Gremlins 2 is what happens when you let the gremlins make a gremlin movie ;) It literally breaks everything; all rules, all conventions and even the film itself!
I like to think that a Gremlins 3 never came out because they came as close to cinematic perfection as they could with Gremlins 2. The first film is a classic dark horror comedy film. Gremlins 2 on the other hand is just as Jared said: a live-action cartoon. The over-the-top characters, the zany action, the non-stop gags and cultural references; this film is Looney Tunes transposed into reality. Too many people felt that Gremlins 2 was low-brow, but it is just that wacky, random, nonsensical place in all of our minds that we don't let out often enough.
Gremlins 2 was stupid, but I love it. The reason I say it's stupid, because in the first gremlin movie there was a plot. The gremlins wreck the whole town and they figured out a way to destroy them, but in Gremlins 2, there really isn't a plot. Yes, they multiplied and cause havoc at the beginning and they found a way to get rid of them at the end, but in the middle, if you weren't paying attention, you would get confused, because they would throw different plots and parodies to make you think where r they going with this. Then it got really crazy when they made it look like the gremlins were in theater wrecking the film while Hulk Hogan was watching. And the part with the gremlins drinking elixir and transforming into different things(making them more hideous than what they already r),but it was amusing. They need to make a Gremlins 3 to find out the fate of Greta.
I would kind of like a Gremlins 3. I would like to see what it would be like if Gizmo let's with the Parker's, or whatever their names were. And I would bet there's a family of Gremlins, a father, mother, daughter, son, a kid Gremlins and a teenage Gremlins, and a college student Gremlins,.

It's ultimately that type of idiotic thinking that brought us Gremlins 2, which would have been fine if the first movie was built that way but it wasnt. The franchise was turned into something trying to +1up the Naked Gun movies. But most millenials dont even know what those movies are. And those movies did many of the same satirical things this one did, but not on the grand scale of Gremlins 2, which never shouldn't have departed from its origin. End of story.

"Acid: Do Not Throw In Face." "We're recommending all our clients invest in canned food and shotguns" I initially hated this movie. It's basically a parody of the first movie. But over the years I've come to appreciate how ingenious it is.

Chapo had a showing of this at the Egyptian back in May and the 35mm burnout gag got every one of us. All of us were HOWLING with laughter at the gag on top of gag on top of gag that leads to Hulk Hogan. It's a beat for beat perfect comedy. Everything is set up so well and has such a good payoff.

I still own both of these movies on VHS. I showed them to my 11 yo and 7 yo daughters and they loved them! They where surprised when I told them when they were made.
Gizmo’s home doesn’t just get torn down like how you say. His owner refuses to sell his home to Clamp and stands his ground. When he dies, Clamp buys it and then tears it down. Gizmo not knowing what’s going on gets scared and runs away and that’s when the lab guy finds him and that’s how gizmo gets into the clamp building to begin with.
Thanks for this video, it convinced me to actually watch this, I thought it was another subpar 80s sequel like Ghostbusters 2 and Short Circut 2, but after watching this, I gave it a chance and now it’s my favorite movie ever, so funny, so visually fantastic, the social satire is on point even today, it’s a perfect film. I need to check out Dante’s other work, I’ve only seen this and Gremlins 1 and I absolutely adore his style.
This is a piss take of the original and I love it. I love horror comedy. Shun Of the Dead, Return of the living dead 1 and 2, Evil Dead trilogy, House II. Ash vs Evil Dead' to name a few.
King Kay have you seen Tucker and Dale vs Evil? It’s a huge parody of slashers, don’t look into trailers or anything because it spoils the entire concept. Should still be on Netflix iirc.
I find it absolutely amazing how Gizmo and the Gremlins don't look uncanny at all. That's so hard to pull off in animatronics and puppetry. In fact, I can't think of another movie with animatronics that don't look uncanny except for Gremlins.
