercoaster, I was screaming my lungs out.. I almost passed out mid way at the long drop but I mean.. it was still fun! 😭
A lot of coaster enthusiasts say this coaster is not very good, but in my opinion it’s a great ride for those getting into roller coasters. Not too large but also not too small, it’s almost like the Cyclone’s younger cousin.
I love this coaster, but the last time i was there a group of high school students tried to steal my handbag from the bucket they make you store your stuff in, I grabbed it from this one girl by the handle and starred her out she was still trying to grab it off me. It was kinda scary as my passport was in it as I was travelling there from Ireland. Be careful with your belongings on this ride.
It's been 3 years since I've been home to Rye. I live in Chelsea Manhattan a very good friend of mine who is no longer with us Lawrence McGowan worked in the Rye Playland Paint Shop for many years. A Mariah Carey music video was filmed there as well as the movie Big.

This is my literal first rollercoaster ever. I actually can’t believe I rode it earlier today, I was TERRIFIED. I was literally slightly shaking when I got off of it haha. Hopefully there’ll be a next time, and hopefully it’s not as terrifying..

im a HUGE scardey cat on rides and im are riding it for the first tine is it scarey
Pause , ayo
First time scares second time the best
Lol! It was my first and my kids first big coaster, too!! I was terrified first time, so was my son.

I went here yesterday and I could barley walk after I rode the dragon coaster
Mariah Carey - Fantasy
i just rode this ride today when i tell you my face frozee
Fred Church designed and still running great
Why does this ride look more intense in the movie fatal attraction lol
I think they attached the a camera closer to the tracks which made it look faster. Plus they focused on the most intense parts of the whole ride.

Well, it was opened in 1929. I'm sure most things with "dragon" in it back then are underwhelming by today's standards. lol.
