Join me on a journey as I hike up Mount Snowdon via Llanberis Path. This is one of the six main routes to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) and is a popular choice for those who are climbing Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) for the first time. The trail has a high footfall and can be very busy during the high season (June - August). The path ascends through the Llanberis Pass alongside the 13th-century ruins of Dolbadarn Castle. Walkers should keep clear of the rail tracks and stay on the clearly marked Llanberis Path but is great photo opportunity when the trains go by. This route offers the most gradual climb to the peak and is great for nature photography. Difficulty type: Hard/Strenuous.

Would you advise waterproof gear on a fine day or would the weather be the sane below as it is above

The weather changed drastically on the day I went at the top. I would recommend at least a light hooded rain coat. There were a lot of people at the top shivering from getting wet. The mist was fine but there was a few minutes of rain which caught people out. Hope this helps

Always waterproof jacket, trousers and survival bag on any mountain, the forecasts these days are generally very good, but I'm local and go up Snowdon a lot and at the most extreme I've seen it snow on days where the forecast was for clear skies and sunshine, the ambient temp tends to drop 1°C every 100 metres, so that's 10°C between the valley and summit on Snowdon, and that doesn't include other factors like windchill.
