I added foam to the bottom of mine to stop it from sliding/scratching. I also added some o-rings to the buttons to make them more quiet when bottoming out. Great review as always!
@@nogoodchad4473 I designed them, before my current full time job and night time arcade parts designer, I designed medical products and did biomechanics research, so button design was right in line with my background :)
I came here wanting to learn about the MPress. And well, I did! More than I expected. Thank you for your content, that was a good thourough review for this product.
Really tempted to cop one but what’s holding me back is PS5 support for ufb, really looks amazing and they did a great job on yours with your logo on it. Be a nice handy portable ABC-box
Thank you Mr. Sujano for your thorough and honest review! Personally i'm glad i ordered the snackbox micro for my portable button box. My current go-to controller is the Key Cade BBL arcade controller (button box as well) Have you heard of them? I'm a Tekken 7 player and I couldn't be happier right now. let's see if the snack box can beat it!!
Seeing as how HitBox is a brand name, I've been seeing this style of controller being referred to more recently as a button box. For anyone who isn't familiar with the difference, it's like the difference between a Jacuzzi and a hot tub: all Jacuzzis (brand name) are hot tubs (generic term) but not all hot tubs are Jacuzzis.
"Hitbox" is brand and the device. The native name was "Smash Box" since they build it to play Smash Bros. The first box was named "Hit Box" and they still going by that name between 2015-2017 I think. Since then several different names were around.
This one is definitely on my buy list. $225.00 is a lot for me but also realize top tier sticks sales for $200.00-$300.00. Hopefully msrp of sticks are lower one day 😊
@@armi0024 yea, price not unreasonable at all considering the parts and standard cost of good sticks, just its out of my price range. Mayflash f500 with sanwa parts is best I can do. Costed me around $120ish. Good enough for my needs, can always dream of better. 😊
I just bought an MPress at Frosty Faustings, and to be honest, I've been having a ton of trouble. For example, I don't know how to get my PC to recognize it. It works on PS4 (and was sold as being an old-gen stick, not the new PS5 versions). I just wanna play parsec mahvel
They need to redesign it so that the bottom is less likely to scratch and that cable attachment looks too fragile. Would make me a little uncomfortable that I might break or bend it when plugged into the stick. Beautiful design though. They should offer travel cases for it too.
I should add here that I've been using the MPress for a few months. The USB-C port is now incredibly flimsy and often loses contact, would not recommend, this needs some custom work to actually solve long term.
Looks great and seems to be the way to go for casual gamers that like fighting games. But I bet the pros will pick the original hotBox or japanese arcade sticks as they are easier to maintain/service and mod (button replacement, board swaps, etc.)
Surprisingly not for me. There is printing on the bottom of mine which does add grip. Wearing jeans it wasn't sliding around too much. Worst case is just play without pants. That plexi will stick to your bare legs no problem 😂
@@Mrblackgoldfish sorry completely misread the question and thought it was related to the Mpress, we had someone ask to install them not even a week ago... which is why I read over like it was an Mpress question
@@armi0024 yeah I know those caps are for Sanwa buttons I bought the 3D printed concave ones from Focus Attack there good, but I rather like them in more colors other than black and white.
@@cozycherry1790 I cannot actually guess the weight of various arcade products sadly :( I know the MPress is lighter but I'm curious to it's exact weight
I would go for the hitbox just because it seems easier to mod or replace pieces and im a more personal opinion I like the hitbox style more than the mpress
Any recommendation for snack box micro vs this controller? I’ve been playing on keyboard and would like to get a hitbox so I don’t risk wearing out my laptops keyboard. These seem like good options for similar prices due to their form factor and quality, so I was wondering if you had a preference or what the main differences were. Thanks for the great vids, they’re always so informative!
IDK man i think it's kind of stupid to buy a all button fightstick with the ps5 out. if a fighting game does come out in the near future with no ps4 version(maybe in like 2ish years for ps3 it was 1) your kinda screwed. And even if they do have a ps4 version none of the neat benefits like high resolution or faster load times would be accessible if your stuck playing with hitboxes. I would highly recommend waiting for a ps5 support before you buy any stick. That way you would future proof your purchase and you would't have to re spend $200. I wish Mr. Sujano would mention that in his videos so people would get to make an educated purchase.
Interesting but I’m not impressed if I’m playing against someone not using a stick like it was in the arcade. If the arcade used this setup then yeah. Muscle memory must be something else with that.
MPress: Impress or Empress?

Thanks buddy. Great video as always!
Is there a way to make it more quiet 🤫
This was the video that got me to order an Mpress (I pronounce it "Empress") and now I'm so happy I finally ordered one.

I swear your favorite thing is introducing us to dope stuff that's always sold out 😭 Keep these coming though I wouldn't have ever seen it otherwise
And.... they cleared off the shelf in minutes lol, so we have put in a "notify me" button for restocks!
@@armi0024 lemme know when that goes up, I'm down to try it. If you work for the company, how did you guys go about designing your own buttons?

Love the review and how you showcased the details of the MPress.
This looks amazing! And great review!
they could've used cherry mx silvers for the short throw but that would've made the controller 0.6mm taller i guess
wondering if this is better than the snackbox micro, ive heard the snackbox is the way to go between the two but im curious
How does its responsiveness compare to something like the snack box micro?
what a beautiful piece of hardware
I love what u do for the community
some foam on the bottom helps, also stops sliding as much

SOLD OUT
"Sigh"
Same. I was on their site the other day and it was open to order. I see this video, go back to the site and now it's sold out🤦🏾♂️
Been interested in this, but as I already have a hitbox, I'm gonna wait till one that supports PS5 and the new gen consoles to get on the mpress.
So is this controller compatible for ps5 with a converter?
Since the Paradise Arcades website shows it as sold out, it doesn't show the price. How much does one of these cost?
Can you use buttons from other brands with this or you have to use Paradise's ones exclusively?

With the bottom being pure acrylic, wouldn't it be pretty slippery to use on your lap?
