Your guest has strong opinions about anyone who ratted, and I respect that, but since I am not part of that life, I personally don't care if someone rats or not, as it only affects other criminals, not me. I just feel that if you go into a life surrounded by murderers, con men, thieves, extortionists & drug dealers, should you really be surprised that a number of them will sell you out to save themselves from prison? It seems obvious to me that you can't trust each other, and if you still go in willingly, then you take your chances.

Interesting interview. Something that Pennisi says makes sense to me. He says that loyalty and oaths are a two-way street. If a soldier or captain or even an associate is loyal, and then he gets falsely labeled as a rat, and then that person starts getting watched or clocked for the purpose of being taken out, then all bets are off. To me, this makes sense. This seems a lot different from someone who just doesn't want to do time. The Lucchese's have a long history of labeling innocent and often loyal members as rats, and then the family takes them out. Other families have done it as well, but the Lucchese's are notorious for it, at least in the past. What are your ideas about this? Is everything just black and white, when it comes to cooperating? I'm an Irish dude who prided himself in beating up guys when partying in my teens and early 20s, and I still value being able to handle myself. But when Trio, an adult man, talks about another guy being "good with his hands" in the world of organized crime, does that really matter? Other than prison is physical combat ability that useful? There are more guns than people in the US now. EVERYONE doin dirt is strapped, particularly in the drug trade. Other dude maybe has a knife, etc. Even if you are winning a one on one fight, a guys friend runs in from behind and its lights out. Seems like a lot of "enforcers" were low earning hang around guys, and were expendable to the organization.
Buy far one of, if not the best interview you have ever done. Great guest and the questions were fantastic. This is one for the Lee Cole scrapbooks.
