To flag with the akward feeling mentioned on the Hitbox, you aren't actually supposed to rest your palms on any controller. That's what leads to injury. This is also the reason as to why the Hitbox does not permit a lot of room to rest your palms. The correct ergo way is to the keep your palms elevated.

I've been using a Hitbox for a month, it's a game changer. Controllers were giving me hand-pain & traditional fight-sticks never felt "right". The hand pain is pretty much gone now, 100% worth the money

The idea that the "run over by a car" proves that the hitbox is "less durable" is ridiculous. Do some drop/impact tests from table height instead of some weird thing that will never happen anyway. The fact that you can actually exchange all the parts in a hitbox vs any of the other two, is also a plus. Even when the ps6 comes out, you can buy a PCB and change it out of the hitbox. That won't be possible with any of the two others

being run over by a car is ridiculous, but the fact that it will "never happen" (if you've dealt with retail returns, you'd know things DO get run over by cars) doesn't mean it's not useful. Knowing that it can withstand the weight of a car going over it slowly, gives me confidence that when packing my bags for a tournament, I don't have to worry if i pack it on the bottom and stack consoles/weighted sticks/streaming equipment on top of it.

Srsly, I don't know why I'm so obsessed with gaming peripherals - I sometimes barely get to play stuff at all, but for some reason I'll always find some time to research, watch, buy or test new peripherals. And I have to say the arcade and fighting community are really upping the game here and are starting to get more in line with custom keyboards, controllers and mice... but... usually with a higher standard of quality for the affordable mid/higher end range it seems. I love it.

For anyone wondering, the newest version of the Hit Box is a quarter of an inch thinner now with a non-slip bottom. In addition, our acrylic top as been adjusted to be more rounded.
With that said, we do not recommend playing any all-button controllers on a desk/table as you will run into similar issues that people have with typing or playing competitive PC games. We recommend using these types of controllers in your lap, for ergonomic's sake.

Not necessarily. Depends on the rest of your posture as well. You can perfectly float your hands yet bend your wrists or pull up your shoulders as you do so and cause all kinds of issues, while the dude next to you is sitting/standing correctly yet rests not on the *wrist* but on the *hand* or the meaty part of the lower arm and can be just fine depending on the setup. As someone who types a *lot*, has been doing competitive PC gaming for over 13 years now and has a background in the physical therapy direction line of work I can safely say that general advice like what you said is well-meant, but quite void if you don't see exactly what someone is doing. And trust me I have run into issues throughout the years due to trying things out or excessive stress.

Honestly it's been kinda sad to see Hitbox, in my opinion, stagnate over the years. They were so exciting and unique when they first came to market and as far as I know were also the first ones to offer a box style controller for Smash. That's so cool!
But now stuff like the MPress, Snackbox, and Frame1 just seem more modern and a better investment. I hope Hitbox does some really significant refreshes soon and comes back swinging.

Out of the three I'd choose the MPress. A very important factor in gaming is comfort and it is the one that looks to be the most comfortable one. I just don't like the 30mm buttons and would prefer a 24mm version so I wouldn't have to stretch my fingers. Hence, I am currently building my one one...

    • @MoveQuick4
      @MoveQuick4 3 роки тому +7

This doesn't make much sense. Since the mpress removed the casing around the button plungers, the spacing is the same as a regular 24mm button except you now get more button space. Best of both worlds.

When it says "Multi Console Support" for the MPress that means you don't need a separate usb attachment to connect to it like a Magic-S adapter, right? or do you still need those type of adapters? I'm probably going to get one anyways because not all fightsticks are created the same but I'm just wondering.

i have a original Mixbox a custom made "Hitbox" from blunderbuss-designs both modded a little.
and i like both very much, great products.
    Why i would not buy a M-Press:
Too small to lay it down on ur lap and put this on the table either seams not to be a good solution.
Why i would not buy a Snackbox:
Too small and not really modable, but at least u can put it on the table if u put a anti slip mat on the bottom
Why i would not buy a Hitbox:
Shiping and Importtaxes make this nearly product twice as expensive (in the EU)
    No Palm support
    Only Sanwa Buttons to choose
    No different pcb´s to choose
Well at least u can choose premium price.

Hopefully Paradise Arcade has some more options, like lights and bigger sizes in the future. I would definitely get one from them then. Something else to consider is the noise. Kailh Choc (low profile) switches used on the Micro don't have a silent offering where Cherry MX used on the MPress and of course the Sanwa used on the Hitbox do. There is a possible way to add sound dampening o-rings to both Kailh Choch switches and Cherry MX but your results may vary and reviewers generally say that doing so makes them feel more mushy which somewhat defeats the purpose of mechanical switches, if you're into that kind of thing. I am going to try some o-rings on my Micro when it comes in and see how it goes.

Don't be worried. The hitbox is perfectly good. I honestly don't agree that it's "outdated" tbh. The most recent version is much slimmer than what he's got, the detachable cable is very sturdy with a strong port, and it comes with its own bag and wipe. It's very sleek and minimalist, has a fully gripped base, and has a great weight to it. I think you'll still be happy with it. It does have a sharp edge, but you're not really supposed to rest your palms when using a hitbox controller, it's bad posture that could injure your wrists.

Like its on the keyboard - num-lock-pad keys, but little bigger. Thats the perfect for arcade games, because you have access to 8 buttons without even moving your wrist. The move-hand (W,A,S,D or Arrows) also best to be like the keyboard, not like the hit-box set-up. The jump should be Up above the ,,Down" button.

In addition, the Hit Box is thinner now than what is shown in the video. About a quarter of an inch thinner - still not as thin as the other two, which are highly focused on portability.
