I struggle with this, but hearing you say “worrying doesn’t prepare you” and “you’re going to receive the assignment regardless of whether you’re worried or not” helped me realize that I’m exerting excessive energy on worrying, instead of being human. I'm not a lawyer, I'm a paralegal and I can relate to feeling shy and like you don't know anything. I've been a paralegal for almost 8 years now and it has not gone away. I have just learned to live with it and found ways with how to cope. I did get better though.
I’m a summer student right now at a firm and this video was very helpful! I definitely relate to the feeling of being anxious about making mistakes. Hopefully with time I will become more used to the idea that I can’t be perfect all the time and that mistakes will happen. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
I have had the same feelings about myself my whole life. As an undergraduate I would know the answers to questions or have ideas I’d like to add to conversations but I never could pull the trigger. It’s a feeling that has kind of swayed me from applying to law school. I’m currently taking a year off to give myself time to truly determine if it’s a path I would like to go down. Just want to thank you for your honesty about your experience. It’s very inspiring to a person like me.

Here is my struggle: inadequacy. The higher my learning-motivation, the worse I get chopped down. I am disillusioned by myself. There is a Proverb: "I am the stupidest person." My motivation to learn cannibalizes my aspirations. My breaths get very small, and I work until I feel like vomiting. Once I said, “I will show mercy-to make life a little less confusing for people who are going through a hard time.” I know that I am dull. I don't hate myself, but my head hurts.

Would you recommend completely relaxing, travelling and doing nothing, or would you recommend doing some readings and getting ahead for the spring semester? When should 1Ls start applying for possible 1L summer jobs? Thank you :)
