@@yourexperienceguide I haven’t been on big one since the new track section was put on but it used to sound like a fright train going through that tunnel before
Went on this today, it was my first time to go on a rollercoaster and let me tell you I was so scared at first, but the moment I went on the ride I was enjoying every minute of it with my friends! Made such lovely memories ❤️
I used to visit Blackpool, Morecambe and Southport many years ago with my parents, before this coaster existed. I no longer live in the UK, but I have wanted to ride this for ages. Yesterday, I finally made it. Great experience.
The first drop on the back row of the big one is my favorite bit of this park. The front Seat on Infusion is the most exciting ride overall, and I think the big dipper is the most fun overall.
Did pleasure beach for the first time today! Got back seat on Big One & Dipper! Dipper is arguably the best woody I’ve ever ridden and that drop on Big One is unlike anything else. The most memorable part of the ride for me though is after the big loop back and you look back at the lift hill and think “that looks miles away…I was literally there seconds ago!”
My fave Big One POV was always the one from 'where seagulls dare' but this just tops it, has it all, most of all the unique soothing sound of the lift chain. This is THE definitive POV of Britian's Tallest Rollercoaster.....drink it in. Scott has done us proud here 11/10
Just wait till project exodus in thorpe park is built it will be 23 foot taller than the big one and said to be 1mph faster than stealth which is also at thorpe park (currently the fastest in the UK)
The new section of track looks lovely, and feels very smooth compared to the rest, I’d love to see the whole thing look as colourful as the new track like it used to!
Came here on Saturday, first time ever going on rollercoasters. I was always afraid of them when I was a kid so I never went to theme parks, but two mates wanted to do this so I thought I should give it a go (expecting to hate it nonetheless). We started on The Big Dipper, which was deceivingly thrilling! Then we did Infusion which I really didn't want to do, but after the initial fear after the start I loved it, and then it was The Big One... that drop is like nothing I have ever experienced. Terrifying yet utterly brilliant! Can't believe I enjoyed it 😁
God, I just love the classic, homemade like engineering of Arrow coasters. Would have been such a joy to work for them during their heyday. Just so cool seeing their solutions to little problems. Like 2:20 easy way to make sure your supports line up is put a flat 1" plate, level on top of support post and just mount track to the plate instead of directly to support; that way plenty of give/room to place track on at top. Since it's all mostly hand welded track. Super simple, little wasteful but it works. Support could be like 2" off center and you'd still be fine with plenty of space to mount track to support. Like at 0:54 how they put the plastic on the anti roll back device, I'm guessing for less friction, smoother operation etc. 2:21 at top right, on helix in front of camera.... Can't figure out what those weird mounts on top of support are, that are hooked to track with threaded rod. Weird. No idea what that's for; maybe extra tie downs for track to supports but doesn't seem like it'd be doing anything. 1:30 The white trellise structure they used to span the long distance between the only spots they could place 200' supports. Clever, ugly, but clever. Lots of welds to inspect, but was best they could do with their track type and tech at time. Nowadays Intamin double spine or B&M track could probably make those spans without weirdness like that.
@Arrow Dynamics Inc. Oh yeah? Learn something new everyday. Where did you learn that? So, they just sub-contracted out the engineering for supports on all pre computer designed Arrow coasters?
Great comments, Arrow really did change the game. Btw, those additional welds/wire running the track is a safety cable that maintenance attaches to their belt-harness when inspecting the track.
@@bobbylindsey Also think it's interesting how around this time they changed their cross ties to a single piece that's rounded instead of a welded contraption of like 4-6 pieces all with welds to inspect. The welded track is a lot easier to fix I'd imagine. I wonder if they do welding on the track ever or just always replace the track piece. Isn't the station an elevator transfer track too?
@@jonny-b4954 The rounded one piece cross-tie is a D.H. Morgan signature; take a look at Phantoms Revenge at Kennywood. Morgan & Arrow have similar track design they often worked together on projects, (Dana) Morgan may have been a consultant on the project which would explain the different looking cross-ties. The Big One does utilize an elevator transfer in the station, pretty genius for its time.
Tall and awesome doesn’t mean intense and scary. At movie world the scariest roller coaster (superman escape) is much scarier than the other roller coasters that tower next to it.
@@musicalman1995MovieWorld Brisbane? If so DC Rivals is roughly the same height as the Big One with a similar first drop but the rest of the coaster is far superior to this. Great POV of my favourite pleasure beach ride. This was an engineering marvel back in the day when it first got constructed and opened and was at that time the tallest in the world I believe. There's still an air of cockyness about it now even after almost 30 years and it still deserves respect.

Was and still is a magnificent design and structure long may the big one live and would love to extend this at some point with even more thrills come on amanda lets get cracking uprate this beauty .
Rode again last year, and the whole train rattled violently (laterally) on the turnaround helix - you can see it in this video. In the gift shop, I bought a side-friction wheel from the Big One, and you can see the axle hole is not quite in the centre, which is making the wheels wobble. Would be such a smooth ride if the wheels were better made!
What's ur opinion on the big one. I have a season pass for the 2022 season and I've been on most rides apart from this and 3 others. What is it like throughout the ride? 😊
I loved the lift hill from that angle. I have a question. Mike was talking about larger guests fitting on rides. Would there be any issue with Wallace and Gromit since there is a lap bar?
I'm on blackpool on holiday and my family wants to go on this but I'm terrified even looking at the ride. I still want to go on it though. Any advice on what I should do or how I should deal with it. Many thanks.
There's so much inconsistency in how this ride feels. We rode it last Saturday for the late night opening in the morning and we were sat towards the front and honestly it was so smooth I didn't feel a thing. We later rode it again after dark in the middle and I have never been shaken about so much on a coaster in my life. It was violent, so much so that I drove back to Leeds with an awful migraine. I also heard the guy behind me commenting on how rough it was too. Is there a difference between the carts or something?
Many factors, it runs differently depending on the wind speeds and direction, the third row of every carriage has less space than the 1st and 2nd rows, but all in all I still don't find it rough at all.
This is the best POV of the big one, it’s so strange that it’s now almost silent going through the tunnel now with the new track

I'm terrified of heights, I want to go on this this Friday when I go Pleasure Beach.
You'll be fine
Was and still is a magnificent design and structure long may the big one live and would love to extend this at some point with even more thrills come on amanda lets get cracking uprate this beauty .
They’ve been doing a lot of retracking work in recent years
Rode again last year, and the whole train rattled violently (laterally) on the turnaround helix - you can see it in this video.

Still my favourite at Pleasure Beach
this is so cool!! my number one👌🏻
Thank you! ☺️
I loved the lift hill from that angle.
I have a question. Mike was talking about larger guests fitting on rides. Would there be any issue with Wallace and Gromit since there is a lap bar?
Mike gets on it with ease :)
There is a lap bar but it doesn’t have any sensors to dictate how far it goes down
@@Mikeb1001 Oh thanks for letting me know
Word of advice sit at the front beczuse if youre at the middle or back it hurts like hell when you go down on drops
Hello, I’m going to the pleasure beach on saturday and debating whether i should go on this or not, does your stomach drop?

I was at Blackpool pleasure beach during 6th-10th June 2021 but I was feeling ill and I didn’t wanna go on this ride for how I felt
I'm on blackpool on holiday and my family wants to go on this but I'm terrified even looking at the ride. I still want to go on it though. Any advice on what I should do or how I should deal with it. Many thanks.
Sit on the left hand seat, you don't have to worry about overlooking the views on the way up then
@@yourexperienceguide thanks, went on it in the end and it was amazing.
Will they do a full retrack
Unlikely
I’m flying to the pleasure beach the day after tomorrow for my birthday :)))) in my opinion it’s my fav theme park!
Thank you for watching and commenting, enjoy
Due to a spinal problem. I can no longer ride these anymore, but this was amazing and brought many memories back of being on it in 94
There's so much inconsistency in how this ride feels.
