It's mostly that. Not many around and no knowledge of the demand, past or present. Be hard pressed to find footage that isn't from some 50 something of the Atari era, who just happened to record some over the shoulder footage for himself. Tekken 2 was mad though still. They were real smart to add low parries in Tekken 3, more than anything.
Please do more of this. I am one of the dinosaurs who started playing tekken competitively during tag 1 and your conversation with the OGs of your scene had me smiling from ear to ear the whole podcast. Keep up the good work Arya and team!

Ryan Hart is a real dinosaur lol, how can you be that competitive at such a young age when the era and development of gaming was a pure addiction and you only wanted to play and as many cool games as possible but Ryan and a handful of others playing a broken game like Tekken 2 hard asf xD
So crazy, I was at that tournament back in 2000/2001 - Euro 3 i think it was when Ryan Hart vs Sandro went down and Sando beat him - the italian contingent were major winners that time. Glad that memory is still being talked about.
My brother and our friend used to go to Casino and play back in the TTT / T4 days. We never really beat any of these guys but had fun anyway. Good to hear the reminiscing. We all pretty much stopped when we went to Uni after a couple of years. Must have been 18 years ago! Also we went and stayed with Dinosaur for a weekend tournament in Bristol when he was there. I remember that he didn't play in it because he was too good and it would be boring. I lost to my friend in the semi and then he lost to another local guy. Man. I've been playing Tekken since T1, but there was never really a competitive scene by me. Seeing you guys get together and talk really makes me feel like I missed out. I'd love to join in on the convo with you guys and just shoot the shit.
Tekken 4 was greatly underrated in terms of how they took characters & stories very seriously. Not to forget about aesthetics and visuals. Edit: Music too. If it wasn't for music, Hon-maru battle would never have been epic.
I feel like there are still characters in tekken with movesets that let people be very expressive. But people generally try and model - and compare themselves - on/with other players. King is a very well rounded character, and I've noticed allot of different Kings, but allot definetely model themselves on Lil Majin.

I live in West Croydon. Heart of Gaming has now merged with Playnation Games and is a 2 floor gaming Center with arcade machines and setups next door to the Whitgift Center. Pretty good scene over there. Funny to think you lot use to chill round these parts
