    I remember years ago my Dad and I decided to watch this concert out of impulse, and we were definitely enjoying it up until this point. When John started singing I remember we were just in awe and unable to react, just sheer amazement. And then came the tears and my Dad muttering "wow...". Miss you, Dad.

    • @ICee712
      @ICee712 Рік тому +2

      @@RHCPsTv you think this cover is better than The Chantels original? This is a great, shortened version - and it’s awesome that he gives homage to a relatively unknown group from a generation ago. But the original is a far better, and stronger version. Obviously music is subjective. But most people that aren’t complete simps over John (and believe me, he’s one of the inspirations that got me into playing guitar almost two decades ago)and can remain neutral between the two would disagree with you on that

    A long time ago, I was working retail, night was slow, and one of my coworkers played this over the speakers really loud. None of us talked, just listened, and then I spent the next five years looking for it because I was to embarrassed to ask what this song was. I found it last year... which is when I realized I had been thinking about a two minute clip of audio I had only heard once for FIVE YEARS straight. Must be a good one. It really is.

      He's very brave about exposing himself as a work in progress to the world. Everything from the legendary drug use in the past (I'e seen a few of those videos and felt kind of creepy afterwards for watching, tbh...like when I watched that HBO or Showtime series about dying and showed real deaths.
      The thing is I care but I'm not sure he does.
      I feel the same about his deviating from the rock and learning the electronics bc that is hard enough...when good at something already to chose to start a whole new chapter. i won't allow much to be recorded of what I do...I've only be taking and allowing photos more than twice a year or so fairly recently. So. to me, just anouncing that he's planning to learn something and publish his progress is committing to something and brave.
      I'm also starting to suspect he could do more than just the music. He's so good with imagery and discovering other ways of experiencing music (like movement, colors, designs, speed and perception etc...) that I could see him putting together a muti-level project, like a musical or opera or ballet:)) That's hard bc there a whole world to create and sustain for hours but I can see him doing it for some reason.

    i saw this show live. it was an amazing day of music...morcheeba, pj harvey, queens of the stone age, foo fighters and RHCP. this song was definitely a standout moment of the day. 🙂
    an interesting side note...there is actually an edit in the song that goes virtually unnoticed on the dvd.
    when john started the song, he got really, really high with his pitch. he had to stop at one point and reel it back in. when he started the song again, the crowd cheered because they were really enjoying it, even if they didn't know the song. the edit happens when the camera is shown facing him and the stage...then when it comes back, it's from john's back looking out at the audience. you can hear the crowd pick up a bit at that because he was starting again. on the dvd, it looks and sounds like he's just continuing along.

    I was lucky to have an older brother who loved awesome music, and I was lucky to have him play me Mothers Milk when it came out in ‘89. I was 7, but it changed my life, and I was a Chili Pepper fanatic for life. While I was too young to appreciate Hillel until later, the one constant for me was always John and I truly feel the Chili’s don’t have the magic when he’s not in the band.
    John IS the magic, and it’s so amazing to finally have him back ❤️❤️❤️

    Best part was his sheepish "thank you" at the end of the song. Bless you, John Frusciante!

    My missus caught me watching this the other day, I’ve been watching this masterpiece on and off for years now and I’ve recently been diagnosed with depression, and I get emotional at the slightest thing, so me being a bloke, I try to hide my emotions, she said to me “ that song makes you cry doesn’t it?” So I said yes, she sat down next to me and said “ come on let’s watch it together” I love her and I’m gonna marry her, she’s got my back and loves me 👊👊 and I love you Adele Weaver XX

    I hate it when people compare John Frusciante to Jesus.
    He's great, but he's no Frusciante.

    I was there at this gig. Notice the cut after the first verse to the shot from behind John. That is because he stopped for one reason or another, apologised, regathered himself and continued beautifully. The stop was edited out hence the cut to the back shot. What was also omitted from the DVD was Flea and John doing a rendition of a section of the Donna Summer song I feel Love with Flea doing an emulation of the electronic backing track on bass and John singing.

    Love the original by the Chantals. He nailed it! This guy made it outta the 90s heroin decade and lived to tell! Just wanna give him a big hug. Sensitive right brained empathic musicians wear their hearts on their sleeves and are so likely to mask those feeling with drugs and alcohol because the world yells at them for "feeling so much pain" but pain makes the Best kind of Music because it's Honest Music!
