It should be illegal to paint best brickwork.
Many a time. I’ve seen a smashed out fireplace after removing the render so to speak 😉
I'm not a brickie, but I'm going to guesstimate sometime in the 1920's - Id' have thought by the 30's they'd be using cement mortar, but I feel like people wouldn't be building garages for cars much before that
I think 1920’s , weren’t they the blocks for the first breed of cavity walling Dean?
Lovin the heritage work, keep em comin pal 👊
Love the videos, im going for 1925, maybe earlier. Im not 100% sure as my knowledge on them blocks is little, but lime and the wooden blocks in the joints i know is 1910 on! Im newforest based and everything here is really old or slapped up in the 60s 😅
1870 cos you mentioned it at the end😂
😅😅
That’s the house build ..the garage is an addition
@@thetraditionalbricklayer9650 Just checking 😅
I’m thinking between 1920/ 30
Dean the top of the apex gable , my assumption was that possibly ear blast damadge, , theywere Ed usinga lot of commons to repair and build post ww11
Good comment that ..interesting
1937 door handle bakelite, love tongue groove timber .
Some good guess men and few good facts in there
I’ve put a silent clue in the video 😉🇬🇧
1955? 5 foot 5?
Probably about 1935.
Nice one Dene hope you're well great lesson nice to see I'm going to guess 1930s keep up the good work guys
Rawl plugs were invented in 1911 so my guess is 1925 as old habits die strong
1960 dean… that’s my guess! Andrew
What I've learnt is that back in 1870, I still would have been below average height:(
Deano you look like the guy on the cans of madri I’m drinking
Yeah I reckon they took it cause wen it launched there’s an old photo of me with shirt and tie and rose on me chest think it’s the Winston Churchill. Video
1870
What a brilliant programme, watching from Republic of Ireland, fair play to ya Dean😊
1890 I’m going for or maybe earlier - 🍀👍
50' s them blocks were about defo deano x
1910
I'm going to say that that is a post-war addition. Maybe a few years after the war ended as the economy picks back up so I'm going to guess 1949.
1950
What mix are you using nhl?
1910
1956
1936😜
1870 ish love the heritage work
it looks 1930s to these eyes...
I am thinking 1947
You make a good point about maintaining historical elements, otherwise it is just miles of dilapidation.
Just seen your video with ash mahoney , wouldnt a contract manger help him in future
quick question. you know with terraced houses that were built in victorian/Edwardian times. how did they maintain a consistent level all the way down the street.
They used a water level
Datums I think
War damadge
1870's
1938 🧱👍🏼
Cmon mate turn your comments back on. Don’t give in to the losers, you’re better than that🇦🇺
Class
1875 pete McIntyre from Birmingham
New footing for garage then dean
Pre second war ( very early 1930’s)
You're funny, God Bless Ya
Dead right pal.
Where I live a lot of old stone house areas are listed.
Although, "certain groups" seem to get away with walling up old window openings with blocks etc, putting weird 1990s looking electric garage roller doors, not to a garage either, as a gate into the garden, no sh!t. Big horrible cheesy fake gold lions as gatepost etc.
Funny, because that same "certain group" now seems to totally control the local council.
I'm sure that's just a coincidence though...
Mid thirties looking at the door handle.
Based on your clues and my 30 years of masonry experience, My best educated guess would be 1920s-1930s
Where can you buy those hats dean class.
1964
1875
Mate, im not a brickie, but I love your videos and your enthusiasm and passion for your trade and how you want to pass on your knowledge, keep it buddy
I’ve seen a lot of beautiful traditional houses, turned into something that should be in Miami covered in k1 rend 🤮🤮
im guessing 1920
The reason you can’t do that is that up north they built millions of poorly constructed homes for ex servicemen.
1870 I think?
1950's
Oh ffs
Those blocks look 1950's to me. My old man who served his joinery apprenticeship in the 50's used to tell me how limestone was slacked onsite for the mortar and how they had to use plugging chisels to knock out the joints for the wooden plugs. Good video, always nice to work on interesting buildings. Keep up the good work.
Carpenter here, my suggestion is there was a hip roof that they done away with to gain more storage in the attic!
60s
1920?? - Would sandblasting the bricks not remove the face and leave it more porous, a lot lot of work restoring them. Would look pucker lime rendered.
Yes removed the face but will be sealed ..giving the brick new life …one’s personal preference ..criminal damage or good restoration
Ya gave it away just before the end.. lol
1000 bricks a day? I lay one a day and then flush it
30s.
Bottom half rendered imo
I say in the 40's, as although not common, lime mortar was still being used
Lime mortar so between 1915-1930
1955+
1947 post war
Complete guess... 1949 😀
Charlie said can he do stretcher bond pick and dip 1920 /1940
😂
1930 onwards approx 1935
Late fifies
1870
austin A5 car garage.
1935
1935
1860
1911👍
1950's
Around 1900.
1950s
Yes true dean
Here in the states (especially in the upland south)those style of blocks was very common late 40’s/ early 50’s, same with letting framing timber into masonry work. Lime mortar was still very common into the early
60’s. So my thought is definitely post war(2).
But usa are backwards so nemind 😂
@@seanoxborough5830yeah but all their knowledge came from Europe a mix of British/Dutch most likely. Native Americans didn't lay bricks!
If your gonna spin off the brickwork dean? I’ve found using a Vanity blade on a variable speed grinder on level 1 works a treat
That is racist who are certain kind of people??
Not racist at all, just saying facts, certain kind of people don’t respect our heritage, never mentioned a colour?
@@Tommy-yf2yq I knew you reply 😎😎😎😎✌️
1929.. pretty sure I built that
